Location was excellent! House was amazing. Very spacious! Pool was a blast. Deer in the back yard (4 bucks, 2 doe, 3 fawns). Could not have asked for better! 5 stars!!!!

Hidden Gem!

This has become our perfect summer get away with family and friends! Feels like a nature preserve secluded in the the middle of the bustling city. With easy access to restaurants and the highway this is our go to place in SA! We love the vintage nostalgia of the home with sliding glass doors and the pool table. Tons of windows to watch the deer and foxes play in the yard. With tons of trees for shade and hammocks. The quiet hum of nature as you soak in the pool, and the tennis/pickleball court for a fun family tournament!!! Thanks to Marco and Edgar for always making sure we have exactly what we need!

Property was nice place to entertain my three grandsons. We were disappointed with the kitchen. It could use a good cleaning and could use more dishes and some kitchen linens. Edgar was very helpful.

San Antonio Oasis

Beautiful. Stunning. My family and a few friends stayed here Feb. 20-23, 2020. We could not have been more pleased. The home is gorgeous and the property is incredible. It is more breathtaking than the pictures show. The owner was very attentive and quick to respond to any questions. The on site caretaker was also very polite and helpful. 5 stars doesn’t do this property justice.

This was a fantastic trip and location until after I got home and received an email saying they were turning in an insurance claim for a towel bar. Now keep in mind that nothing was broken. I typically stay at 25+ vrbo locations a year. I've never once had an issue. I photo and video in and photo and video on my way out. So that I always have proof. Besides that the only other issue was that the caretaker of the property and his family were in the pool until late on Fri. & Sat. Night and that made it weird for us to enjoy it. However this wasn't as big of a deal as the scam pulled after we left. We intended on renting this location two more times this year but not after this.

The purpose of the Accidental Property Damage Insurance is to cover damages to the property. As a courtesy, we notified you that a towel rod had been broken and would be processed through the Accidental Property Damage Insurance in order to repair the damage. Because the property is inspected after every stay, it is our belief that the damage occurred during your stay. We provided you with a photograph of the damage and requested that you provide us with copies of the photographs and video in your possession. To date, the only response we have received has been this review. We regret that the lack of communication has prevented us from being able to see this matter in any other way. Regarding the pool, we openly state in the property description and contract that all residents are allowed access to the pool. The property caretaker of thirty years and his family only use the pool when they notice guests are not on the property. Upon return of our guests, the caretaker and his family typically leave the pool area within thirty minutes. Although this is not our policy, it shows how much he respects our guests’ experience. In any case, we are sorry this negatively impacted your stay.

Needs Attention

Although this property is beautiful, it is in desperate need of attention. The grounds were unattended to. Weeds and overgrown grass all around. The wildlife was enjoyable to see but it was hard not to notice the lack of care all around. There were many cobwebs and dirt covered walls. The home itself could be so beautiful if it was taken care of better. It reeked of mold and mildew and was constantly damp feeling. All showers backed up with water and were not very clean. The kitchen was absolutely awful, it felt damp and smelled. All of the drawer pulls are rusted and look filthy. Refrigerator also smelled terrible and ice we put in the freezer quickly smelled and tasted nasty in a very short time.The sink was dirty when we arrived. Food was caked in the drain and there were noodles stuck to the sink. The pictures do not convey the level of disrepair the house is in. We were also so disappointed by the lack of adequate function of the pool filter. It was cloudy and full of debris the whole time we were there. I now understand why there are no reviews since 2024. I spent over 3k to stay in this house and was pretty disgusted the entire trip. I have added pictures of the mold growing on the curtains in room with pool table.

We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay at our property. We appreciate helpful feedback because many times the only way for us to discover that something needs attention, like slow drains, is when our guests notify us about those issues. Humidity is unacceptable to us as well. The air conditioning unit is already scheduled for inspection and service. We will also be addressing the importance of minding AC settings with future guests, as allowing the fan to run on the "on" setting instead of "auto" is the most likely cause of indoor humidity. This is important not only for the comfort of our guests, but also for the protection of our property. As for the cleanliness, we have already addressed these issues with our cleaning crew. It is unacceptable, and there is no excuse. The refrigerator and curtains are also being inspected and cleaned or considered for replacement. As far as the grounds, we do have some areas on the 5 acres that are left in its natural state. The large area behind the house and by the patio, as well as the entrance, is manicured to maintain a good balance of open lawn and natural space for the wildlife appreciated by many of our guests. Furthermore, our on-site caretaker is always very willing to help guests find, fix, clean, or replace things as necessary. For instance, he stayed up until 1 o'clock in the morning to await delivery of your luggage from the airport. When asked about the pool, he made sure to clean it and apply the right balance of chemicals to ensure it was clear. Since the pool area is surrounded by full-grown oak trees, there will occasionally be fallen leaves, especially when there is wind and rain. Our on-site caretaker will often inspect the pool during the evenings and scoop out any debris that may have fallen during the day. Finally, we take serious issue with the assumptions and implications surrounding the statement that you "understand why there are no reviews since 2024." On the contrary, this property is so unique and in demand that we often have long-term renters, which accounts for the reduced frequency of reviews. We take pride in having 5 acres in the middle of town, and with the help of our guests productively communicating with us, we are able to keep the property in top condition for all to enjoy.

