Turtle Casa penthouse

The penthouse at Turtle Casa has an amazing view and was great lodging for 2 couples. We each had our own bedroom and bath and the deck overlooking the ocean was the perfect place to eat meals and relax. If you like to snorkel, this location allow easy access to the reef and you can spend as much time as you like exploring. The beach is not a sandy white beach, but we still took walks and saw a number of cool creatures- starfish, a sea cucumber, and a sea snail. Marnie is extremely good at communicating and answering any questions you may have. If we choose to return, I would stay here again.

I love this place! It is so beautiful....

Our trip to Roatan was so amazing. Turtle Casa (penthouse suite) was gorgeous! Very well maintained and clean. It had all the amenities that we could ask for. I loved that we were greeted at the airport and shown everything we needed to know about the property and where to go for local groceries and shops. The sunsets were like none we have ever seen. We had the perfect view from a huge dock which is part of the property. We were picked up at our dock every morning by a local dive shop and dove all the top spots around Roatan. We also took the kayaks right from the dock to nearby snorkeling and saw so many beautiful fish, lobster and coral. Lot of great local restaurants to choose from....will definitely be back to this location!! LOVE IT!

Excellent accommodations, outstanding host

We stayed in the Penthouse Suite at Turtle Casa. It was spacious, clean, tastefully decorated, and well equipped. There’s a deck for relaxing, with chaise lounges, chairs, and hammocks for relaxing in the breeze. A seating area on the dock is a nice relaxation spot, and it’s easy to go off the dock in kayaks for a little snorkeling. We rented a car, which we found helpful for getting out to explore. We did some diving with Sandy Bay Divers. They are nearby, and they provide really good service. Speaking of service, our host Marnie has really thought through the guest experience, with detailed instructions and advice on using the amenities and exploring Roatán. During our stay, Marnie was readily available for questions. I highly recommend Marnie and Turtle Casa,

Relaxing Tropical Getaway

Turtle Casa was fantastic, extremely well appointed, beautifully furnished, and centrally located. The kitchen has plenty of supplies for cooking if that interests you. If not, there are restaurants in walking distance. We enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking and took a charter that picked us up right on the dock!!! Wifi enables you to keep in touch. This is a great place to enjoy your tropical getaway!

Great island getaway!

I stayed at Turtle Casa with friends in April and we had a fabulous time! The home has been extensively updated recently which made the stay even more enjoyable. Very comfortable beds and nice quality linens, towels and pillows (a must for me!). The Penthouse is really sweet and has the feel of a very expensive hotel. The gaming suite was terrific for congregating together and having fun in the evenings. The large covered decks on all levels with loungers and hammocks made mornings and evenings really pleasurable for relaxing and just taking in the sights and sounds of the ocean and sunsets. We rented a car so having the garage was also a real bonus, keeping our car safe and cool. Turtle Casa is in a local island neighborhood, away from the tourist areas, and the local people were quite friendly. We enjoyed this aspect as West End and West Bay are quite busy and noisy - lot's of fun for night life and going to the beach during the day, but nice to retire to Turtle Casa in the evening where we could enjoy the peace and quiet of the ocean (there were the occasional local dogs barking, but all in all it is quite peaceful and quiet). All of the activities we were interested in were very close to the house so it was never a big inconvenience to make the short trip to all the places we wanted to see. All in all I highly recommend Turtle Casa for anyone considering Roatan for their next vacation, particularly if you're interested in snorkeling, diving or fishing. The kayaks were great and the snorkeling out in front of the house was some of the best we found on the island. Diving operators will pick you up right at the dock and the next door neighbor has a fabulous fishing charter as well. His sunset cruise was amazing and all we had to do was walk out the door and get on the boat! Thanks again for a great trip. We hope to visit the island again and will definitely stay at Turtle Casa!

Very very nice!

Turtle Casa was great. We stayed in the Penthouse suite, which has a large deck that overlooks the caribbean. The sunsets are amazing. During the day it’s a great place for lounging in the hammocks. There are two bedrooms - the “master” suite and the “guest suite”. I stayed in the guest suite, which has it’s own bathroom with double sinks, shower/tub, and toilet. The only difference I found between the two bedrooms was the master had a king size bed. My bed was very comfortable (I’m going to see if I can find the brand when I get home). Our friends stayed in the Gaming Suite, which is just below us. This is a great space too, with the same large deck facing the sea and lots of windows. The pool table is in great shape, and I had fun with the electronic dart board. The house is very solidly constructed, which meant that we really didn’t hear any noise coming from below, even though our friends had 2 small, energetic children. When I travel to foreign countries, I like a combination of eating out and cooking my own meals using local ingredients. I found the kitchen was equipped with pretty much anything I needed (make sure to get spices at the store, as there were only the basics when I arrived). When we felt like going out for dinner or lunch, West End, with all it’s restaurants and night life, is less than a 10 minute drive. We had a car, and I highly recommend having one anywhere you stay on the island - there is so much to see! But if you want to use a taxi the property managers have special drivers they can hook you up with. Another thing that’s important for me is “chill” space: I like to hang out and do touristy things, but I also love a peaceful spot to retreat to - Turtle Casa was perfect for that. The dock is cool for hanging out, swiming, boating, or catching water taxis. There are fishing guides that run their operation from there! I brought my fly fishing equipment, and found out that Sandy Bay is actually one of the better spots on the island for Bonefish and Permit. I caught 3 bonefish *right in front of the house* - the first was almost six pounds! My friend’s daughter had a blast catching reef fish right off the dock. There’s also kayaks which guests are free to use at any time. We went to Spooky Channel daily, which has amazing snorkeling (it’s just a 5 minute row!). I could have hung out at the house exclusively and did all the snorkeling, fishing, kayaking and relaxing that I wanted. It was just GREAT.

