License to Chill! 3 Bedroom Semi-Oceanfront with Pool and Hot Tub

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Outdoor Living at it's Best!

A treehouse on Hatteras Island. License to Chill takes advantage of it's unique location and lets you experience the beach from every room. The house has 3 bedrooms and is split into two sides connected by outdoor decks. The west side of the house includes main living area, kitchen, master bedroom and bath. The west side faces the beach and includes 3 sliding glass doors that open to ocean breezes. The East side of the house is connected to the west side by first and second floor decks and includes another master bedroom and bath and twin bedroom upstairs. The house was redecorated and updated in 2012 to include new bedroom furniture, couches, and flat screen T.V.s. The beach is a directly across the street and beach access is less than 100 yards away left or right. The views from the house are enhanced by double lots across the street, rather than houses, dunes and ocean are what you see. A brand new 6 person hottub was purchased in 2012 and moved onto the pool deck so you can soak under the stars. Previous guests rank the pool and large pool deck as the best amenity of the house hands down. This is your chance to experience Hatteras Island as it was meant to be, outdoor living with modern conveniences.

About Michael Tomasini

We first experienced the Outer Banks when traveling for business in 2007 and quickly found ourselves returning to Hatteras Island whenever we got the chance. Hatteras Island really seemed to the perfect place to get away from it all and after traveling extensively we knew we had found a place we would always choose to go over any other.

Michael Tomasini purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Michael Tomasini chose Hatteras Island

After looking at many properties on Hatteras Island we found ourselves ranking the view and character of a place over the number of bedrooms and amenities. License to Chill provides us with a vacation feel because of it's unique character and proximity to the beach.

What makes this cottage unique

The third floor roof deck is great place for cocktail hour, coffee or stargazing. The pool deck is the perfect way to extend your beach day.

2nd time staying there and still in love

  • 5 of 5

Hands down the best place for us on OBX. Fits our needs to a tee. The pool alone is worth every penny. Short walk to Island Creamery, Blue Whale and the Beach.

Quaint House with Excellent Amenities

  • 5 of 5

License to Chill is a charming house partitioned by a multi-level deck with a fantastic view of the ocean from its crow's nest. Even the yard has it charms, and the amenities, a beautiful fenced-in pool and a hot tub, were alone worth the price of admission. We enjoyed nearly everything about our time there, from the easy beach access, to the high-quality nearby restaurants and the cozy little stores, the sound at the day use area, which is just right up the road from License to Chill, and more. If you have a bike, you might want to bring it, because there are seemingly endless bike paths on which to ride down there. As for the house itself, the only suggestion we have is for something to be done about the A/C unit, which is right next to the television and chainsaw loud even on economy mode. Other than this, the house was perfect for a beach vacation. We appreciated the small touches so much: food and water dishes and play toys for our dogs, the raft and noodle for the pool, the immaculateness of every room in the house, the showers on each level, the hose on the bottom level next to the mini boardwalk, etc. Overall, we loved our stay at License to Chill and couldn't look forward to being repeat customers more!

Our first trip to Salvo

  • 3 of 5

The house was good, it's camp like. It was nice to have a pool and beach access close by. We were a bit disappointed with the construction workers starting at 7 a.m every morning including Labor Day because of the house being constructed right across the street. FYI, avoid Lisa Pizza.

Amazing Stay! We will be back!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our week in Salvo, NC and staying at License to Chill. Where do I begin!! What an amazing week we had. It was everything we hoped for and so much more. The owners really go out of their way to ensure you have a wonderful stay. Very prompt with replies and so very helpful. The house was cleaned and ready for us early, and they owner let us know so we could get our vacation started. We arrived and the key and linens were right there waiting. We couldn't believe how fresh and welcoming the home is. The huge deck, the wonderful chairs for laziness where many hours were spent! The house was perfect for just the two of us, but we can't wait to take another couple with us next time. Everything you need to cook or blend was there in the house. We loved that. The house was very clean and cool. The one issue they really need to check on is in the second section of the house with the loft. That AC unit needs to be replaced. It sounds like a jet taking off! Our master bedroom was in the main house and it's AC unit was perfect. We loved we actually could spread out and used both bathrooms. So nice! I love the decor of this home. I think they really took extra care to decorate and make you feel so welcome. Now let's get to where I spent the majority of the stay.....the pool!!! Oh that pool. I love that pool! It was clean and just so relaxing. We took a few lounge floats and I did just that. We also took a pop-up canopy with us so we could put it out by the pool over the table since there really isn't much shade down there. It was just perfect. We used the hot tub, which is huge and also so clean. We loved turning the colored lights on at night. Hot tub then pool, hot tub then pool. The walk over to the beach was easy to find and yes it is a haul, but it is a haul no matter where you stay in OBX as you need to go over the dunes. We took walks in the morning along the big beach and at night to see all of the brilliant stars. Just a peaceful and relaxing week. We actually regret we didn't book for 2 weeks, but next year we know we will! On a personal plus, it turns out my college friend who I hadn't seen in 20 years lives year round down the street!!!! Even better to have friends now so close. Everyone we met, from the restaurants to surf shops were so nice. We ate Lisa's Pizza and ordered in Austins steamer pots several nights! We can't say enough about this unique lovely house! See you again soon!!

Car: necessary

Welcome to Hatteras Colony on beautiful Hatteras Island. Salvo is the perfect place to get away from it all. The beach is wide, quiet and seems to stretch on endlessly. There are no highrise hotels and the homes are hidden from view by the grassy dunes. There are plenty of family owned restaurants and shops nearby and the local ice cream shop is a short walk away. Sit on the beach and watch the dolphins swim by, or take advantage of the boundless recreational opportunities offered on Hatteras. Deep sea fishing, kiteboarding, windsurfing, paddleboarding, surfing, and kayaking get you out on the water in this outdoor lovers paradise. Head up to Nags Head or Roanoake Island for shopping opportunities from outlets to quaint antique shops. Take a day trip by ferry to the unique seaside village of Ocracoke and cap off your vacation. Hatteras Island is the perfect place to experience the Outer Banks as you imagine it!
