About The Owner

We are long time Charleston lovers and love food, dining out and the city in general. We both moved here about 15 years ago and like so many others never left...

Being avid travelers ourselves we hope we can make guests feel as welcome as we have felt in many locations around the world.

The Owner purchased this house in 2012

Why The Owner chose Charleston

We acquired the house to give other people the opportunity to enjoy our city as much as we do. Our guest house is conveniently located close to the most happening area in Charleston and we are excited to share it and our excitement about the neighborhood with visitors.

What makes this house unique

This is the location for people who want to be in an active neighborhood and like to dine out, drink, shop and explore. Everything is right on your doorstep.

Charming Charleston Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This home was the perfect location for my girlfriends and I for our annual college roommate reunion trip! Frank has done a beautiful job restoring this 1850s home and it felt like our own private connection to Charleston's past. The house comes fully furnished with all the amenities you need. The home is walkable to so many restaurants and shopping. Frank was so communicative and helpful during our stay. Highly recommend you book this place for your next trip!

Great location. Clean and stylish place.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The house has a great layout, with 2 BR upstairs and kitchen/living downstairs (note: master BR is right on the street, so it does get noisy sometimes). Walkable to a great bakery and restaurants. We ubered downtown for about $6 one way.

The only downsides were:

1. The checkin instructions indicated that owner wanted to meet in person and to call them 1-2 hours before arrival. We called in advance, but didn't hear back. We arrived at check in time and no one was there. We called again and the owner picked up (thank goodness!) and quickly told us how to get in. But it was like he was surprised to hear from us. This was a minor inconvenience, but our expectations were set to have this warm personal welcome.

2. The clothes dryer was not functional and started crazy beeping in the middle of the night. We ended up having to find the breaker box and throw the breaker for the dryer. It was a bummer not to have access to the dryer, especially with beach trips every day. But like #1, this was minor in the grand scheme of things.

We loved staying in the house.

Owner's Response: Our sincere apologies for somehow not sending you the check-in instructions and we are glad we got it worked out so quickly. VRBO now has a feature that guests can access 14 days prior to check-in that has all of the check-in information for the property plus our personal recommendations. Independent of that, we also e-mail our guests the week of arrival to provide the access information. I also meet our guests whenever possible as noted in our reviews, but Caroline and I were in Puerto Rico during your stay on vacation ourselves... even more reason I should have double checked to make sure you had the access information in advance. We just came in from the beach when you called, so I apologize for my disorientation. The dryer seems to be operational after resetting, but the fault appears to be occurring from a stuck button and has happened in the past, so it looks like it is replacement time. Anyway, thank you very much for the 5 stars and we are so glad you otherwise enjoyed yourselves. Caroline and I love our little guest house and do try to make sure our guests are comfortably accommodated.

Such a great location! We had perfect weather so we didn't spend much time in the house. We were able to walk or ride bikes to tons of restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay here again!

enjoyed our stay

  • 5 of 5

We love old houses and this one is no exception. Our host was gracious, even stopped by as we were settling in, gave us a few pointers and a few restaurant recommendations. It was what we were looking for: a place to hang out in the evenings after a busy day in the city, a place to fix meals if we chose, The kitchen was well supplied, the beds were nice and comfortable. It is only a 3 block walk to catch the free trolley that will take you all over the historic district! No fighting traffic or parking. We also enjoyed the local pizza place less than a block away.