Great property!

I have rented Turtle Casa 5 times over the past four years. I bring a team of 16 from my church to do work in the Colonia in Sandy Bay. This property very comfortably sleeps 16 and has plenty of room for us to gather all together for meals and fellowship. While the property has always been nice, recent improvements and upgrades to the building have made it even more so. There are spilt a/c unite on each floor and in the bedrooms so folks are able to cool their own space to their level of comfort. There is plenty of seating both inside and out on the decks. The kitchens are well stocked with dishes, cookware and small appliances. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of linens and towels provided. A washer and dryer in the garage was a great convenience. The entire building in very clean and well maintained. The neighbors in this quiet community have always been very nice and friendly but, for your own safety and piece of mind, you are able to secure the entire building with a gate on one side and a locking porch on the beach side. The private dock is a great place to enjoy taking a cooling swim after a hot day. The only slight inconveniences my team experienced are one of the safes being inoperable (we were able to lock our passports and small electronics in a safe on another floor) and having to make an extra stop after a long trip to pick up our key. It would be great to either get the key at the airport or have someone meet us at the unit. I would highly recommend Turtle Casa. It is great for smaller groups or families as each floor can be rented individually or for a large group if you rent the entire property.

Everything I wanted

I stayed at Turtle Casa in April of 2016. Our group had 5 people - My husband and I stayed in the upstairs apartment with my two friends, and our other friends stayed in the gaming suite. Firstly, the location was perfect for me - when I travel, I like to feel “at home” - I’m not really a hotel or main-drag type of vacationer. I like buying and cooking the local foods, and being off the beaten path. I like to feel like I’m in someone’s home, rather than that ticky-tac feel of a hotel or condo. The kitchen had everything I needed, and I loved shopping at the local grocery stores. While Turtle Casa is off the beaten path, it’s only 15 minutes from the north end of the island, with all it’s restaurants, night life, and hotels, so if I wanted to access that kind of island life, it was easy. And the decor, layout, and overall feel was very warm (and the beds were VERY comfy!) When I travel to an island, of course I’m primarily there for the beach and the ocean. The fact that the house is right on the beach, with it’s own dock, and it’s own sea kayaks put me right where I wanted to be. Each morning and afternoon I would paddle out to the reefs in front of the house with my snorkeling gear. In Roatan, the entire island is ringed by the most amazing reefs. I saw sea turtles, eel, flounder, parrot fish, and even a manta ray! My husband likes to fish and it just so happens that he was able to fish for bonefish right in front of the house (literally). The dock (also right in front of the house) is also the departure point for deep sea fishing for Dorado, Tuna, and a bunch of other large fish. Talk to the next-door neighbor about this - he’s one of the best guides on the island! While my husband was out fishing I enjoyed r-e-l-a-x-i-n-g on the porch, looking directly out to sea. If I got too hot, it was easy to walk out on the dock and take a quick plunge, then sun myself in one of the hammocks - yes, on the dock! The sunsets were amazing, btw. It’s kind of funny, because when I’d read some of the other reviews, I didn’t really know what to expect . . . it seemed like snorkeler’s and diver’s always love this place, but since I only snorkel occasionally and never dive I was a bit skeptical. I was definitely pleased with our choice. Probably the only thing negative I could say is that I didn’t really understand how to hook up the bottled water to the refrigerator (the manager came by one day and showed us). I hope we can make it back one day!

As the Managing Owner, I work closely with Mark and Katie Waller, original owners of Turtle Casa (and great Partners), my husband Scott, a pilot with AA (which makes flying back and forth easy) and our awesome Property Manager, Johney. We are all here to make your time on Roatan truly exceptional!

We chose Roatan because of the Islands undeveloped natural beauty and value in a Caribbean Island destination. Unlike so many tropical places, Roatan still has a wonderfully authentic Island feel. We specifically chose Turtle's Casa's location because it's quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas.

And there's plenty to do right at the house. Our Dive partner will pick you up for diving right from the dock. Our next door neighbor runs a Deep Sea/Fly Fishing/Island Excursion business which is also based from our dock. The sea kayaking and snorkeling right in front of the house is some of the best to be found on the island with the reef just offshore.

There are beautiful beaches on Roatan that you can go to and not see another soul for hours. There is also the great commercial districts with great restaurants, beautiful beaches and lots of activities. We also Love that the Island is mountainous and covered with tropical rainforest.


Roatan is an Island experience that you'll want to come back for again and again. There's just so much to see and do!


Turtle Casa makes you feel like you're on a luxury yacht when you're on the large covered decks or in the living areas of the home. The wall of windows facing the Ocean bring the spectacular view and sunsets right into your living room. It is truly a spectacular experience to swing in the hammocks in the early morning hours or during sunset, listening to the ocean and feeling the breeze. And you'll be glad to have the quiet Turtle Casa provides being located in a small local neighborhood away from the tourist frenzy.
