About Lucille Moore

Lucille and Tom Moore are long term Lanikai residents. The family has lived here for over half a century. They founded Hawaii's first hi-tech company which built air traffic control systems in 33 countries.

Lucille received many awards including one presented to her in the White House by President Ronald Reagan. She was the SBAs Small Business Person of the Year for Hawaii and served as Regent for a local college.

Tom was CEO in Singapore for the Asian operations of NorTel, a Canadian multi-national telecom company. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and has an appointment from the Secretary of Commerce to the Hawaii/Pacific Export Council.

Lucille Moore purchased this estate in 1965

Why Lucille Moore chose Lanikai

Geography and culture give Lanikai a special ambience. A volcanic ridge and low hills embrace Lanikai and isolate it from the rest of Oahu. It is quiet because there are no through roads. Lanikai is a multi-racial place which values its precious ocean and native Hawaiian heritage.

The Moore's welcome international visitors.

What makes this estate unique

This rental differs from other tropical rentals in that it is an upscale property with Italian marble tile in the bath, original art on the walls, new flatscreen TVs, sliding glass doors that open up the view. Unlike Waikiki and many beachfront locations our place is quiet, secure and serene.

Beatiful view and wonderful hostess

  • 5 of 5

We decided to visit the island so my husband could participate in a race and to check off a box on my mothers bucket list. Lucille is by far the best hostess ever! My mother had an accident during our visit and Lucille and Tom went above and beyond to try to make my mother as comfortable as possible. Lucille even emailed after we arrived back home to check on her (I was very touched by this!)

The view from the lanai is amazing and the sunrises from there are incredible. We wanted some peace and quiet since we live such busy lives normally and this was perfect. It wasn't directly on the beach and out of the busy beach traffic but close enough for us to get to the beach in a matter of minutes. Lucille and Tom provide all the items you would need to visit the beach that you don't want to have to pack (including snorkeling gear). There are A/C units in both bedrooms but we never used them due to the breeze that cools everything down perfectly.

There were a few ants in the small galley style kitchenette but Lucille took care of that immediately. My husband is already planning our trip for next year to stay with Lucille and Tom again.

Our visit with Lucille and Tom will be remembered forever.

gem hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here 4 years running and love it more each time! Tom and Lucille are the best! They have met several family members on our stays and always welcome with aloha spirit. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when we visit the Kailua area. The view stays in my mind all year between our stays!

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

This 2-bedroom suite, as part of a larger executive home was perfect for our family of 4 adults. Lucille and Tom were wonderful hosts befitting of the aloha hospitality of Hawaii. The accommodations were clean, roomy, and “homey.” We were in the islands just this past August when there was record-breaking heat and the usual trade winds had decided not to show up —not even at night. The air-conditioning units along with the ceiling fans in each bedroom were lifesavers. Being able to walk to the beach to cool off was also nice. The view of the Moke Islands from the front bedroom looked just like the photo on the website. What a delight to see every morning! In addition to an amply-equipped kitchenette, they also provided beach towels (which are too bulky to pack and so very much appreciated) and boogie boards — above and beyond what I expected. Lucille and Tom, now if you could’ve only controlled the weather, I would’ve rated this a 6-star stay!

Great Stay, Great Owners, We'll be Back Here

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Tom and Lucille's apt., it's just a few minute walk to many beach access points and the view from the deck is fabulous. Tom and Lucille are very gracious hosts who greet you on arrival and give you the rundown on the apt. and Lanakai, very much appreciated. They're absolutely lovely we wished we could've spent more time with them. They provide lots of beach towels, boogie boards and beach chairs. Lanakai beach is a short drive away so just throw everything in the car and go. The nearby beach access points get you to the ocean but not really beaches, but there's room for one or two people to hang out on beach chairs for an ocean fix.

There was a heat wave when we were there but each bedroom as an AC unit. My son (13 yr old) used his in his room every night and his room was nice and cool, my husband and I slept with the screen doors and windows open and it would cool off enough to sleep without the unit. There's also a little kitchen which was very useful, we kept lots of breakfast and lunch stuff in there. We look forward to staying here again.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this location for a few days prior to leaving on a cruise out of Honolulu. The location was perfect and Lucille and Tom were the perfect hosts. We especially enjoyed the view from the deck in the evening, the quietness that surrounded the area and the beaches very close by. The suite with the two bedrooms worked very well for us.

What a lovely vacation spot!!

  • 5 of 5

We truly loved our one week stay. The location and the view were perfect. More than we expected. We enjoyed the wonderful beach and small town appeal. It was our first stop before cruising around the islands of Hawaii. Lucille and Tom where so kind and hospitable. Our rooms were comfortable, very clean and attractive. The deck was the best part!!! We loved it and spent most of our time on it when we were not touring or site seeing. This property is highly recommended. Barb and Mike

Lanikai is a tropical residential area with one of the finest beaches in the world. We are located on a hillside above the beach. Low mountains comprise Kaiwa Ridge and isolate Lanikai from the rest of the Island--there is no through road. President Obama hikes the trail above our home on his Christmas holidays.
