About Brian

Brian O'Keefe owns Mooretown Sawmill as well as several rental properties in the local mountain area. Born and raised in Mooretown, Brian had a dream of carving out the land and creating a successful sawmill.

His dream became a reality in 1987. Mooretown Mill is located in the beautiful mountains of Northeast Pa. near the unforgettable Rickett's Glen State Park. Here at Mooretown, we use local timber to produce a quality product.

That same product and craftsmanship can be found in all of Brian's rental properties producing a beautiful rustic feel. He takes great pride in the quality of his work and enjoys sharing that with others.

All of our renters will tell you that Brian will go out of his way to ensure your stay is unforgettable.

In his spare time (if any) he enjoys jaunts on his KTM motorcycle, and is an active member in many organizations dealing with educating the youth of PA in the logging industry; his passion and joy.

He lives at Mooretown with his Black Labs, Echo and Bear Cub.

Brian purchased this house in 2009

The woodwork on the inside of this cabin is gorgeous!

Had an amazing time. Hiked the falls...yes all 7.2 miles. Absolutely gorgeous! Kayaked Lake Jean which is beautiful. Even saw a bald eagle. The weather was perfect. At the end of the day spent a relaxing evening around the fire. Even saw some deer running in the back yard.

We had a wonderful experience at the cabin. They have everything you need. The cabin is beautiful and clean. The only thing I think they need is marshmallow sticks. Everything else is prefect.

The cabin is cozy, comfortable, and conveniently located to amazing hikes and outdoor activities

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautifully crafted cabin. It's close enough to towns and the state park to stay busy, but quiet enough to enjoy some much needed down time. Modern day amenities like tv and wifi made the kids happy, but the time spent around the fire pit and playing cards in the beautifully refurbished living area was just the family time we needed. Only complaint would be the cabin is right off the main road, so at times we dealt with some road noise.

Back yard became a mosquito swamp when it rained. Couldn't use picnic table.

Kitchen was great.

Needs more fans.

Great cabin interior.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking care of our cabin and for your review. We are glad you appreciated the craftsmanship of our renovated cabin. We agree, none of our Guests have ever commented that the kitchen was missing anything! Our summer sheets for the bed are replaced every Memorial Day and our winter sheets are replaced every Labor Day. With brand new sheets, I cannot address 'terrible linens'. We supply a padded mattress pad for the pull out couch, and based on your comment, we have just purchased a 3" foam pad for the sleeper sofa (or fouton) as well. The other sleeping arrangements are foutons and cots, which are listed in our cabin description. One of the best features of the cabin is the back private/wooded area. While we always put in a request fpr good weather for our Guests (!), rain, heat, and the woods will lend to mosquitos, just as it would in one's own backyard. I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy the private back area/summer kitchen. We do leave citronella candles and mosquito spray at the cabin. We appreciate our Guests feedback and do make changes as possible based on the feedback. We want every Guest to have an exceptional stay in a cozy cabin. As a side note to future Guest, below is a personal note this Guest left for us. We hope it helps you make the best decision for you and your family: "Thanks for everything. I wished our schedule could have given us just one more day. The kitchen and bath were wonderful and everything was so clean! The fire pit was great and there was plenty of wood. We weren't able to use the picnic table because of rain the first night and standing water underneath the second night. Maybe some more stone in that area could help. I also brought an air mattress and sheets along and we were happy to have it. We put one of the kids on the pull out sofa (because kids can sleep anywhere) but I dont think most adults would have been able to use it. The cabin was charming and spacious. My brother the architect commented on all the electrical outlets! We had a great time despite the rain! Thanks again."

Excellent location, very clean, prompt return on security deposit.

Stayed at the Cozy Cabin in June 2017. The cabin is beautiful and very clean. The bedroom is a good size. Bathroom is perfect. Kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, etc. The living room is very spacious. Fire pit was a great way to relax in the evening. Brian and Stephanie were wonderful to deal with. Minutes from Ricketts Glen. Internet did not work but I am sure Brian and Stephanie will look into that. Cabin does sit on main drag and you can hear traffic. Highly recommend!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review and the kind comments. The cabin has been a labor of love and we take a great deal of pride in it. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and all the amenities. We are sorry about your experience with the internet. It is tested every time the cabin is cleaned and based on your comments about poor connectivity, we have requested a service call to test the router at the cabin. Please remember that being on the mountain located in the woods, there can be occasional connectivity issues, especially if it should rain.....I guess a small downside of living in the beautiful mountains!

Great Place to Relax with Friends

  • 5 of 5

This is my third time visiting this cozy cabin and I love it more and more each time. We had a friends getaway weekend to hike the Falls Trail at Ricketts Glen. The cabin is minutes away which is very convenient. Once we were done hiking we spent our time relaxing by the fire pit & babbling brook in the backyard of the cabin. I could sit out there all day. We had such a nice time.

The cabin's craftsmanship is lovey and it has everything you need. It's only one bedroom, but the living area is very spacious and can accommodate a number of people. There are two futons, a pullout couch, and plenty of room for air mattresses. The pullout couch (like most pullout couches) is not the most comfortable, but their is a mattress pad provided, which is helpful. We ended up bringing our own air mattress, but those are actually provided as well. The kitchen is fully stocked with all cooking utensils, dishes, pots & pans, and pretty much anything else you would need, as well as a BBQ for grilling.

We love it here and will continue to come back.

Thank you Brian & Stephanie for sharing your cabin with us.
