Esta es una hermosa casa de 3 pisos, 4 habitaciones, 3500 pies cuadrados frente al lago que domina el Parque Estatal Smith Mountain Lake desde el muelle de dos pisos.

Nivel inferior: sala de recreación con mesa de billar, futbolín infantil, Wii, Playstation 3, juegos, rompecabezas, bar con refrigerador, TV (con directv), DVD, mesa de juego / tarjeta, baño completo, dormitorio con futón y acceso al exterior Patio con asientos.

Wonderful home and host!

Cathy was wonderful - she checked in and made sure we had everything we needed and was very responsive when I had questions. Her home was beautiful. We had a full house and never felt cramped. The cove was peaceful and allowed us all to relax. The paddle boards were put to good use and we enjoyed spending the evenings watching the sun set from the dock. Everything was just perfect and this place makes our short list for return visits!

Great place to stay!

We liked the location very much and appreciated all of the outdoor and indoor games available to keep our kids busy when they were not in the water. Weather was very hot and the lake was low and warm, but we spent a lot of time boating, PWC-ing, kayaking, etc. We would definitely come back to Cathy’s house again.

Family vacation

Our family of 6 adults spent our week long annual vacation at the beautiful Lake Effects. The home was just perfect for our three couples with each floor having its own bedroom and bathroom everyone had their own space. Cathy is a wonderful hostess and the home is equipped with so many little extras from the blackstone grill, the drawer full of any utensil you might need and best of all the coffee bar! We didn’t want for anything during our stay. The dock area was also well equipped. The upper deck had a comfy sectional for reading, sunning or watching sunsets. The provided umbrellas and fans assured you would be comfortable no matter how hot the day was. Lots of time was spent in and on the water, reading in one of the many cozy spots, and playing games in the yard and board games at the beautiful dining table. Everyone in our group had an awesome week!

A wonderful week!

Cathy’s house is located on a small cove that is very private and very quiet. As described, it is a large home with bedrooms and bathrooms on all three floors, allowing us to spread out. The spacious deck provides a fantastic view of the lake, and a great gathering place, as did the large and well equipped kitchen. We especially enjoyed the well-stocked, coffee and tea bar, eating dinner in the screen porch, relaxing on the two story dock and floating on the lake. The proximity to Smith Mountain State Park was also a big plus. Given the very warm weather during our week here, we also appreciated the very effective AC system, which has not always been the case in other houses we have rented. Cathy was super responsive to all our questions and provided very clear instructions. All of the light switches etc. are clear marked. There were some nice extras, such as boxes of tissue's in every room and charging cords, that is not always provided in rentals. Thank you so much.

Outstanding property for family vacation

This home is lovely inside & out. It is well cared for, very clean, and extremely well equipped and comfortable. There is plenty of room for many guests. The property owner is responsive to communications - rental, check in and check out we’re a breeze. Once we arrived with our groceries, we had no reason the leave! The location on the lake is delightful and the well equipped dock and sitting area were fantastic.

Great experience

Our family has a wonderful week at the property. The house is in a great location and wonderful view. We loved the screened in porch, kayaks, and pedal boat. The check in process was very simple.

One of the BEST vacations we've had!

We had four adults and four kids (ages 10-14) stay at Cathy's house and we all LOVED it. There was plenty of space for us all to spread out both inside and out. The kitchen was well stocked, and the new grill was a hit! We absolutely loved the double decker dock! The views are to die for! We also really enjoyed having those views but also being in a private area. We also made great use out of all the kayaks, canoe, and paddle boards. We would HIGHLY recommend this property as it was perfect and Cathy was so great to work with!

Amazing!

Cathy’s home is absolutely stellar. Our family of seven stayed for a five day graduation celebration and we only had to come with our food and our clothing. We have been renting all over the world for years and have never had such a well-stocked, well organized home. The property itself is incredibly green and peaceful with lots of lovely nature. The dock and available recreational equipment was in perfect condition and such a great place for the family together and bond. The lake was one of the most beautiful we have seen. Cathy was incredibly responsive, informative and patient. We highly recommend this home, and hopefully will have an opportunity to stay here again soon!

This place is perfect. The owner goes above and beyond creating the perfect oasis on the lake. She is also always accessible and responds to any issue immediately. Wish I could give more stars!

Great Lake location!

