This unit provides a panoramic view of the ocean framed by palm trees from the living/dining and kitchen areas through twelve foot sliding glass doors. Relax on the expanded private lanai overlooking the surf, marine life and unsurpassed Kona sunsets. This second floor end unit in the desirable beachfront "E" building is quiet, secure and private. Full remodel completed in 2014 provides a bright and contemporary feel that is open to the view and ocean breezes. The updated kitchen features a dishwasher and eating bar. The ceramic tile bathroom has a walk-in shower. The bedroom includes a wall of windows that can be opened to the trade winds and the sound of near-by waves.

To help you enjoy your visit, there is beach gear, binoculars to watch passing whales (in season), guidebooks and a reserved stall in an adjacent lighted parking area. The unit has secure wi-fi for excellent phone and computer connectivity. We have assembled an on-island team that takes pride in ensuring that everything is extra clean and in good repair, as well as a concierge if you need assistance in making any special arrangements for your visit.

Kona Isle delivers the old Hawaii that visitors dream about. It is a small, intimate resort of low rise buildings nestled in lush, pristine landscaped grounds. A heated fresh water swimming pool next to a private beach area affords plenty of space to soak up the sun or relax with a book from the Kona Isle library. There is also an adjacent ocean-side surf fed pool. Gas bar-be-ques are maintained for your use in a lighted ocean front picnic area, a favorite gathering spot for sunset viewing. Kona Isle is a non-smoking & no pets faciliity.

Kona Isle is situated in the heart of the Kona coast on the ocean side of Ali'i Drive about 1 1/2 miles from Kailua-Kona restaurants, shops and nightlife. Both a convenience store and farmers market are within a 1 block walk. The Alii Drive shuttle bus also stops near-by. Some of the island's best snorkeling and surfing spots are less then a ten minute drive.

The laid back, serene ambiance within the complex coupled with the convenient location accounts for the many repeat visitors. This unit puts you out front, right on the ocean -- no roads to cross, no buildings restricting your view, no vehicles parked in sight. How close is the ocean?                                                                   Kona Isle Oceanfront Condo Perfect

                                                                  We were really thought our stay at the Kona Isle condo was all we hoped it would be. Great location being within close proximity to town, airport, harbor (as I scuba dived). The sound and view of the ocean at all times was always welcoming. Although there was no air conditioning , there were ample fans to keep air moving as well as naturally from windows and screen door. If you had AC everything would have been closed up, and would not heard the ocean. After many trips up and down Alli'i Drive I don't there were many places I would have preferred more. All the amenities made it like home. We encountered a couple minor problems which were immediatly resolved upon contact with the owner. Loved it.

                                                                  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Jim and Penny's condo. The view was so fabulous and the surroundings so beautiful we hardly felt like leaving to explore the area. This will be our first choice to stay when we return to the island.

                                                                  Conveintly located on Alii drive. Great ocean view with sunsets every night and was able to spot wales on many occasions from the lunai. Unit was up to date, clean and included a washer and dryer. No a/c , wasn’t a problem for January but could be in July/August. Could use a new mattress, for those with back issues, bed had box spring with a 2” foam pad on top. Paying good money to rent the unit, make an investment for a nice mattress for future guest. Had one other minor problem that was quickly taken care of by the owners who indicate to me that they care. A big plus is Brian the property manager on site, he truly cares about everyone and makes you feel like a guest. So the big question is would I stay here again ? Most definitely if given they replace the bedroom mattress ...

                                                                  Thank you for your review. We certainly agree as to the importance of a good mattress. When we selected the mattress for our unit three years ago we got top quality and very firm as Penny has suffered from serious back problems for years. While it was fine for someone with spinal issues, it was too hard for many guests which is why the memory foam topper was added. Since then many previous reviewers have praised the comfort of this bed. With time and use a bed can change however and no mattress will meet everyone's personal preferences. Penny underwent spinal surgery this year so is very sensitive at the moment to her sleeping surface. When we visit this Spring, if we find this mattress or topper is now in any way lacking, we will not hesitate to replace it.

                                                                  Great Stay in Kona

                                                                  We have been to Hawai'i many times over the years just never to The Big Island, this was our first!

