I purchased this property because the Piedmont neighborhood was up-and-coming in 2003. Now it is a vibrant neighborhood, close to downtown and many amenities. It is within walking distance of the Alberta Arts District, the Historic Mississippi Avenue district and the North Williams Corridor. This is a quiet residential neighborhood, great for walking and bicycling and close to the Peninsula Park Rose Garden.

What makes this house unique

The 1925 Craftsman bungalow has original charm including French doors, a unique wood-burning fireplace, a formal dining room, high coved ceilings and hardwood floors.

We could each have a bedroom for privacy with plenty of together time in the living room and dining room. We enjoyed having the games and were amazed at how many amenities were provided. Comfy & Convenient

We had a family vacation which included 5 adults and 8 kids - and this home worked for us! Gary was a terrific host, and the home is stocked with so many unexpected things like games for the kids, free wine tasting certificates, books to read, and even extra toiletries in case we forgot some (and we did!) He went above and beyond for us when we asked him if he had a basketball for our boys to borrow. He said he didn't, but would go out and get one - and he did! Our boys were very happy to play with it at a nearby park. (I was hesitant to write this because I don't want to set up Gary to have to do this all the time...but I thought this was a good example of how helpful and accommodating he was.)

There are 4 queen-sized beds, and Gary had plenty of high-quality air mattresses for us to use, too. It was a bit cozy, and two of us slept in the living room, but our family is close and we didn't mind. There are only 2 bathrooms, which was a bit challenging when we all wanted to shower, but it really didn't pose much of an issue for us. Gary had plenty of towels and linens for us to use as well.

There's a Starbucks on the corner, and a Safeway grocery store just one block away. With so many people we made most of our meals at this home, and it was very convenient. Gary has more dishes than I've ever seen in a private home...we never ran out, even with all 13 of us eating multiple meals and snacks each day.

The location of the house was very convenient for us, because we planned to spend time in downtown Portland as well as hiking around Multnomah Falls. It only took us 15 minutes to drive here from the airport.

This was our first visit to Portland, and our stay at this home made for some great family memories!

Great group gathering

Home was incredibly well stocked, organized and clean. Beautiful house with a spacious layout. I was initially unsure about having the home owner/manager Gary down below... as we didn't want to disturb him. But he kept well to himself after the initial check-in. Gary was very easy to communicate with, always happy to help and was very flexible. If we have a large group gathering in Portland again, we would definitely rent out his home! Beautiful neighborhood with Starbucks, Safeway and Walgreens right out your front door (1-2 blocks away)!

The Piedmont is Perfect!!

The Piedmont was the perfect location with all of the necessities! Gary's attention to detail from the decor of the house to the needs of the people staying in his home is superb. We will definitely look him up again when we visit Portland in the future.

Great Property in great location

Gary was extremely easy to work with from booking to checkout. The property is walking distance, or a short uber ride to several great neighborhoods that truly are what makes Portland a great and unique city to visit. Regardless of if we were on a bed or one of the provided Air Mattresses--we all found them to be comfortable for sleeping. I would return to Gary's house in a heartbeat.

Weekend in PDX for wedding

Our good friends had a Portland wedding and we needed a place to accommodate 8 family members. We needed enough room, a convenient location to the city and nearby conveniences. This house filled all three requirements and then some. Four bedrooms, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, air conditioning ( was warm that weekend) and plenty of great information provided by the owner of home, Gary. He personally met us upon arrival and showed us all the features of the home, provided info on things to do, and offered free wine tastings at a few places if we wished. He is proud of this house and rightly so. It is a beautiful home and so clean and tidy. The location is perfect. A Starbucks and Safeway a block away, 10 minute UBER to downtown, easy access to I-5 , located in the cool Piedmont area, and close to the Mississippi district too. Thanks Gary for a great stay !!