We loved this house and it’s location on lake in a very private cove. The house was very clean. Cathy was very easy to work with and responded immediately to our questions. House layout worked great for our family (brothers with spouses and 2 kids each). Our only “surprise” was you don’t really have a big view of the lake from the house because of the way it’s situated and the dock isn’t visible from the house at all. Compared to other places we’ve stayed at SML we LOVED that this house didn’t have stairs to get to the dock and so ultimately it worked out fine but was just not what we expected at first. Highly recommend this house! We’d definitely rent it again.

The host was extremely helpful!

Our host offered helpful guidance with nearly every aspect of our stay. We were given great advice on boat rentals, fishing, restaurants, groceries, etc. She really went out of her way to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable. Be aware that the water level of the lake does rise and fall. So if you dock a boat on the fixed dock, take care when securing it (consider leaving some slack in the ropes). And the house has a really nice kitchen, so you can easily cook meals in it if you don't care to drive to restaurants.

Our family felt right at home!!

Everything was great!! We loved the openness of the house to hang out together, and spent all day on the dock and in the water! Bonus points for the couches, umbrellas and fans for the upper dock!! Cathy was great to work with, extremely helpful, and really made our vacation easy and enjoyable. The little extras go a long way, and we’re super appreciated! Thanks for a great stay and sharing your home with us!

Family vacation and graduations

This home was absolutely perfect for our family! We had two kiddos graduating a week apart from nearby colleges so this home became our home for 10 days. It was truly delightful to have such a beautiful place to have our family all together and to celebrate some big accomplishments! So many wonderful features to this home: spacious, extra clean, very functional kitchen, coffee bar, screened in porch, piano, games galore, pool table, beautiful dock, kayaks and paddle boards and so much more! Cathy, the owner/host, was wonderful in providing all required info for check in and just overall great communication! We had an amazing stay and can’t wait to go back!!

Large, welcoming home!

Lake Effects was perfect for our long weekend getaway, but would have been great for a whole week as well. We just wanted a place to relax and unwind at the lake with 3 college-weary young adult children on fall break, and this was great. The house is in a very nice part of the lake, in a quiet neighborhood right across from the State Park, just off the main channel on a side bay, so it is quiet, but super convenient to everything. The boat dock is great, with a 2nd story, albeit just down the yard a bit from the house, but it's great for the water-friendly family that wants to enjoy the canoe, kayaks and paddle boat that were provided by the host family. Cathy and her family thought of everything, and we didn't need or lack for one thing. The house is large, so all of us had our own space, out of each other's way, and it is well appointed, so we literally did not need anything but our clothes and food/drinks. It has an AWESOME coffee bar, and she even provided pods for the Keurig machine, but we brought our own as well. If you are looking for a nice retreat for up to 6-8 comfortably, this is a great choice, but 8 is the max, so don't even think about more. The County sets the rules on that, which is actually nice, because you know there won't be giant wild crowds. The neighborhood was VERY nice and quiet and there was a resident deer family that walked around everyone's yard, which was nice to see. There is an afternoon or evening sunset view from the house and boat dock and that is really nice. All in all, we highly recommend LAKE EFFECTS, because the host Cathy, is a Super Host, and she really takes good care of the house and her guests with excellent communication and supplies. ENJOY!

The Ultimate Getaway

First of all, Cathy is a gracious, understanding and responsive host. Everything about Lake Effects 2 ensures a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The kitchen has everything that an accomplished cook needs. The water toys and dock ensure total enjoyment of the lake. Even if bad weather is experienced, there are plenty of activities in the house to pass the time. We saw deer every morning and evening of our visit. This is the location to relax and create memories that will last a lifetime.

The last thing my Dad did was to be an extra in a movie called "Lake Effects" with Jane Seymour and filmed entirely at Smith Mountain Lake. He was so proud to be a part of it and it's very fitting that we say welcome to our "Lake Effects". We wish to continue what my mom and dad had so longed to do with their house and have everyone visit for years to come. The home is a beautiful 3 story, 4 bedroom, 3500 square foot lake front home that overlooks the Smith Mountain Lake State Park from the double deck dock.

You will find no other place like it. We have had so many wonderful times here with both family and friends. With beautiful lake views and a very large, private cove that overlooks the State Park. Why not come to our home and start creating your annual memories for your family too!

Our cove is extremely large and not very traveled by boats making swimming very easy. Our dock has a very private feel with fabulous views that can't be beat as you look directly across at the tress of the State Park, the main channel, and only one other dock!