                                                                  So off I start my Search for a condo in Kona, that's where I was told to go by friends that have been to this Island.

                                                                  We needed to be in a location for easy access to Airport and Highways to explore the island, Poof, up came Jims Condo for rent, that was available for the time we wanted in December. This had everything we were kind of looking for.

                                                                  This location has a wonder view of the ocean with no obstructions. Where we watch whales, dolphins, surfers with our morning Coffee from the lanai, was so peaceful, as well as entertaining.

                                                                  We took a few days to get use to the sound of the ocean hitting the lava rocks when we went to bed, we did get use to it and put us to sleep. Now there is a down side, the salt pool can get noisy at times, but does get quiet after 9:30 - 10 at night. People tend to show up for sunset and clear out about 9 - 9:30 pm. Brian the Condo/Grounds Keeper installed bright lights aimed at the salt pool to deter any unwanted late parties at the salt pool. Worked like a charm while we were there, but then we didn't have any issues.

                                                                  The Condo does get very warm if you keep the windows closed, so please use the fans provided and open the windows, to let the trade winds through. (will cool fast)

                                                                  We had a great time at the Condo pool, very cool and refreshing, also a great social if you like meeting people.

                                                                  Start BBQ'ing just before sunset, you get to meet people from the complex and enjoy the sunset with ooz and awes and the so called green flash. LOL This place has fantastic views on clear nights of amazing sunsets!

                                                                  Do have some suggestions to Jim; a land line that offers free Calling to mainland & Canada would have been nice (Canadian cell use can get very expensive outside of Canada), as well as better WIFI service to face time family to show off the wonderful sights of the Condo and grounds.

                                                                  Thanks Jim & Penny for giving us the opportunity to stay at Kona Isles, had a fantastic time!

                                                                  Thanks for your feedback. It sounds like you found Kona Isle a great fit and glad you had a good time. A key reason we got a second floor unit is that all the windows and the patio door are inaccessible from the ground so can be left open. We do this for all day comfort and in winter find we can often turn off the fans at night or use a blanket on the bed. We have already acted on your suggestion and installed our own high speed WI-FI service to enhance both phone and computer connectivity. We are pleased to hear that, like other regular visitors to another island we've had this year, you've decided to make the Big Island your destination again for a future trip. We want you to know you're always welcome.

                                                                  We really enjoyed our short stay. Bed was very comfortable, sleeping to the soothing of the surf. We didn't rent a car, but soon figured out the trolley, which worked great. Our main focus here was our grandson's wedding, so we didn't have time to do much sightseeing. Next time we will stay longer. The condo provided everything we needed.

                                                                  Excellent 2nd floor end location, which is the most desirable for ocean breezes. Great pool area plus the lounge chairs underneath the palms was sooooo relaxing enjoying the spinner dolphins and cool ocean breezes. Four great grills and picnic area was first class. Inside was equally first class all the way, from the shower to the well equipped kitchen with all the bells and whistles. Since we stayed 15 days the full size washer and dryer worked out quite well. If you have Roku, bring it with you and enjoy streaming netflix, etc. Location was ideal for restaurants, shopping, etc. Would definitely come back again and again!

                                                                  We have always been partial to the second floor at Kona Isle but until we got this condo did not realize the advantage of end units. Besides a view in two directions off the front lanai, the bedroom in oceanfront buildings do not have windows opening on the rear walkway. Instead there are large floor to ceiling windows in the outer wall that (as you point out) encourage cool breezes and provide more privacy. We are happy you found many things to your liking at Kona Isle and hope to have you return often.

                                                                  Initial payment of 25% to be made along with completion of rental agreement at time of booking. At 90 days prior to arrival, 10% of base rent is retained in event of cancellation. After balance is paid (60 days or less prior to arrival) cancellation refunds are as outlined in the rental agreement. Damage deposit is included in price quoted and fully refundable within a week of departure as per terms of rental agreement. Kona Isle does not levy any additional fees. 2% cash rebate on base rent will be paid with return of damage deposit to those electing to pay by check. An additional charge of $10.00 per night ($15.00 during Iron Man week) will be added to price quoted for each adult over two staying in unit. Children (up to age 18) stay at no additional charge.
