Tahoe Donner is our favorite place for families in the Tahoe area. Please visit TDs wonderful website for daily updates on special events and activities as well as information on the numerous amenities available to our guests for a nominal fee with guest cards. In the summer spend your days hiking, biking or horseback riding on the extensive TD trail system, enjoying the private beach for homeowners at Donner Lake, swimming in 3 pools/ hot tubs, golfing, playing tennis. At Northwoods clubhouse enjoy movie nights, dining at Pizza on the Hill on the fire-pit warmed patios while your kids play on the play structure a few feet away. BBQ and play Bocce Ball or sand volleyball. Your possibilities are endless--plan on good times, fun people, and treasured memories. We keep notes on the various hikes and swimming holes we discover and enjoy sharing the information with guests.
In the winter, teach your kids to ski at Donner's own beginning/ intermediate ski hill. What it lacks in terrain, it makes up for in price! On Tuesdays of this past season, parents and children under six ski FREE! The cross country ski center is one of the most extensive in the area. There is also a fun sledding hill. Our home is approximately 15 miles from Northstar resort as well as proximate to Squaw, Alpine, Sugar Bowl and Boreal. Snowshoeing right out the backdoor is our dog's choice activity!
Part of the town of Truckee, our home is a short drive to historic downtown complete with restaurants and shopping as well as summer concert series.
Our comfortable cabin is the perfect center from which to explore it all!

About Erin Robbins
A few years ago our family experienced a surprising bump on our life path when our then 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is a common, non-contagious autoimmune disease where the body confuses the hair follicle as a foreign substance (like a germ), attacks it and causes hair loss. Alopecia progresses differently for each individual and can cause patch hair loss all the way to total baldness. As well, hair can regrow at any time only to be lost again. In our daughter's case, she lost all her hair and is a fabulously beautiful, brave, adventurous and BALD 7-yr-old! Though we all went through an adjustment period, we arrived at a place where we all celebrate how unique our daughter's situation is and concluded that being bald would never limit her life possibilities, rather serve as a reminder of how special she is. Everyday our daughter takes risks and shows courage--just walking into a restaurant with every eye following you and every child (often loudly) asking about the girl with no hair, requires this. In the spirit of our daughter's inspiring bravery and confidence, we all began living life and making choices differently. Our recent purchase of this home is one way in which we follow our daughter's example, take risks, and follow a 'no excuses' philosophy to living our dreams and passions. If a 7-yr-old who faces the world bald and so very different can do it, can't we? Can't you? Join our family in getting out there, creating adventures and trying new things. Tahoe is the best place in the world for it! If you would like to learn more about alopecia areata and the amazing children and adults whose lives this disease affects, please visit the National Alopecia Areata Foundation's website. Thank you for sharing our story, The Robbins Family

A wonderful cottage in Truckee!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The home was well appointed - clean and fresh, and very charming. Easy instructions for entry and usage and departure. Plenty of room for two families, and very kid and dog friendly. We had fun playing in the snow just outside the back door but it's in a great location in Truckee with proximity to Squaw and Boreal and literally up the street from Tahoe Donner and Donner Lake! An overall wonderful experience. We will definitely be back! Thank you so much!
Wonderful cabin in Truckee!
This place is such a gem. It is clean and comfortable, and the hosts are super friendly and helpful. It was the perfect place for our two families, each with kids and a dog, to have some fun in what turned out to be an epic amount of snow. The house is warm (the gas fireplace was on and waiting for us upon our arrival), the beds are cozy, and it was really easy to feel like home. I really appreciated Erin's thoughtfulness in the additional info she provided once it was clear there would be more snow than expected. We'll definitely be back!
A very cozy and comfortable cabin.
My family had a wonderful time especially the kids. It was their first time spent playing in the snow. I would definitely love to do it again. I'd also like to mention having all the cleaning supplies, laundry room, dish washing stuff, lotion, etc., essentially all the emenities of home, available made it convenient to keep your cabin and, our items, clean and dry. Made our stay that much more enjoyable.
We were lucky enough to arrive the day after a fresh snow fall. Got to enjoy the view of our 3 kids playing in the snow through clear windows from the comfort of warm couches by the fire. This home is cozy and efficient! Loved all the little extras that made it comfortable and convenient. We made many memories and will definitely be wanting this cabin again. Thank you to the owners for a wonderful first time cabin rental experience!
Great place to stay with family!
This was a great place to stay with our young kids. Our three year old loved the back yard and large deck outside for playing. The kitchen was a joy to use, beds were really comfortable, the large windows provide gorgeous views, and the flat front entry made it really easy to bring our things in and out. We did decide to keep the kids limited to downstairs, since they were too young to safely use the loft area on their own. We'd definitely come back.
Fine for sleeping
Was very excited about my stay in Truckee at Heidi house but unfortunately found the place dirty and run down. The house has a lot of potential so hopefully will be a little nicer in the future.
Thank you for your perspective. This is our first negative review, and we will take your feedback and work to improve the items you found unsatisfactory. Past guests have complimented our cabin's cleanliness and we want each guest to feel the same! A few recent incidents may have contributed to your sense that the cabin was run down/ not clean.
1) after 5 years of wonderful service, our beloved cleaner moved. The new cleaner we have worked with over the last 5 months has not met our standards, and you were actually her last clean for us. We visited the cabin ourselves this weekend to do some detail cleaning and get things in order for our next cleaner. We are optimistic that the level of cleanliness/ orderliness of the cabin will return to what our past guests expect. I will note that while I was dissappointed after inspecting the cabin after the new cleaner's cleans, I reached out to return guests to see if the cabin met their expectations from the past, and no one offered complaint.
2) A few recent guests with dogs negatively impacted our carpets and white slip covered sofa. Though Tahoe dirt which we all come to the cabin to play in also takes its toll on the carpet by end of summer. We have the carpets cleaned each year right before we expect snow to fall and give our carpets a break! We also wash the slip cover every month, but a zipper failed and after many washings it needs to be replaced. We have ordered a new couch (actually before your stay, but it will not be delivered until 2nd week of Sept) to replace the slipcovered couch. All of the remaining furniture is in excellent condition. We also made the tough decision to no longer allow dogs to accompany their owners due to over wear and tear. After our last canine guest booking in Sept, we plan to replace our carpet. We will update photos to reflect the refreshing once complete.
Again, I apologize the cabin fell short of your expectations. I appreciate being able to offer an explanation and share the actions we are taking toward improvement.
