I live very nearby and can respond within minutes in most cases. My default behavior is to let my guests enjoy themselves without my involvement. I may stop by to meet you at some point in your stay but will contact you before i do. I am also available and will happily help you with any activity or pursuit upon request. I enjoy all the fruits of Alexander Valley and Northern California and know many local winemakers, wine growers, restaurants, hiking and biking trails, etc. I also bicycle, hike, love fine wines and dining. I am available at your request for any activity or issue you may have with your accommodations. I am equally happy to make myself scarce so you can enjoy the privacy this country home offers.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I stayed here with a group of 9 friends- all in our late 20s- most of whom flew in from NYC for a weekend getaway in wine country. We had the most wonderful weekend and can't say enough about this great house and amazing location! The property is literally surrounded by vineyards, and the sunset from the large backyard, complete with grazing horses in the field next to the house, was gorgeous! The backyard has a couple of tables which were perfect for eating outside, and several hummingbird feeders which were quite the hotspot for hummingbirds all weekend. There is also a hot tub just outside the house, which was so much fun for me and my girlfriends at the end of the day while our boyfriends played darts next to us. The location of the home is wonderful. So many vineyards within walking distances, and great ones a short car ride away. The Jimtown Store, a really cute old-fashioned general store, is just up the road, and you can eat breakfast or lunch there or order lunch boxes ahead of time for a day of wine tasting. The interior of the house was just what we needed. The beds were comfortable, and best of all was the really large, open kitchen complete with large dining table. We had a great time eating and playing board games at night. This house is really the perfect place for a large group looking for a fun, relaxing weekend or week together. Dell, the homeowner, was so easy to work with and had great suggestions for us. When we arrived, the house was full of fresh flowers, plus a bottle of wine for us and a bowl of apples to feed the horses with! We will definitely be coming back next year! Truly an idyllic wine country experience.

Great Alexander Valley Location

  • 4 of 5

The home is nice, the birds are fantastic. While we were there the area was expereincing a heat wave, most days exceeded 100 and the house does not have air conditioning. Aside from the lack of AC, the house has everything you need. The solar that powers the car charging station is a nice perk too.

Quaint Perfection

  • 5 of 5

I am known by my husband as a hotel snob, and this house left me wow'd! Dell was a wonderful host from booking to check out. We stayed with our two smal children and they loved exploringthe yard and watching the hummingbirds so much.

It was peaceful and cozy, and we had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable time. Beds were Super comfy and the kitchen was well equipped if wanting to cook.

Only problem is.... we had to leave. We can't wait to come back soon as Casa Colibri alumni. Thank you again!

Very comfortable and cozy; all amenities provided.

  • 5 of 5

Great experience for a group! Plenty of room to spread out, to be together or separate. Beautiful peaceful location but not far from great restaurants and boutique shopping in Healdsburg (5 ladies and we did some damage - to our credit cards, not to the house.) Neighboring horses were a special treat to feed and pet. Beds and bedding all wonderfully comfortable. Hot tub under the stars. Large, well-equipped kitchen. Extremely helpful owner, anxious to make sure we were happy. We plan to return in the spring.

Hummingbirds and outdoor showers! Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of seven women, mothers and daughters in our 40's-70's and we felt like we were at home in Dell's house. The large kitchen was our center, perfect for cooking and our on-going scrabble game. The bedrooms had enough beds for all of us to have our own one and surprisingly all the bunk beds were very comfortable!!

We took small walks and loved stopping at Jim Town store on the way. It's only 6 miles from downtown Healdsburg and close to many wineries. We especially liked the outdoor shower with the hummingbird feeder above it. Watching them fly around while bathing was amazing.

It rained most of our stay and that did not deter any of our fun- this place is magical!

Thanks Dell we had a blast and made some long lasting memories!!

Great Property

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful spot for visiting Healdsburg and wine country! The backyard is great for watching birds, sitting on the deck under the trees eating dinner or drinking wine, feeding the neighbor's horses or even a game of ping pong. The nicely decorated house itself is well equipped for cooking, eating, lounging and sleeping. There is ample parking in the driveway for several cars. The house is situated in a very quite area with easy access to wineries on foot, by bicycle or a short car ride. It was an easy drive into Healdsburg where there were many nice restaurants and stores. This would definitely be a first choice when staying in the area again.

