Stoneyhill is a self catering getaway, with breath taking views, which is situated on the west coast of Antigua where you can capture the most amazing sunsets along with the tranquil sounds of nature whispering through the tropical breeze. We are not a resort, Stoneyhill is a private Estate where you come to enjoy the REAL Caribbean. We are there to assist you in all your needs. At the same time respect your privacy.
There is now only 1 luxury cottage which is brand new & furnished very elegantly.
Our new cottage is completely private, nothing is shared, situated pool side, giving you all the privacy you need. 😀

Don’t think about this cottage, just book it! The property is absolutely gorgeous. Surrounded by Carribean views & beautiful flowers. It’s a great place to really connect to nature. Karol is above spectacular!! She made sure that we had everything we needed for a suburb stay!!!! The area beaches are great

Exceptional with super hosts

very private and tranquil oasis -fabulous views and great space . The cottage is very well planned throughout and has everything you need .The outdoor spaces are surpassed our expectations. The pool was very good and well maintained. be aware thst the access road is a n unmade road with pot holes but with careful driving we managed it with astandard saloon car .Karol and 'Merve are super friendly and nothing is too much trouble and the respected our privacy -we would recomend without hesitation.that

Continues to be fab!

It was our second visit to Stonyhill, we were so looking forward to it and were not disappointed. Karol is a great host, always available for queries but not intrusive. The property as before was immaculate and had everything we needed for our stay. We revisited some old haunts, Dennis's bar on Ffryes continues to be a favourite but we also enjoyed Roxy's on Galleon Bay and Catherines at Pidgeon point ( a bit pricy, but worth it for special occasion) All in all another fantastic holiday, thank you Karol.

Paradise in Antigua

We stayed Jan 15 to 20, 2019 and absolutely LOVED the place. The cottages are very clean, comfortable and perfectly situated with sweeping views of the hillside and sea. We enjoyed our coffee on the HUGE balcony in the morning while being visited by cute, friendly birds and watched the sunsets there in the evening. There is also a lovely pool & bar area. Just so much positive, I can't list it all. The place is quiet and just a few minutes drive to anything you could want.. beautiful beaches, supermarket, restaurants, etc. And on top of all those wonderful things, there is Karol and Merv. <3 Karol arranged a car rental for us, airport transfers, a local phone to use while there and really made us feel like family. :o) Really amazing people. Thank you Karol & Merv! We can't wait to return! Sandra & Nick

Great vacation

Property: this property is not on the beach, but is on a hillside overlooking the ocean and almost always has a nice breeze. My wife and I spent a lot of time sitting on the deck enjoying the breeze and scenery. It is easy walking distance to several beaches. This studio apartment is somewhat rustic, but it is perfect for those who are not into all-inclusive resorts but would rather explore on their own. Transportation: the owner, Karol, was great in assisting in setting up a driver, Nathaniel, to meet us at the airport and take us to the property. He also was available when we needed taxi service. You can catch the bus to and from St. John and points in between for just a few dollars, but the schedule is uncertain and the bus is often crowded with mostly locals. I would recommend you rent a car for at least a couple of days to explore. Nathaniel can also set this up. Owner: Karol is very kind and helpful. She was unintrusive but available when needed. She was instrumental in setting up taxi service, rental car and a terrific catamaran tour of the island. Restaurants: Jolly Harbor is nearby with several nice restaurants. We also found a number of other nice places in St. John and on nearby beaches. Overall: My wife and I had a great time. We would definitely go back and stay with Karol at her beautiful property again.

Stoneyhill Is The Place To Stay!

From the moment we arrived we felt at home - Karol and Merve were awesome hosts and though the accommodations were completely private and separate, we truly felt like we were staying with family. The cottage we stayed in was complete with everything we needed, including a spectacular view. We loved relaxing at the pool after a day on the beach or exploring the island - it's a sweet spot with a sweet view and our favorite night was when Karol & Merve joined us at the pool bar with music and cocktails! They also arranged our car rental with airport transfers (Nathaniel's terrific!) as well as a day sail on Wadadli Kats, which was amazing and totally recommended. Stoneyhill's location was ideal as it was so close to some of our favorite beaches: Valley Church Beach (our #1 fave with The Nest restaurant!), Ffryes Beach & Coco Beach. Shopping was a breeze with a huge supermarket right in Jolly Harbor and we had no shortage of restaurants and bars to choose from, right in the neighborhood- from De Underdog in Jolly Harbor, the first one we came across the night we arrived, to Jacqui O's - our last, indulgent, romantic night on the beach. Dennis Bar & Restaurant overlooking Ffryes Beach, Darkwood after a day of sailing for conch fritters and beers, OJ's Bar & Restaurant for a great dinner right on the beach with a sweet live jazz band. And all the bars/restaurants in between in Jolly Harbor. One of our best meals was at Cavell's (sp? ask Karol for directions) - true local cuisine, delicious and abundant! If you're thinking about a trip to Antigua, you MUST stay at Stoneyhill - you will fall in love with the place and Karol and Merve!

