Amazing views! Wow. Large space. Very quiet. Great great pool and beach. Eduardo was one of the bed host we ever had. Ratio price/value to be in front of the sea like this is quite unbeatable! We recommend if you want peace and not looking for a social place. Even around Christmas it was almost empty. The outside of the buildings would need love. You can see that the Golden Age was in another decade….

Fernando is an amazingly kind and attentive host who is more than happy to answer any questions. This apartment is beyond words beautiful. The view is out of this world. We loved the bedrooms being on opposite ends of the apartment, each with their own bathrooms. The common living space is large and comfortable. The balcony is enormous and overlooks the spectacular beach. Deep soft sand and clear emerald green, sometimes dark turquoise waters. The waves were fun to jump and ride. The other beach (west beach) across the lot seemed calmer for those who do not want waves. The staff were professional and friendly. The pools on site are very well maintained and warm. The restaurant was convenient. Stock up on groceries in town and settle in for a gorgeous and relaxing stay. We can’t wait to come back!

Spectacular views

Lovely property, close to the water, with a constant sound of the surf. We stayed Christmas week, 2022, and there were very few people in the complex. But the pool was well kept and very clean, the restaurant was fine (we only ate there once). The unit had a few initial issues, but the hosts responded to my requests immediately, and sent follow up messages to make sure they were taken care of. I was happy to see that a microwave has been added. When you come, bring everything you need to the apartment: soap, detergent, water, coffee, spices, milk, paper towels--there is nothing there and you can't drink the tap water in the DR. I would have appreciated a list of restaurants and mini-marts nearby.

Luxury apartment with the best view. Excellent property staff and great owners. Highly Recommended!

My family of four spent a week at Ixia and Fernando's apartment at Vista Mare on the Samana peninsula. The apartment has all the amenities of a high end luxury home and plenty of space. The location within the property is what makes it extra special. It is a top corner apartment at the bottom left of the property so you have your own little corner of paradise to yourself. The apartment is only steps from the short path to the private beach where we spent most of our time. Ixia and Fernando communicated frequently throughout our stay and provided helpful tips about the area and things to do. The property staff at Vista Mare were all very helpful and many spoke English (which was very helpful given my limited Spanish). They responded quickly to one minor issue and provided a complimentary dinner for my family for the short disturbance to our vacation (we didn't really notice because we were on the beach the whole time!). Overall, I highly recommend this property and the owners for anyone visiting the area. We hope to return in the future.

Amazing location, location, location to relax

Amazing location to relax, because it’s view of the bay are so breathtakingly beautiful, so peaceful and relaxing. Because of the mesmerizing sound of the waves crashing. I had to turn off the AC and sleep with the doors open. To enjoy their relaxing sounds. There is access to two exquisite secluded and very private beaches. One side with calm waters and the other side with a bit more action with stronger waves. That were great for those of us that enjoy that kind of action. Location is key and there are abundant amount of activities for everyone in the family to enjoy. From the property you don’t need to drive more than 30 minutes on either direction. To have access to the best Samana has to offer. Including two of the top beaches in the world. The complex is very safe and secure. 24/7 security and the staff is always friendly and eager to assist you. It was hard to leave such a wonderful small paradise. Go out and explore the people are great, it was all safe. Thank you, Eddy

Amazing View and Surroundings

This is the rental for you if you want a truly amazing sea view in a fairly quiet but upscale resort. The unit is on the top left side of the block, bordering a large growth of tropical trees so we saw a good number of butterflies and birds. Our stay was before the coronavirus scare, but the whole campus was very quiet most of the time, picking up a little at weekends. The property is showing its age a little, but to reduce the rating based on that is to miss the point that this property sells itself on the view and its surroundings. We saw whales from the balcony all but one day, so be sure to bring good binoculars if you come during whale season. There is a beautiful beach directly in front of the property, and many times we were the only ones on it. You can hear the waves at night. There is a more popular beach within a 10 minute walk. The resort has a restaurant with world class views and excellent food, and two swimming pools which is good as the sea was too rough for swimming during our stay. Ixia and Fernando are excellent to work with, and Heriberto, the resort manager is super helpful too. The resort is quite a long way from town or any attractions so you will need to rent a car, take a taxi or risk local transportation if you want a change of scene. The resort is built on a steep gradient, but you can make arrangements for pick up and drop off at the front office. Elementary Spanish is helpful, but Google Translate worked for us. Bring a good amount of US$ as many businesses will not accept RD$.

The view sells this place! Astounding!

High on a hill overlooking a sandy beach, crystal clear water, and whales performing towards the horizon backdrop of mountains! The two bedroom was clean and well-equipped and nicely laid out if a bit dated. The beds very comfortable. We kept the air conditioning on low in bedrooms with doors closed but the expanse of sliding doors in the living area wide open. Delightful breeze and temperatures. Morning sun on the deck until just afternoon for coffee and whale watching. Down to sunny beach below for afternoon of swimming, shelling, and sunning. Up to clubhouse for Pina Coladas and sunset. Restaurants in Las Galeras 15 minutes away for good, inexpensive food. One day of whale watching by boat arranged by Maria in reception. She was very friendly and helpful. Negatives would be; no microwave, more towels needed, living room couch uncomfortable, starter kit needed (laundry and dishwasher soaps), furniture in need of replacing, bathroom sink and faucet poor design (splashed), water spots on flooring, restaurant on premises very lacking but good service and Pina Coladas. We were here in early February and were surprised how few guests or owners were present. The whales made up for lack of fellow travelers.

Incredible view, beautiful beach, and wonderful view.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. Ixia was wonderful to work with and did a outstanding job of communicating with quick responses. I would not hesitate to stay there again as the room and grounds were well maintained. The onsite restaurant was also very good - and also had a outstanding view. If there was only one item of note is that that there is a little bit of a language barrier (if you only speak english). Although the staff there was wonderful, their english is limited. But that is not really their fault - but ours. After all we are guests in their country - and we should probably work on learning their language better. Overall a great experience. Thanks much Ixia.
