This house boasts knotty pine cathedral ceilings, 2 gathering/ living areas, a gas grill, and a large deck. There's a back door that opens to a fenced in yard for you four legged family members. The beach, fishing pier, playground, and boat access are steps away across the street at the end of the driveway. This house is not on the water side of street. It is on hilltop with views.

There are NO DOGS ALLOWED in the lake. PET FEES ADDED AT TIME OF RESERVATION - pls ask.

During your stay, walk into town for an ice-cream cone, home made pizza, groceries, or a drink and a meal at the local restaurant after a day on all sports Shingle Lake. For an adventurous day, explore the local skiing, golfing, zip lining, state hiking trails, canoeing, tubing, go carts, batting cages, put put golf, hunting and the area's ATV and ORV trails. For a more leisurely day try Clare County's antiquing, farmers' markets, multiple seasonal festivals, and the shops, bakeries, and driving tour of the area's Amish community.

Day trips include: Fruitfull Orchard/hayrides/25 mins., Mt. Pleasant water park/30 mins., Soaring Eagle Casino/30 mins., Houghton Lake/40 mins., Traverse City/1.5 hrs., Ludington Beach/Lake Michigan/1.75 hrs., Mackinaw City/Mackinaw Island/2 hrs.

Fully equipped with linens, towels, kitchen essentials, full sized washer/dryer, hammock, yard games, games, puzzles, books, Smart TV (must have own logins), internet, fire pit, and more! Just bring your swimsuits!!!

Cute hilltop cottage overlooking the lake. Jen put some nice touches in it. She also left something special for us & our dog. We absolutely love the peacefulness & serenity!

Up North Trip

Had a good time up north! Jen does a great job welcoming you and your pet:). House is set up and ready with things you might forget to bring along like a blow dryer! Close to the beach, and Harrison and Clare are about a 20 min drive. Nice to have bird feeders around to watch out the windows! Us and our dog enjoyed our stay.

Get away weekend

Short weekend to the north to see the colors one word Amazing the stay at you home and the colors and the weather cooperated your home was outstanding everything that you may need wifi was great local channels missed for local news bought a antenna to get local would love to come back again.was not able to write in book lost power on leaving couldn't see.

Wonderful, relaxing vacation!

This property worked out amazingly well for us and our dog. The fenced-in back yard was a real blessing and there were quiet roads to walk on. The house itself was very relaxing - we mostly unplugged but the internet was good enough to stream a movie in the evening. Jennifer was the best host we've ever had - we felt so welcomed and her communication is great. We loved the lake which is just across the street from the house! The water was warm and perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding - easy put-ins from the beach and boating ramp, little motor boats, and not too windy. We will definitely be back!

Nice vacation

The cabin looks great in the pictures but it is very well used. The furniture has definitely seen better days. Great place for the dogs! Considering the amount of the cleaning fee it is not as clean as it could be. I had to clean the end table off before I could put my belongings on it, it hadnā€™t been cleaned in a long time. Before I used the oven I had to clean it. The stove vent top was covered in grease. The recliner in the living area didnā€™t work and at the back of it, it was covered in what looked like throw up. The listing says it has air conditioning, however it is all window units. So if you have the window air conditioner on in the porch area you canā€™t sit on the couch because it blows on your head. Also the listing says it has WiFi. The WiFi is very unreliable and there is no alternative! Should have Roku or a Fire Stick, something!! Even with the WiFi we couldnā€™t access the normal stations. The remote was very temperamental!! We lost WiFi for a whole day.. Again the owner was very responsive, but she couldnā€™t fix it! I rented the cabin because it said it had WiFi so I was very disappointed when we had to go without for a day!! My biggest concern were the pillows, not one of them had a pillow protector on it! I left my pillow at home, and was very upset when I got there when I saw the pillows. Very unsanitary! Just changing a pillow cover does not make the pillow clean. We were greeted with an anniversary cake and the dogs had a couple of toys and treats , that was very nice! I would suggest if you want to watch movies you bring a portable CD player and cds. There is a lot to do in the area and if the cabin was priced lower than it is considering itā€™s condition I would consider going back . However I would bring my own pillows, cds and player and portable air cleaners because of window air conditioners.

Wonderful getaway with our dogs

A great place to relax and unwind and not worry about anything. We loved having a fully fenced yard with the firepit. Having the lake just across the street was delightful and we enjoyed kayaking and relaxing on the beach. Of note, if you are gluten free, we recommend bringing most of your own food. Not many gluten free options locally.