Stunning, Tranquil, Practical – and 'A Great Value.'

I loved my 3-weeks in Karol and Merve’s new Stoneyhill Cottage. So peaceful, with panoramic views of the ocean, hilly green countryside, nightly sunsets, colourful flora and delightful fauna. My private pool was perfect, with an ideal temperature to cool off, swim a few lengths, and just enjoy the sun and tropical surroundings. I enjoyed the daily opportunity to sit out and read on the cottage’s large covered porches with steady breeze, and grand views, a rare treat. The many birds and small geckos were a constant entertainment. The property, filled with colourful florals, palm trees, and exotic fruits, was always unique and interesting to explore. Orchestrations of tiny island frogs would lull me to sleep each night. The entire stay was a delight! Practicalities: Location – great, less than 10-min drive to Jolly Harbour’s many conveniences, and to numerous beaches. Entrance to the property is straight up-and-down on a rutted dirt road but certainly manageable. I didn’t get a car. Karol was kind enough to take me shopping on several occasions when needed. Cottage – Well equipped, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. Good mattress, comfortable furniture inside and out. Great shower. Everything you could want to cook full meals (with ample counter-space, large & small appliances, utensils, pots & pans, storage containers, plates & platters). There’s a large new barbeque with utensils for private use by the pool and a great palapa with fully equipped wet-bar (no drinks provided) and eating area. I love to cook and made wonderful meals here. Entertainment and Tech – good WiFi inside and out. TV had Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube. Security – I am a woman and travelled on my own. I had no worries at the cottage or on the island. Hosts – Karol and Merve were outstanding. They greeted me on arrival, and went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. Thanks!

What a great location. What a great cottage. Amazing value.

Antiqua has so many nooks and crannies to explore, not to mention all those great beaches. We loved our cottage and its location. Quiet with lovely, lovely views of the island Montserrat. There is an outstanding grocery store nearby...that was terrific for us as we prefer to cook in. The cottage's kitchen, while small, was SO well set up with every tool or pan needed. And, I had no doubt that, if I needed something, Karol and Merv would share from their own kitchen. The cottage sits among a total of three similar cottages, but feels very private. Karol has a real touch in decorating with so many thoughtful pieces. Her linens and towels were fantastic and generous. And, if we needed a change in paradise, we could (a) take the short walk down to the pool and cabana area complete with music, lighting, grill, and glasses for our own bottle of wine or rum & tonic or (b) take a short drive to a host of nearby white sand beaches. I wouldn't hesitate to urge anyone visiting Antigua to take a load off there.

Great hosts and a perfect location!

Carol and Merv are great friendly people! The cottage had all of the necessities and the property is well maintained. The veranda is spacious, private, and has a great view of the sea and mountainside. A vehicle is recommended to get to and from nearby beaches, grocery store, and restaurants. We arranged a rental through Carol and it was at the cottage when we arrived. We are already planning our next visit. Thanks for a great time Carol and Merv - see you again!

Peaceful sanctuary

My partner and I stayed for 10 nights and were absolutely thrilled with our stay. Karol and Merve are absolute gems! They are perfect hosts, happy to help in any way they can while being careful in respecting your privacy. The grounds are spotless and cottage was perfect for a romantic get away. A car is helpful if you want to to dine out, shop or tour beaches if you are just wanting R&R you will love resting on the porch with breath taking ocean views and watching the beautiful birds! Amazing Place and Amazing Owners

We recently returned from Karol and Merv's place and we simply fell in love with it! The views are amazing! The cottages are clean and beautifully decorated with everything you need. We enjoyed every evening sitting on the expansive deck just taking in the views, the landscape and the breezes. We honestly could not have imagined a more ideal location! The pool and pool house are perfect! You are just minutes from beautiful beaches, great restaurants and a grocery store for necessities. Best of all, as you will read in so many reviews, are Karol and Merv. They are the kindest people and we enjoyed every opportunity to chat with them and learn more about them and how they have built such an amazing place. They were absolutely wonderful and helpful to us. We are already scheduled to return. They get our highest recommendation! Lastly, the island of Antigua exceeded our expectations! The beaches we visited were just gorgeous, the terrain is stunning and the people were all so kind and welcoming. One of our favorite trips to the Caribbean to date!

