When was the last time you experienced a 50 mile view of the rolling Blue Ridge mountains or saw the Milky Way on a clear night. Have you ever felt your cares floating away on a cool mountain breeze? If not, you owe it to yourself to spend a weekend or a week at this house on Burnt Mountain in Dawson County.

This 3 bedroom 3½ bath Burnt Mountain house in Georgia is situated on one of the southern most ridges of the Blue Ridge Mountains making it the closest rental to the metropolitan Atlanta area. From the three story decks, enjoy a spectacular 120 degree long view of Amicalola Falls, Mount Yonah in Lumpkin, County, and other mountains up to 50 miles away on a clear day. Located in northern Dawson County, this house is approximately 6 miles from Amicalola Falls State Park and Burt’s Pumpkin Farm. Located near Mount Oglethorpe which was the early original Southern Terminus of The Appalachian Trail. Nearby towns include Dahlonega, site of the nation’s first gold rush; Jasper, located in the Georgia Marble Belt; Ellijay, the apple capital of Georgia; Blue Ridge, with its scenic railway, and Dawsonville, famous for racing drivers and moonshine. Attractions include rafting on the Chestatee, Etowah, Amicalola, and Coosawattee rivers, hunting and fishing, biking, and hiking. Situated on Burnt Mountain this is a favorite site for bicyclist to enjoy the challenges of the climbing mountain roads. Motorcyclist will enjoy being headquartered in the mountains for easy day trips throughout North Georgia. This house is also in close proximity to the Appalachian Trail, the AT approach trail, the Benton MacKaye Trail, the Hike Inn Trail and the Wildcat Creek Campgrounds, making it an ideal base for day hikes. It borders the Burnt Mountain Track of the Dawson Forrest Wildlife Management Area and is near the Wildcat Creek Campground. Hiking is available with permits.

Unfortunately, due to the rain/fog we didn’t get to see too much of the view, but what we did see was spectacular! The house was nice and clean! We had enough space as a family of 8 to all be comfortable. We cooked almost every meal there. One thing that could be mentioned is that the internet doesn’t work/is so very spotty that it might as well not work. No fault to the owner/manager, but it could pose a problem for some people.

Marvelous Mountain Retreat!

We enjoyed a family reunion here. It was mid-February and very cold, but we stayed warm and cozy inside this beautiful home. The view is incredible! We had been to Amicacola Falls before, and we had a view of the falls and the lodge from the back porches. Eight of us stayed comfortably here. The location is very private and quiet, and it was easy to find. Everything is just as advertised. We will definitely return!

Amazing Get Away

If you are looking for an out of the way vacation oasis, this property fits the bill. Very private home, well maintained with all that you need. Spectacular views of the mountains at sunrise and sun set from the three levels of decks. Large family group had a great time and this house was perfect for us to catch up, enjoy nature and relax! The only issue we had was with garbage pick up- we had to keep the garbage inside because we had a bear visit us 2 nights in a row!

Wonderful Thanksgiving with Family

We celebrated Thanksgiving with our grown and married children in the Amicalola Vista House. The house is lovely, and very very clean. Each couple had their own space with plenty of area to be together also. There are a few minor furnishings problems that come with trying to stock a new house, but it is obvious that the owner and his helpers care a great deal about the comfort of their guests.

Awesome view, House is okay not a 5 star,but price fair for the view this house has. Road to house not bad at all. 3 Story’s so there is stairs to go up and down.Very quiet and private, No fire pit outside and no yard area for kid to play and the gas grill was useless rusty out. Bottom floor of house had a little musty smell. But overall not a bad house for the price.

Getaway time in the Mountains

Overall we enjoyed out stay at the Amicalola Vista House. The house is nice and spacious and was very clean. There were 5 adults in our party and the home was roomy for us. However there were a few things that could use some attention. We cooked our meals during our stay and some of the pots and baking sheets really need to be replaced. Also there is no salad bowl or mixing bowls. I would also recommend that there be more silverware added. There is a very limited amount.The patio furniture on all of the decks was in need of repair or replacing. The TV in the main floor area was the only TV that you could watch anything on. There was a TV in the primary bedroom, but it could not access anything because it was not connected to WiFi. There didn't seem to be any WiFi available at all. Thankfully this was not a huge problem for us or the other guest although it was an inconvenience.There are no other TVs in the other bedrooms The fireplace was very nice and cozy. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well. So overall our party did enjoy our stay and the views from the decks are amazing. We all are game players and the dining table is great for not only eating meals together at, but also playing games. Everyone said that they would stay here again. Hopefully next stay there will be some new deck furniture that would be safe to sit in to admire that wonderful view.