Peaceful and fun

This place was wonderful. Everything we could need for our stay and more. We really loved bird watching whie having breakfast out on the porch. Very quick walk to the lake beach which was clean and quiet perfect for a day spending in the sun. We truly felt at home. Perfect place to unplug and get away from it all. Jen was very responsive and proactive host. We will surely be back again.

Red roof cottage

We had a great time! Everything you need is at the house. A/C is in both bedrooms but house can get a little warm. We rented a boat on George lake and had a blast. Nice deck and bbq grill. Jen the host was great and always available. The Depot had great pizza, large dollar store and bar/restaurant close by. We will book again!

Find another listing, unless you like mold

My three sisters, my mom and I planned a weekend girls trip. The listing shows two beds in the house with a pullout and three beds in the bunkhouse. As soon as we walked into the bunkhouse we were hit with a TERRIBLE mildew smell and immediately walked out knowing we would not be able to sleep there. We contacted the host immediately and at first she was very helpful and offered a refund. She then changed her tune and said she would offer us $100. We contacted VRBO and was told to basically deal with the host. Even though there was mold allll over the bunkhouse, we were told ā€œitā€™s a bunkhouse in the woods. Of course itā€™s going to smell.ā€ The host then started ignoring my texts and calls and finally got her to answer when I called from a different number. She offered to come clean the bunkhouse, which 1. Should have already been done and 2. You canā€™t just clean mold out of a mattress and have it be ready to go. She also kept trying to say that the bunkhouse isnā€™t advertised specifically to adults, so we shouldnā€™t have counted on that space, which doesnā€™t make sense to me. Donā€™t advertise the space at all if we canā€™t count on it to use. After an hour plus of going back and forth at 10pm, she finally agreed to give us a refund and told us to be out of the house in 15 minutes. No exaggeration, this is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a rental. Terrible customer service from Vrbo and the rudest host I have ever come across on here. 10/10 I donā€™t recommend, 0 stars

Pet friendly Weekend

This cottage had everything needed. Very personalized for our fur baby. Very close to our event. Nice to have a fenced in yard for our dog when sitting out by fire and chilling. Communication was great. Would stay here again.

Fun weekend getaway

Property is very quaint and in a great location. Out of the way, but not a far drive to do lots of fun things. Jen is a great property owner. She set up the house so cute to welcome us, our dogs and our CMU Chippewas. The personal touches made our trip that much better. Definitely recommend.

New Family Tradition

This was the perfect setup for a family with younger kids and a dog. The cabin was adorable and had everything we needed. There were even treats for the kids and the dog when we arrived. Our girls (2&4) cried when we had to leave. They got to go fishing for the first time, and had their first big beach day. We are looking to make this a yearly, if not twice yearly trip. We had so much fun!

Red roof cottage

Loved this place. The owner is a very easy person to work with and does a great job of taking care of you and giving those personal touches. Notes everywhere to explain everything. Lots of stuff to keep you busy (boats, games, fire pit etc. I was surprised at how spacious it was inside. lots of room to play games etc. Quilts everywhere so you are always comfy. House is on a hill overlooking the lake. Park right across the street. Canoe on wheels so it was easy to get on the water. Plus tubes and a kayak. The separate little bunkhouse was perfect for a couple of the young folks. Overall it was a great experience.

Little Slice of Heaven

Big things come in small packages. This vacation spot was exactly what we needed. Being our first family vacation we did not get to enjoy the spot as much as we had liked to. The house was super clean and extrememly cozy. It makes you feel right at home. There was plenty of room for our 9 months olds to roam around, which was loved. There was plenty of room to put up two pack n plays, and they loved being able to bath in the deep tub together. Our 5 year old loved the little art station and the books there was to read. It is a short walk to a small beach/park. The little town has just about everything you need and if not the bigger stores are only a short drive. The owner is amazing, thoughtful, and always available for anything that could occur. She even highlights some of the gems of the town. I promise you if you rent here you won't want to leave.

Relaxing vacation with my family

This is a darling cottage, beautiful views. Has train tracks next to it that we loved hearing. Clean, well stocked. Owner is EASY to contact with any issues you might have. We had a heck of a time getting TV to work so we messaged her. Not 3 minutes went by and Jenn was messaging me back! Loved we could bring our pets. They loved the sun room almost as much as our teenager! A great place to rent, looking forward to our next trip. Thank you Jenn.

Relaxing stay

We enjoyed our time there. The lake looks fun. Unfortunately our purpose and schedule did not allow time to play in the lake. The neighborhood was quiet and the cabin was quite cozy with all the amenities we needed.