Charming hosts and breathtaking views!

We’re not too much in favor of cruises or all-inclusives and like to meet an interesting person or two, both local and from afar when we travel. In all these respects Carol and Merv’s Stoney Hill Cottages suited us down to the ground. First, the three separate cottages, which are essentially roomy studios with immense wrap-around balconies that pose stunning views of the cove, the turquoise sea and Montserrat in the distance. A short walk down the hill finds you in the mutual cabana and bar area where one can barbecue and join Carol and other guests (as one wishes) with the pool and its stunning view. She and Merv are exceptional hosts; they know when to leave one alone and when to step in with good suggestions. We didn’t rent a car, but had a driver for one or two trips, and joined fellow guests for a sail around Antigua and a meal at a nearby gourmet restaurant. Otherwise, we were quite content to spend a day on our balcony, just appreciating how fortunate we are. This was brought into sharp focus when we made the trip to Barbuda, still largely decimated by Hurricane Irma. What a magnificent people! They are spiritually uplifting. When it comes to a journey that meets our liking, Stoney Hill Cottages fit the bill. Judging by the number of return visitors, it suits many others, too.

The perfect vacation!

My husband and I just got back from our stay with Karol & Merve at Stoneyhill Studios. We didn't want to leave. We had an absolutely fantastic vacation – we left our perfect little apartment and Antigua incredibly relaxed and extremely happy people. Our studio apt served us so well for 9 nights. When Karol showed us into our unit I lost count how many times we said "WOW" when we saw the view from our balcony. Well, "balcony" isn't the right word – it's a HUGE L-shaped wrap around covered piece of heaven with loungers, a hammock and a dining room table. With stunning views which we never tired of. The studios are spotlessly clean. And well equipped. The pool & bar/BBQ area is a fabulous gathering place at the end of the afternoon for a chilly beverage before making dinner. Stoneyhill is quiet and peaceful – yet close to several beautiful beaches. Our biggest decision each day was which beach we wanted to go to. The well stocked grocery store is a short drive away. What a truly special place this is and Karol and Merve are delightful and considerate hosts. We are so grateful for the fantastic, and well needed vacation. Thank you. We will be back! Highly Recommended

We had a wonderful time staying here. The cottages are lovely, clean and have everything that you need. Karol and Merv are great hosts and cannot do enough for you. Even offered to arrange collection from the airport and car rental. They lent me a local cell phone to use during our stay, they played lovely relaxing music by the pool bar, they lent us a mask and snorkel so that I could join in with my girls. We made full use of the pool and poolside BBQ which made life easier feeding my 2 fussy eaters. Karol gave us some good advice on places to go and places to eat. The cottages are set in a lovely quiet and tranquil location so very relaxing. Beautiful beaches on their doorstep, Darkwood beach has a lovely big inflatable water park and not far from Jolly Harbour and the supermarket. The only place I will stay for EVERY visit to Antigua

We stayed with Karol and Merv for about a week in June 2018. Let me start out by saying the views for the cottage as well as the pool and bar area are breathtaking!! The process of reserving a cottage was seamless and Karol even gave us assistance as we were not sure of our options regarding car rentals on the island. We were able to secure a rental via Karol with a driver picking us up from the airport and taking us back at the time of departure. Karol was always close if we needed her but gave us the privacy that we needed to freely explore Antigua. Jolly Harbour market is a stones throw away as well as a variety of local restaurants and beaches so there is no issue when it came to dining or activities. Due to some unforeseen health issues we were unable to fully take advantage of the amenities of the Stoney Hill cottages but we will return to the island of Antigua in the future and are looking forward once again to a stay at the Stoney Hill Cottages. Thank you for EVERYTHING Karol!!!

Great location and great hosts

The apartment is located close to the beach (you can see the water of Darkwood beach in the photo) and surrounded with lots of greenery which attracts quite a few birds. We were greeted by our friendly feathered friends every morning and sometimes a rainbow too! Karol and Merv were awesome hosts and provided us with helpful information and even got us a discount on a tour! they definitely enriched our Antigua experience . The apartment had everything we needed — even some bestselling paperbacks for leisure reading by the pool. We would definitely stay with them again.

worth every star

This place was (and is) fantastic! Karol and Merve are perfect hosts and you can interact with them as much or as little as you desire. The view is stunning and they have done a masterful job of landscaping to maximize the privacy of each unit. I sit here wishing I was relaxing on the deck watching all the little birds visiting right now. Beautiful island, great beaches, and stunning views. Looking forward to a return visit. Wonderful, as always.

