What we intend to become our retirement home in a few years, our 1300 sq. ft. home is on the Anclote River between the Greek Sponge docks and the Gulf.
Grill fresh fish and set up dinner on the dock, then boat out to the keys. Play golf nearby, hike or bike the Pinellas Trail that slips through the center of old Tarpon Springs.
With 2 bedrooms, 4 beds, we are set up for a very comfortable relaxed vacation for 4, with a pull-out queen in the living room for the occasional visitor.
We have replaced all the appliances. Our HVAC is sterilized at the intake with a UV filter to keep the environment healthy even for sensitive souls, like us. A laundry room and garage keep things comfortable. The best place to spend time is on our dock with a floating platform, which allow easy access onto our kayaks.
We have two bicycles for your use, and a great Necky tandem kayak as well as a solo that give you intimate access off our dock to the river and bayous.

About Scott and Betsy Taylor
Scott is an airline pilot, Betsy an artist, who are happiest near the water. Life-long sailors who summered on sailboats in Maine, and a lake cottage in Southern Ontario, our home was inland in the Finger Lakes region of Western NY. We have recently moved to the Boston area, nearer to two grown children (and our grandchildren). Our 3 year old grandson loves fishing or lying on the dock to observe the dolphins hunting together, watch the crabs and lizards in the mangroves, or the eagle battle it out with the ospreys in aerial stunt flying.
Scott and Betsy Taylor purchased this House in 2009
Why Scott and Betsy Taylor chose Tarpon Springs
After visiting the Tarpon Bayous and Anclote River and Key for years, friends found this sweet location and talked us into buying it to upgrade and share with them. Purchased from the family of the original home on 'Pioneer Point', we are in love with the setting and are continuing to improve the home. Because we use it as a second home it is outfitted as we need a home to be! The newest project is a dock rebuild with a ramp to a floating dock for kayak access. Shallow draft boats can tie up to the pilings.
What makes this House unique
Lovely, twisted live oaks frame the water view from the house, and the dock is a favorite spot to gather for watching birds, dolphins, the local fishing fleet and the sunset. Well around the bend in the road, it becomes a quiet, private neighborhood, safe from through-traffic, yet a fun bike ride or boat ride to the beaches. Kayak south to the Greek Sponge Docks for great food and entertainment, to the bayous, or north to Miss Vickie's to eat lunch on the water. Boat out the river to Anclote Key and Shark Island for serious beach and swim time. When indoors, newly installed central Air super UV filtration system keeps the home allergen-free.

Third visit to this property
If you are looking for a quite, clean home to spend time at ,this is the home. It is not far from the beaches and restaurants. Just sitting on the dock waiting for the dolphins to swim by is relaxing. I hope Scott and Betsy don't retire next year so I can visit once more.
Joe, you're in luck! We can't retire there for a few more years. It will be available.
Beautiful and Relaxing
We had such a wonderful time at this house even with the impending hurricane. Scott & Betsy stayed in touch throughout and everything went off without a hitch. This house has everything you could possibly need or want. The dock was AMAZING and a lot of time was spent out there fishing and catching some rays. Will definitely come back again. Thank you so much!! Barbara & Steve Wyatt
Unique and fun coastal getaway
Our time at Scott and Betsy Taylor's comfy home in Tarpon Springs was wonderful. The quaint feel of historical downtown Tarpon Springs blends nicely with the coastal experience.
Highlights of our stay include catching red drum out of the solo kayak (one was big enough to tow me a short distance before breaking the hook on my jig), pastries from Hellas Bakery (repeat visits due to lack of willpower), smoked mullet from the fish market next to Rustie Bellies enjoyed with a cold beer and crackers (we are from Kansas City where smoked meats are a religion), and day trips to the Dali museum and Dunedin. Sunset and Fred Howard Park beaches are very close when you're in the mood for sand between the toes.
Beautiful mid century modern home right in the water and in a quiet neighborhood.
Every amenity you would want is here!
Went kayaking several times, dolphins close by, manicured yard, immaculate home with charm and character. Scott and Betsy cared about our stay, safety and comfort; the perfect hosts.
Thanks for the great review. April is a lovely time to be there!
Quiet and peaceful
Our first morning we were treated to a manatee family feeding in the river! Dolphins became daily visitors. This home brings back memories of the Florida in the 1960's....green tile bathroom, parquet tile floors! Fun and funky. Be sure to hang the hammock and observe the birds. Would suggest you bring some outdoor chais to place on the deck as you monitor the boats and wild life float by!
A Beautiful Calming Reconnection With Nature
We found that this Tarpon Springs home to be exactly as the pictures depict. The views of the Anclote River are outstanding. From the glassed in Florida room, the sun rises over the Sponge Docks, and then sets over the Gulf everyday. The beautiful old live oak trees provide shade so that the Florida room is never in full sun - no need for blinds or any window treatments.
But pictures can not give you the feeling that this home leaves with you. There's no rush to do anything. Just take your morning coffee to the Florida room to catch the first tourist fishing boat leaving for a day of fishing in the Gulf. And then keep watching the parade of private and commercial fishing boats leaving for a day on the Gulf.
At 4:00 in the afternoon, the boats all return to the Sponge Docks for you to review. Just in time for a nice glass of red wine to celebrate the day's catch and to watch the sun lower over the Gulf.
There's no need to prepare your own food. There are many wonderful Greek restaurants in the area featuring inexpensive food and fresh fish from the Gulf. And did I mention Greek beer? Happy hour at Paul's starts at 11:00 am!
We will never forget our time along this Gulf- Access Home.
Later in the season on hot days take a short trip to the Leepa Ratner Museum of Art a few miles South, and the Dali Museum and Chihuly Collection at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg.
Located on the quiet side of the Anclote River, between Tarpon Springs and the Gulf. Boating from our calm neighborhood on the river to the Gulf and beaches on the Gulf. Grapefruit League summer training games Feb 22-Mar 31!
