Host and Hostess with the mostest

John and Kay are the best! We have stayed at their property before and love it! This time I messed up my dates and arrived with friends only to find someone staying at the house. They were checking out the next day, but that left us with no place to go. After talking to John and Kay they were gracious enough to let us stay in another house for one night. We then moved to the house that I had booked. Kay went above and beyond to accommodate us. Thank you to the best host and hostess!

Autumn Family Weekend

My family stayed at the Lodge for a weekend to verify it will be suitable for our 2016 family week long reunion. Everything is more than suitable; the sizes of the rooms, the kitchenware, the furniture, the outdoor sitting. I could go on for a very long time. We will be back because the only thing wrong with our weekend was it was too short. We are an outdoor family and the location of the lodge is perfect; Ricketts Glen State Park, Worlds End Start Park, the haystacks are all close and when we get back to the Lodge, we will have the perfect place to enjoy the quiet while sitting on the porch waiting for the deer to visit. We're already looking forward to returning for a week in the summer.

Such a wonderful property! John and Kay are amazing hosts. Our family had rented the smaller house next door several times but decided to try this one this time in order to have more space for everyone. We all loved it! Love seeing deer in the mornings, tons of stars at night, plenty of indoor and outdoor places to sit and socialize, and the house is equipped with everything you need for your stay. We will be back!!

This property is a great—set back 200’ or so off a fairly quiet road with peaceful woods behind. The home is well-furnished, the kitchen stocked with quality (not flimsy) cookware and goods. The bedrooms and baths are spacious. Our group of seven had plenty of room to gather—on the front porch, in the large dining room, and even cooking together in the kitchen. It never felt overcrowded. The fire pit under starry night skies is where we spent a lot of time. It’s what we like to do! The back porch as another great spot to relax. We’d gladly stay here again and highly recommend it.

The Lodge

Our family loves coming to this area. The Lodge is perfect for us- large enough - clean and comfortable. The grandkids love to ride their bikes and fish. We enjoy swimming and hiking in the state parks nearby. Our stay this year was filled with good times - eating around the large dining room table and having campfires. Already planning next year’s stay! Thank you for sharing the Lodge with us!

About the host

Hosted by John & Kay Krakoski

Host profile image
Hi I'm John, this is my family; Kay my wife, daughters Jessica and Sarah, and son John Michael. I am the 5th generation of my family to own this land. This is the 3rd piece of the puzzle since my mother had to sell all of it back in 1980. My wife and I were fortunate enough to be able to retire and purchase these properties back. We rebuilt the old farmhouse just down the road in 2008 and acquired the property next door (Lusch Acres Retreat) in 2010. We are excited about sharing the beauty and peacefulness that 'Ringer Hill' and the Lusch Acres properties afford our guests.

Why they chose this property

Sullivan County is considered the 'Gem' of the Endless mountains. At 2,100 ft of elevation and heavily forested you enjoy the cool summer nights. Also, there are only 6,000 full time residents in the whole county. The mountainous terrain, streams, lakes, State parks and Forest has retained all of the beauty and peacefulness I remember as a small boy growing up on 'Ringer Hill'

What makes this property unique

Lusch Acres Lodge has a private setting away from the main highways (Rte 87, 487 & 220) but is centrally located to the county as a whole so it is very convenient to the many attractions the county has to offer and it is also only a 5 minute drive into Dushore for groceries, church, and restaurants. So watch the Deer, Turkeys or Bear from the decks or head out on one of many adventures.