This was our third stay at Stoneyhill and yet again we had a lovely time. Karol and Merve work so hard to keep everything immaculate and are always available should you have a query. We had a few days here after our sail in Guadeloupe and it was the best bit of my holiday. Very much looking forward to a whole week in 2017.

We stayed StoneyHill cottages in February 2016 and I can honestly say the place was FANTASTIC. We have been to Antigua many times, as we love the island and have stayed in many different accommodation and places. This was certainly at the top of the list. I totally agree with all the positive reviews that Stoneyhill Cottages receives. The cottages themselves are very well situated with a fantastic view from the very generous and well-furnished private balcony. We basically had the swimming pool to ourselves and enjoyed cooling off while looking over the fantastic view of Darkwood Valley and beach. The cottages are set back a little way from the beach area, but everything is in walking distance. We enjoyed the walks to the beach and even to the supermarket. If you don’t enjoy walking there is a bus, which is extremely reasonable that can get you to the supermarket. Karol, the owner would let you know when she is going to the supermarket if you wanted anything picked up. I would recommend hiring a car to see the island though as Antigua is a fantastic place to be. The locals are extremely friendly and helpful. All the beaches are wonderful with white sand and turquoise sea. There are also lots of wonderful places to visit around the island. Having said that you could easily stay here without a car without any hardship. The host Karol and Merv are truly wonderful. They can’t do enough to make sure your stay is the best ever. At the same time you can have total privacy and not even see them if you prefer. They are such wonderful people and we enjoyed their company very much. I highly recommend Stoneyhill cottages. The location is perfect and is so close to some fantastic beaches mainly Ffyer Beach, Darkwood Beach, Valley Church Beach to name a few. When we stayed there we met quite a few repeater guest who continue to come back as they enjoyed their stay so much. This is obviously due to the great accommodation and location, but also to the wonderful host Karol and Merve. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and you bet will be back. Best vacations. Repeat Visitor

Simple put Merv and Karol are great hosts and their property is a perfect hillside setting. The view is to die for and the villas are immaculate. The wrap around porches take great advantage of the ocean view. The pool was just completely refurbished and is beautiful. There are terrific restaurants, a grocery store and most anything one needs within 15 minutes of the property. My wife and I enjoy driving around the island and seeing the sights. The island is very safe and our interaction with the people has been nothing less than positive. Our only complaint is that more people seem to be discovering the island but it is by no means crowded. It is truly a paradise with weather always in the low 80s and a pleasent breeze on the beach. There are at least 10 beaches within an easy 15 minute drive from their property. OUTSTANDING vacation. We already booked a trip for 2017. Give It a try! Best value we have found. I like to keep my money as much as anyone, but we have encouraged them to raise their rates. Worth every penny....

The real luxury in Antigua

If you plan to spend a holiday in Antigua and want to have the best you do not have to go to one of the many resorts in the island but choose StoneyHill apartments. There are many reasons for choosing a home rather than an all inclusive hotel, but going to Stoney Hill apartments the reason is only one: Karol and Merve are simply fantastic !!! There we discovered the true luxury of a holiday that feel as comfortable as at home but in the middle of a beautiful nature, living with the locals and not in the sterile coldness of a hotel. Karol and Merve were able to be welcoming and helpful and did their best to accommodate your every request. They rented us their own at a very affordable price so we did not have the thought of having to use a car rental from Italy or just arrived in Antigua. The studio we stayed in was very spacious and had everything you need, the bathroom was new and clean as the whole apartment. But the must of the house was undoubtedly the large terrace where you can have breakfast and lunch and enjoy the scenery. The three apartments have a communal area with swimming pool, bar and barbecue and the complex is built in a pleasant original colonial style of the area, one of the nicest if not the nicest on the island. Every time we asked for information was a pleasure to hear from the owners telling us many facts and tips about Antigua that are not found in guidebooks. They have a network of knowledge in the area and will help you with any questions. They offered a great lunch and Karol is really a great cook! (Karol thanks again for your special spaghetti). We spent several hours together listening to a lot of reggae music and enjoying the drinks we try to duplicate here at home. Last but not least StoneyHill is very close to the best beaches of the islands (we recommend Coco Beach, Ffryes and Darkwood all of which a couple of minutes from StoneyHill) For the first time we were very sad to go home, not only because the holiday was over, but effectively we found not just two friendly hosts but two special friends.
