Location was great but the unit is in desperate need of a renovation! Appliances 50years old and old carpeting everywhere- including the bathrooms.
We stayed here for 3 nights, it was enjoyable:
PROS: Clean/Comfortable, Good Bed, (most important things), Nice View of the Lake, full kitchen for making meals. Good location for sightseeing, on the way toward Incline Village, Sand Harbor, etc. This particular unit has air-conditioning when needed.
CONS: For fussy people, it cries out for updating, mid-80's decor and furniture (some people loved the 80's and still do!) in all rooms. The full bathroom is best example, dark even with all lights on. I had to put makeup on in the bedroom, jacuzzi bathtub is overly huge, not real comfortable for taking a bath OR for taking a shower (you need to be able-bodied to get in and out of tub--we were informed about that before renting). Otherwise, it's fully functional. I would recommend this for small families and seniors. There is a bit of traffic noise from the highway from this unit (it is further back on the property). Also, this detail needs to be modified: the photo shown next to the #6 listing with table and red umbrella is part of another unit, not unit #6. That cute red umbrella and inviting table is in front of another unit, so couldn't use the table. Tiny table outside our unit is too small for eating a meal on, so we always ate inside. That was disappointing. I hope that is changed for future renters who see themselves eating breakfast or lunch with a lake view.
In general, I recommend it, because of the beautiful lake views.
Neither kid, nor adult friendly. The tub/shower is very deep and difficult to get in and out of. Dangerous, in fact. There is not adequate lighting in the bedrooms or bathroom, making it difficult to see. Very outdated appliances. 30+ years old. It was clean, and that's about it.
My wife and I stayed here for a honeymoon trip this spring. Sheri was very helpful in getting us set up, and we enjoyed our stay greatly. The location is great, the views are nice, and the complex has a great dock, deck, and beach. This particular unit has more of a side view of the cove than a full-on view of the lake, but it's still very peaceful and attractive. The bed was very comfy, and it was nice to have the jacuzzi tub. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and cookware, and the private deck was an added bonus. The views from the inn's main deck and dock are wonderful.
The only downside of the trip was that Captain John's, the restaurant attached to the inn, is actually closed despite being advertised as open and having appetizers and drinks in the evening. I understand that it's opening back up soon so that complaint may soon be null and void, but it would have been nice to know before booking.
Overall, a great stay and great staff. We'll be back!
We loved the location, the management staff and the unit had all the amenities that we needed, was clean on arrival and the carpets had also been cleaned prior to arrival. Views were great, parking easy and everyone was helpful and very nice. Space was perfect for our 2 adults and 2 kids.
The unit needs a little TLC, for example updates on decor, toilet paper holders were loose, carpet ripping in places and stained, screen doors were a bit tricky and the fridge stuck out so kitchen light kept turning off when opening the door, dishwasher door tended to spring closed, which broke a drinking glass at one point. Would also be nice to build in a mid week clean...we used the same towels all week and things got pretty messy, with no access to broom or vacuum, laundry. The main concern is the bathtub/shower. We are young and agile, flexible (in more ways than one!) but this could be a real danger and could limit your ability to rent to more mature clients. The shower/bath combo should either be replaced or a warning given when clients rent. It would be nice to have an outdoor umbrella for shade on the deck either front deck or the lake deck. Just little esthetics and small touches would keep this unit current and more modern feeling.
I work in the luxury travel industry so am pretty particular in terms of reviews. Overall we had a wonderful time and felt relaxed and comfortable. We also lived at the lake for 10 years and so our stay was more about having a home base that was comfortable, safe, welcoming and kid friendly...and also affordable, we loved it for all those reasons! We would recommend to friends and family, with this feedback.
A perfect location to enjoy all Lake Tahoe has to offer. Only a short walk takes you to North Tahoe Beach. Take your pick of 14 world class ski resorts including Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Diamond Peak and Northstar. A ten minute drive takes you to: the charming and historic town of Truckee; the Village at Northstar with ice skating, shops, cinemas, and restaurants; or the north shore casinos to test your luck at the tables. For the more active type, play golf at a variety of courses, walk to the beach volleyball courts, or the National Recreational Park providing outdoor activities including, tennis courts, circuit training, disc golf, soccer and baseball fields.