Very cool property but needs some love

Very cool property with lots of deer! I’m sure in the 50s this was the coolest house around. But! It’s pretty rundown. The pool definitely was dirty. Most of us didn’t even swim because it was so merky. Vacuum doesn’t work which is a bummer because critters are around so if you want to clean up the kitchen after cooking… the vacuum isn’t an option. kitchen is not very well stocked with basic cook wear and what is there is very old and looks gross. Bbq didn’t come with bbq cookware so we had to use whatever we could find in the kitchen. One of 3 lounge chairs at the pool is completely broken. Ice machine is broken so you’ll have to buy your own. Overall the house is very cool and looks amazing on the website but it definitely it is very understocked in usable items. Not a lot of extra linens or blankets, the laundry facility is gross and has missing buttons and has a bunch of dead bugs in it… also my pillow after removing the case had a huge dead spider in it. It accommodated the family but I wouldn’t even consider staying again. Please put some love into the ambassador house! Because it would be top notch if it was just given some love.

We are sorry to discover that your stay was less than stellar. We strive to immediately resolve any issues during your stay. Our on-site caretaker is always very willing to help guests find, fix, clean, or replace things as necessary. Also, thank you for letting us know about the broken items. With such a large house, broken items can easily go unseen by the cleaning crew and we do not find out until someone reports it to us. We have since installed new washing machines and removed the broken pool chair. We are also in the process of taking stock of cleaning items in the kitchen broom closet as well as the state of our current cookware and kitchen utensils to determine what needs to be replaced. Should you stay with us again, please do not hesitate to reach out for assistance when necessary. One of the unique features of renting our property is having someone on-site to address any needs.

The tennis court and pool were great activities. Comfortable rooms and beds. The house and grounds were fun to explore! The wildlife was amazing - so fun to see the deer, fox, squirrels, and clumsy kittens playing around the yard.

Amazing retreat in a great location!

This property was beautiful. You feel like you are out away from the city, but in reality it right in the middle. Everything is so close, and easy to get to but this property had everything needed. I highly recommend.

Family Vacation.

I rented it for my family and my cousins family. The property is beautiful with LOTS of big bucks, does, and fawns that we saw everyday. We enjoyed the pool outside and the pool table. The architecture of the home is really neat. Lots of updates but maintaining some of the original design. Main bedroom is at the opposite end of the house from the living area and is very quiet. It’s just as beautiful in person. The bathroom does face the front of the property where the driveway and garden house are so I wouldn’t enjoy a tub bath with the blinds open. Never had any concerns to talk with the owner or Edgar. He was available if we needed him but we had all the privacy that we needed. I would love to go again and stay longer,

Great property

Stayed at the property with extended family. Great entertaining space, we really enjoyed the pool table, table games, and the great views. My parents loved the deer that would visit daily while they had coffee. While it sits in the middle of a neighborhood close to everything ….it feels very secluded. Thanks for a great stay.

Beautiful country house in the middle of the city!!!

We loved this house! It’s so beautiful with a family of dear and a fox that seem to live on property! It’s so awesome to see them in the mornings and evenings. The house is very large. It is a bit dated but has everything you could possibly need. The only complaint my family had was that there are only 2 TVs in the house. One in the master bedroom and one in the livingroom. Other than that we had a perfect stay.

Super cool house perfect for families

We loved this house! Stayed for a week of summer camp for my kids. It really has everything you could want for a getaway - pool, tennis courts, pool table, a HUGE yard! We would love to return again next summer. Really, really great VRBO.

I really enjoyed my stay at this property. We had a family vacation of 3 adult children and 1 grand child along with husband and myself. It was the perfect spot I will definitely be staying here again. We played pool,hung out at the pool Enjoyed seeing the deers in the evening which made the trip even better. All went well. Edgar was very pleasant.

Quiet and peaceful get away

This property has amazing charm and a fabulous feel, like stepping on to a movie set. This house was definately built for entertaining. The indoor pool table, private pool, and tennis courts kept our family entertained all weekend. There are so many indoor and outdoor chill areas I recommend bringing your yoga mat, and hammock to fully enjoy the amazing yard and watch for the beautiful free roaming deer.

The house is gorgeous and spacious, surrounded by beautiful landscaping, deer and overlooking downtown San Antonio, in the distance. It was clean and beds were comfortable and sheets soft. The check in process was easy and stress free. There is another smaller house on the property that they rent out, but they are very upfront with that and wasn’t an issue with us, because we never saw them. The location is great and close to major highways, lots of restaurants and shopping.

Beautiful and Peaceful!

Beautiful property in the middle of San Antonio. Plenty of space in the house for entertaining. We had deer in the back yard every day and a family of foxes visited one morning. Edgar was very helpful with a minor internet issue and was readily available for any questions. Good communication with the owner as well. The location was excellent with easy access to many attractions, shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again!
