The rates displayed on this website are for DBB at umSisi House. Please be advised that we also have Full Board rates available upon request as we specialise in being a gourmet getaway!
Kruger Lowveld: The Kruger Lowveld region is as well known for its spectacular beauty and adventure activities as it is for its game viewing potential. The area abounds with things to do and you can spend days exploring this magical part of the world. Historical sites and villages, old wagon routes and monuments mark the lives of the characters that came to Mpumalanga seeking their fortune. Jock of the Bushveld, the mining towns of Pilgrim’s Rest and Barberton - with Africa’s first stock exchange – are just some of the picturesque and colourful chunks of history to learn about and experience. In Mpumalanga, you will find something to appeal to everyone in your party - regardless of age and fitness levels.
Panorama Route: The magnificent Panorama Route is best known for its secret history, cultural heritage and dramatic landscapes as it passes through the rugged mountain range of the northern Drakensberg. The most spectacular stretch of the Panorama Route is the Blyde River Canyon (proclaimed as a nature reserve in 2004) with its dramatic mountain scenery and panoramic views over the escarpment. The 25,000 hectare Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve starts at ‘The Pinnacle’ and follows a winding path for 26 kilometers via ‘God’s Window’ and ‘Bourke’s Luck Potholes’ to the ‘Three Rondawels’. It is the third largest canyon in the world with a drop of 800m, the second largest canyon in Africa and the only green canyon in the world boasting a rich diversity of plants.
umSisi House is privy to an African village called Masoyi where guests will be invited to experience the true essence of Africa, and its people. This ability to interact with the local community, and support projects that benefit them directly, will satisfy the needs of those wishing to promote the principles of ‘responsible tourism’.
umSisi House also scores highly on the ‘green front’. We have adopted solar power, boast our own fresh-water springs, collect rainwater, are planting an indigenous forest, recycle all of our waste and fill our pantry with herbs and vegetables from our organic garden which is fertilised by compost from our worm farm.

Trip of a lifetime ...
Acerca de su propietario/a
Propietario/a: Amanda
Paddy and Amanda have been working in the tourism and hospitality industry for the last 12 years. Leaving England in 1999 they travelled southern Africa extensively in their own Land Rover to create a comprehensive library of photography and video footage. Together they have driven over 75,000 kilometres through desert and dunes, across plains, down rivers, over pans and into the delta in their Land Rovers in search of the very best wildlife and wild places that southern Africa has to offer.
In 2003, they set up Genesis Room, an environmental studio, working to promote awareness of ecology, nature, eco-tourism, conservation and travel within southern Africa. They were involved in a number of promotional design and copywriting projects for clients such as Botswana Tourism and Sanctuary Lodges.
In 2005, they decided to leave their desks and return to the road to update their photographic and video library. During the course of this expedition, the concept behind Black Pot Safaris was born leading to its successful launch in 2006 and operation during mid-winter months only. This allowed Paddy and Amanda to accept a position overseeing the maintenance, management and marketing of a luxurious, privately owned guest house in the Lowveld later that year.
They resigned this position in May 2009 to set up umSisi House. This project is the culmination of many years hard work and their own vision of the perfect villa-holiday experience.
Their doors opened on 1 March 2010.
