Overview

About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Welcome to our lovely cottage situated in the heart of the Dordogne, with three bedrooms (one double and two twin rooms) and two bathrooms which makes it ideal for families and couples.

You will arrive at the property along a country lane with no-through traffic and we have a lovely long garden which makes it safe for families with young children. There are some lovely country walks for those who like to ramble and don't forget your bike maybe you could enjoy your own Tour de France!

The cottage has an open-plan lounge and newly fitted kitchen with french doors opening up onto a sun-drenched terrace and built-in barbecue, ideal for spending long summer evenings under the stars, excellent for sharing a bottle of the locally produced wines or for winter evenings cosy by the roaring fire, reading a good book. For parents that would like a romantic evening out without the children, babysitting can be arranged.

Our cottage provides total relaxation yet with all the jewels the region has to offer within a mere 10-20 minutes away.

In the immediate area there are many activities to be enjoyed including hot air ballooning, fishing, 18 hole golf course, canoeing, walking, lazy boat trips down the river, pony trekking and wine tasting.

We are situated in the Perigord Noir - the heart of the Dordogne. In an area of outstanding natural beauty where every turn leads to a picture postcard view. Discover the famous châteaux, beautiful villages and timeless scenery of a region immersed in history that stretches back to prehistoric times.

The region is famous for its gastronomy and wine, inside the many excellent local restaurants you can sample the local products such as walnuts, foie gras, confit de canard, truffles, goose and of course enjoy the famous french wines.

Chateau Millandes is only a five minute drive away, the château was once owned by the famous dancer Josephine Baker, whose life story is fascinating and there is also an excellent display of birds of prey, this is definitely one we recommend you visit. In the grounds of the château are lovely gardens, a restaurant, crazy golf and a swimming pool.

Only 15 minutes away is the stunning historic town of Sarlat, where there are many events during the summer with plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. There is also an excellent market held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Other markets in the area include Le Bugue on a Tuesday and St Cyprien on a Sunday. Meander through the streets trying and buying the local produce or alternatively laze away an hour or two at one of the many cafes watching the people go by.

Keywords: Idyllic rural cottage in a country setting, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Why Sarah Gallimore chose Dordogne

We bought the cottage because of its wonderful countryside location. We can watch the wildlife whilst being only 10 minutes away from all the local restaurants and attractions.

Very pretty and peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is surrounded by trees and we were visited by, amongst other things, a young deer and a red squirrel. Inside was spotlessly clean and we had everything we needed. The owners, Sarah and Paul, were very friendly and kind, made sure we were comfortable and told us about the local area, market days etc. The cottage is ideally placed for trips out to the numerous chateaux, gardens, prehistoric caves, picturesque villages and other places of interest. One chateau is literally a few minutes down the road and the nearby Dordogne river offers beautiful views as well as canoe or boat trips. All in all, a lovely holiday destination.

Perfect cottage for a wonderful familiy vacation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with our 4-year-old daughter had an absolutely wonderful holiday stay at the La Lande cottage. The location was scenic and quiet - perfect for relaxing. At the same time we were not far from canoeing on the Dordogne river and many stunning villages such as Castelnaud and Beynac.

The entire cottage was in tip-top shape. I was particularly impressed with the kitchen - it is nice to spend some dinners away from resturants and we had everything we needed for a few evenings of dining in. Although we have a small family, there is plenty of space for larger families in the cottage.

While the house by itself was great, the owners Paul and Sarah ensured our entire vacation experience was perfect. This was our first visit to Dordogne and the owners offered great guidance to resturance and actitivies - especially geared to a great holiday with out young daughter. While I could say more great things, I will sum up by saying that we extending our holiday to spend more days at the cottage as we did not want to go home.
