Great resort, room, location and plenty to do on-site

Our family had a great experience. The beachfront was close enough to our room that when we forgot something in the room, it was a 3 min walk. The resort was very clean and the beach too! There were plenty of pools and hot-tubs to chose from. There was plenty of room in our suite for the 5 of us. The bunk-bed room did have a vent but got a little warm at night, not unbearable. The portable fan provided that was in the master bedroom closet didn't work but again, the little room was not unbearable. We were able to access smart TV apps, like Netflix on 2 of the TVs as well as local cable. The 3rd TV worked but no service, so maybe have the kids bring something to plug and play. We could not get any of the DVD players to work. We did not stay in our room enough to have these small issues affect our amazing stay. We would definitely reserve this room again. The old port with all the shops and tour boats was only a 10 minute drive. On the resort's beach, there were folks renting out beach chairs, massages, fruit, hair braiding, jet-skis, a banana-boat, sunglasses and trinkets but were not pushy or overbearing and very respectful of a "no thank you." The beach also had small tide pools where we found sea urchins, sea anemones, hermit crabs, snails, small star fish, and even a little octopus when flipping up bigger rocks. My family was over satisfied with the entire Rocky Point experience and much of it was because of the room, hospitality, and plenty to do on site.

Worst vacation experience I've ever had

They advertise the beautiful negative edge ocean front pool at this property as a selling point, but don't mention without some searching that this is adults only so if you have a family with you, even if they are teenagers, you are mandated to sharing an overcrowded small set back pool area with every child in the entire resort. Which we couldn't actually use because it was so packed with people as it was and there was no where to even put down beach towels. The front desk refused to check if the room was ready at 2:00, 2 hours prior to the normal check-in time. While I do know the check in was at 4, it would have been nice to at least have them try to see if the room was available. The room itself had black mold above the shower, and the A/C fan in the condo was broken, so when it was 105 outside you had an option of either letting the room get excessively hot, or listening to the most god-awful fan belt squealing noise while the fan tried to cool anything off. So needless to say there was no sleeping. I paid for 2 non-refundable days and left the morning after checking in, less than a day after getting there just to cut my losses. Hands down the worst vacation I've ever taken had.

Dirty room, cold hot tubs and restaurants closed

I have stayed at Las Palmas several times and this was by far our least enjoyable experience. We still love it and it’s a beautiful property, but we were disappointed that the hot tubs were cold and the restaurant and grill were closed. Even on the weekend. In addition the room we stayed in was not very clean. There was stuff on the walls that looked like food (I hope) and the room just had a general sense of not being clean. We will return, but in the summer and definitely stay in a different unit.
