About the property

This three story vacation home in the beautiful Endless Mountains is centrally located just 4 miles south of Dushore on what is locally known as 'Ringer Hill'. Part of the original 1850 homestead of Francis Xavier Lusch, this home is privately situated on 4 acres and within a short drive of World's End State park, Eagles Mere, the Loyalsock Trail(hiking to the 'Haystacks') and Rickett's Glen State park. The area boasts great fishing in the big and little Loyalsock Creeks and Hunters Lake & Lake Jean as well as some picturesque swimming holes, countless hiking trails, majestic vista views and just the simple beauty of nature which surrounds you everywhere you go. This is truly a great getaway meant for relaxing.

In this spacious home, you will find 5 large bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Four bedrooms & 2.5 baths are on the main and second floors and are available to groups of eight or less. Groups of over eight will also have automatic access to the bedroom & full bath in the basement. Access to the basement bedroom with a queen bed & bath can be made available to groups of eight or less by paying a fee of $50 (for the entirety of your stay). The first floor has a bedroom with a full-size bed and a half bath, and on the second floor there are 3 bedrooms and two full baths; a master bedroom (and bath) with a queen-size bed, another with a full-sized bed and one with two twins. Those three bedrooms are also furnished with comfortable futons for relaxing and extra sleeping space (2 doubles & 1 single). The main bathroom on the second floor is very spacious. Bed linens and towels are provided. To enjoy the outdoors and views there are 4 porches/decks. The rear porch is covered and is 25 feet in length at ground level. It's a great place to sit and relax while grilling dinner! From there you enter the home's mud room on the main floor. The front deck is also covered and is 46 feet in length. This deck can be accessed from both the living and dining rooms on the main floor & is furnished with an outdoor dining table & a number of comfortable chairs. The third outdoor space is a 10 foot open deck off the master bedroom on the 3rd floor. The living room, dining room, kitchen and mud room are all very large, which provides comfortable space for a large group. The kitchen is completely equipped with a gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and cooking utensils/dishware. Coffee and a variety of cooking spices are provided for your convenience. We also provide minimal complimentary paper products (napkins, paper towels & toilet paper) to start you off on your stay, but you should plan to buy/bring extra with you. The living room is furnished with large, comfortable, pillow-back sofas and a chair. The love seat and over sized chair recline for complete relaxation while reading or watching TV. About John & Kay Krakoski

Hi I'm John, this is my family; Kay my wife, daughters Jessica and Sarah, and son John Michael. I am the 5th generation of my family to own this land. This is the 3rd piece of the puzzle since my mother had to sell all of it back in 1980. My wife and I were fortunate enough to be able to retire and purchase these properties back. We rebuilt the old farmhouse just down the road in 2008 and acquired the property next door (Lusch Acres Retreat) in 2010. We are excited about sharing the beauty and peacefulness that 'Ringer Hill' and the Lusch Acres properties afford our guests.

John & Kay Krakoski purchased this chateau / country house in 2012

Why John & Kay Krakoski chose Endless Mountains

Sullivan County is considered the 'Gem' of the Endless mountains. At 2,100 ft of elevation and heavily forested you enjoy the cool summer nights. Also, there are only 6,000 full time residents in the whole county. The mountainous terrain, streams, lakes, State parks and Forest has retained all of the beauty and peacefulness I remember as a small boy growing up on 'Ringer Hill'

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Lusch Acres Lodge has a private setting away from the main highways (Rte 87, 487 & 220) but is centrally located to the county as a whole so it is very convenient to the many attractions the county has to offer and it is also only a 5 minute drive into Dushore for groceries, church, and restaurants. So watch the Deer, Turkeys or Bear from the decks or head out on one of many adventures.

Wonderful, cozy house with all the comforts of home!

  • 5 of 5

We just finished a 3-day stay at this property and would love to go back some time! I honestly can't think of one thing that we needed that they didn't have: games, books, plenty of cooking utensils and supplies, tons of space in rooms and bathrooms, and even decorated for the holidays! It had all of the comforts of home but much neater ;-). The beds were really comfortable and the house was nicely secluded. The owners were extremely responsive to any questions that we had. A great little trip for us!

Gathering of four couples

  • 5 of 5

I rented the lodge from October 16-19 for our annual gathering of four couples. I had previously rented the lodge for a week in 2013 and had my siblings and spouses there for the beginning of the week and our kids and two grand daughters there for the end of the week. The property worked very well for us back then. Since that time they have added a large bedroom and bath downstairs which rents at an additional one time $50 charge. I rented the downstairs and it worked well to have 3 1/2 baths for four couples. The property met our needs very well. All the rooms are large so you don't feel crowded. The kitchen is large (with a dining table) and the additional dining room sits eight adults very comfortably. We did our meals by "buffet" by setting the food on the kitchen table and then serving ourselves and moving to the dining room to eat. Worked very well. The porch is a good place to have coffee and just relax and visit together. We were fortunate to be there when the leaves were around their peak color and that added to the enjoyment. We would definitely rent the lodge again.

Great Vacation Property

  • 5 of 5

Kay and John do a wonderful job of offering a spacious and clean house that is totally ready for everyone to settle in and relax. It is well stocked with the basic essentials. It is a great vacation spot in a wonderful location in Sullivan County. After three years, we still enjoy the experience and plan to return.

Another Grand family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We love this home away from home in the Pennsylvania Endless mountains. Everything is exactly as described; the kitchen is fully equipped and the outdoor seating is perfect. Every morning, we watched does and fawns in the field next to the house. John and Kay are very helpful and friendly hosts. The 220 House in Dushore is excellent and the Forksville General Store is a must do; breakfast and sandwiches are delicious and the town is so cute. Being an outdoor family, we visited the Haystacks, World's End State Park and Ricketts Glen State Park (2x). We also walked the country roads; very safe and most of the drivers waved as they drove by. The only issue; which isn't John or Kay's fault, is the local tourist newspaper has multiple errors regarding the local establishments. We advise you call the wineries and eating establishments prior to going. This was no big deal to us because there's always something to see on the drives; antiques stores, art galleries, scenic views, etc.
