We are a retired couple who fell in love with Punta Cana, and after an extensive search found Villa Mare. We immediately decided that this would be where our vacation condo would be. We now have three condos in Villa Mare.

This is more like a Villa than a large, multi-family apartment building. It has only 14 units. We liked the perfect location across from the beach, the spacious and beautifully landscaped exterior, the generous size of the units, and the convenience to supermarkets, restaurants & shops.
What makes this Condo unique
Quite, comfortable third-floor condo with a large terrace to relax on. You can cook in the spacious, well equipped kitchen or walk to nearby restaurants. Just 25 meters to beach, which is across the road. Our able administrator will help you select tours, or you may select a tour company from a list which you will find in our condo, along with restaurant information, golf course information, etc. Our administrator is very friendly and is always willing to help our guests. There are no hidden charges.

Lovely week in Bavaro
My son (20) and I had a lovely stay in Laurina's condo. It's a third floor unit that catches all of the ocean breezes. The weather was so beautiful that we never had to use the air conditioner. And the large wrap-around, covered balcony is a nice feature.
The beach is across the street (which I should add is dead end, so very little traffic). . We would bring the beach chairs down with us and hang out by the Huracon Cafe. That way if we wanted drinks, we could just order from there. We never used the pool as we prefer the beach.
The condo is in a nice little neighborhood. It is an easy walk to many restauants, a bakery, and a couple of small grocery stores. We intended to cook more, but found that we would make breakfast and lunch at home and go out for dinner.
We did not rent a car and did not need one. There is a security guard at the front gate around the clock.
The only con, as mentioned in the previous reviews, was the music coming from the restaurant behind the unit.
Laurina was quick to refund the security deposit and electricity deposit. And she is very quick at answering communications.
Thank you for staying in our condo. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and the service provided. I am mindful of your suggestion of providing lounge chairs for the terrace (though there is a large table with six chairs). I will attempt to bring some lounge chairs with me on my next trip to the condo.

Overall a very good vacation rental.
My wife and I have been vacationing in the Caribbean for over 30 years and have a pretty good understanding of what constitutes good value for a vacation. Additionally we rent a property out in Canada and know what our customers expect.
This property is in a great location with direct access to a wonderful beach and a short eight minute walk to restaurants and grocery stores.
The apartment was clean and very functional with an amazing terrace that we ate our meals on, played board games on and just sat and relaxed, read and enjoyed afternoon cocktails.
There were a few minor issues that needed attention and we are pleased to say that the landlord,Lorena, reacted quickly to resolve. We felt some of the things should have been brought to her attention before we arrived but appreciated her eagerness to deal with them as soon as she was made aware.
The condo administration needs to follow her example and be more responsive to issues under their control...pool maintenance.....broken pool-side lounges and chairs....minor irritants that should have been dealt with quickly. The pool's water was not very inviting for the first few days but once the proper balance of chemicals was found became a favourite cooling off area for us. We were able to take beach chairs from our condo unit to sit on and so that problem was solved through Lorena's forward thinking as well.
The only other negative would be two things beyond our landlord's control. The noise from the restaurant beside and behind us started early and ended late requiring windows in our bedroom to remain closed. The noise from loud loud music across the road near the beach was often annoying but in fairness usually ended before we went to bed.
It is reasonable to expect some noise if you want the benefit of proximity to the beach and other amenities but for those wanting a quiet and totally peaceful time this might be a problem.
Overall a very good month with wonderful weather and a good value vacation. We appreciate Lorena's concern and responsiveness. Will most likely return.
I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay in my condo. The location is one of the reasons I bought this condo (and two others) – the proximity to the beach, restaurants and grocery stores. We also like the spaciousness, and the quality of construction. I have spoken to the condo administrator of the complex and hopefully she will do a better job in the future. I welcome your return in the future. I enjoy having tenants like you.
Not exactly a luxury apartment with first class finishings.
First, I must say that the owner is very attentive and will work to resolve problems, unfortunately she has a local manager who does not appear to be responsive. When we had an issue I always had to include the owner in my email before there was any response.
We had several problems that detracted from our ability to enjoy our vacation either because of the problem itself or because of the local manager not being proactive. The owner did make a well appreciated effort to compensate us for these problems.
As for the apartment itself it could be much better with some TLC. For example, there are no screens on the patio doors or several of the windows so they could not be left open. The apartment was not cleaned properly and had a musty odor in places along with stains on the ceilings.
The furniture is high-end purchased from Ikea.
You called me before you rented the condo, asking about screens. I told you the patio screens had been damaged by the strong winds, and the replacements had not arrived so you could rent another condo if you wished to do so. There were screens on the bedroom windows. If you had checked my condos in the other building, listing numbers 4350373 and 901758 on www.homeaway.com , you would see that they have patio door screens and screens on all the windows.
As for the cleaning, you e-mailed me that something had been spilled in the microwave. My administrator brought a cleaning lady right away, and she not only cleaned the microwave, but cleaned the entire condo again.
Regretfully, when the cleaning lady laundered the bedsheets, she put them on the bed before they were dry and the damp pillowcase and sheets created a musty odor. You wrote me that “the musty odor on the bed pillow was caused by the cleaning woman having put damp linen on the bed” and that “someone had at some time made this bed with linen that was not dry.” My administrator’s wife gathered up the bedding and took it to the laundromat when it was discovered.
As for the stains on ceiling in the hallway, there was a leak coming from the air conditioner in the condo above. You wrote to me that, “The guy came and looked at the ceiling and figures it is from a leak in the suite above. He said the ceiling in the hallway will have to be replaced.”
I appreciate your help in acting quickly to inform me of problems. I did my best to remedy these situations. I again apologize for all your trouble. I will always respond to tenants' needs.
I hope you found some comfort in my inviting you to enjoy dinner at a fine restaurant and refunding a major portion of your excessive use of electricity.
Nice Condo, Close to Amenities
We really enjoyed our stay in this condo unit. It is on the 3rd floor so there are stairs but it was a great way to get some exercise in. We lived most of our time on the balcony which was super large & completely covered overhead if there was rain. Being on the 3rd level was very nice as we got the wonderful ocean breezes & no mosquitoes or other insects. That was a real bonus for us. The condo was clean & spacious & everything we needed for our 3 month stay was provided. Laurina Holte was very friendly & accommodating. If we had a question or problem she took care of it immediately which was greatly appreciated. We had to pay for power up front & the difference would be calculated at the end of our stay. Laurina owed us money in the end and she was very prompt at issuing us a refund. The condo Unit is in a very good location. The ocean is across the street & there are many restaurants & mini markets within a very short walk. We definitely would recommend this condo unit & would like to thank Laurina for the opportunity to stay there & all her help.
We bought this condo for the very reasons you liked staying there -- convenient location only steps to the beach; lovely breeze on the spacious terrace; within walking distance to the markets; restaurants and coffee shops; and no need to rent a car.
We also enjoy the lovely furnishings and the spaciousness.