Great house & great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great family weekend at Casa Colibri! The bunk room was awesome for the kids, and they had a great time running around, watching all the hummingbirds, and saying hello to the friendly horses next door. Huge, fabulous kitchen and outdoor grill/dining area - perfect for cooking up our loot from the farmers market! Dell was a really thoughtful host - detailed information on the property was emailed prior, and fresh flowers and a bottle of wine were there to enjoy on our arrival. The house was very clean and there was plenty of space for 2 couples and 3 younger kids. And you can't beat the location - the Jimtown store is a short walk, Healdsburg and Geyersville are quick 10 minute drives, and perfect to just hop on your bike and enjoy the winding wine-country roads.

THINGS YOU CAN DO AT THE HOUSE OR WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE: There are 3 wineries and tasting rooms within easy walking distance. Right out the back door on the deck bird watching is exceptional. Biking is world class for all abilities any time of the year; you can pick the flat and scenic 5-mile loop thru the vineyards, challenge yourself up the incomparable Pine Flat Road and everything in-between.. The house sits on open land, surrounded by vineyards, trees and horse pastures. The Russian River riparian corrididor is less than a mile away. This unique combination of micro-climate and habitat range creates a steady show of avian wildlife. Binoculars are provided but bring your own if you are already a bird nerd. The flocking of British Starlings in the Fall is a must-see for those who haven't. Anna and Allen hummingbirds patrol the backyard feeders year round and are always ferocious and fun. Acorn woodpeckers, Downy woodpeckers, flickers, Western bluebirds, titmice, nuthatches, Bullocks orioles, Redtail hawks and other raptors are common sightings right from the back deck.

NEW in 2017 is a Pétanque court in the backyard. This simple game has French origins and is fun for folks of all ages and physical abilities. Equipment and rules are provided.

The Russian River is an easy mile away and affords it's own span of adventures. You can fish, swim, float, snorkle, lay on the bank and look for otters and at others. Medlock Ames is a halfway to the river and is a wine tasting room from 9-5. At 5 PM the Alexander Valley Bar opens up out back. This Medlock-Ames complex offers wine and full-service bar with premium beer on tap as well as top shelf spirits. They also have Bocce and Petanque courts, and live music and Food Truck events during the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Medlock-Ames is a fun place within easy walking distance. The Jimtown Store is a few steps away and offers breakfast and lunch. In addition the Jimtown Store has an antique store, penny candy, and locally crafted gifts. Do not miss this! The picturesque Alexander Valley Community church is next door and will welcome you to attend their services held every Sunday from 10 AM till noon.

THINGS WITHIN A 10 MINUTE DRIVE OR 20 MINUTE BIKE RIDE: There are literally scores of premium wineries open daily. You really cannot miss when it comes to fine wines here. If you don't already know which wines you like I will be happy to suggest a few that specialize in the type you favor. The nearby Francis Ford Coppola winery, restaurants and movie museum offers a pool with private cabanas for a real Hollywood experience set above the glorious Alexander and Dry Creek wine country. Allow a couple of hours for this multifaceted venue, even if you don't spend the day by the pool. The nearby towns of Healdsburg and more intimate Geyserville have a full range of high-end dining as well as more casual and economical fare. Shopping in Healdsburg offers unique shops, wine tasting rooms, health spas, and a small-town charm which is unrivaled. On Tuesday's during the summer season free concerts are held in the town Plaza where you are free to spread out a blanket and enjoy a meal, dance, drink wine or whatever else you want. All ages are welcome to this civic event. The music starts at 6 PM and ends at 8 - go a little early to find a good spot. Food trucks line the north side of the Plaza so you can just bring yourself, your dancing shoes and have a fun evening. Geyserville is a smaller but fun little town with good restaurants and a few shops. The Dry Creek Rancheria Vegas-style casino is within 5 miles if you are feeling lucky.

Casa Colibri truly is a central location that offers vineyard, country, small town, and urban culture while providing you and your family and friends a private spot to gaze out upon the vineyards, drink fine wines, relax in the spa and recount your day's events. Aesthetician and masseuse services are available on-site upon request to round out your girls or couples getaway.
