Cute, quiet, and we'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a getaway in the mountains this little cottage is well situated to give you that escape spot. My wife and I enjoyed the fly fishing and the natural beauty of driving along miles of the rushing Nantahala River. Breakfast on the river at the NOC was perfect. I don't want to say much more or the place won't be available when we want to return!

Nice cabin, beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is nestled in a park-like setting with a little creek running through the side yard providing natural music. The drive to the cabin was stunning -- with the lower and upper Nantahala River running parallel to the road for most of the way. Very twisty road was fun to drive. Right next door is a small farm with two pretty and friendly horses. Less than 1/4 mile away is a put-in for Queens Creek lake -- very scenic and quiet mountain lake about .8 miles long. I did laps in my kayak to prep for running the Nantahala. There's another public put-in with an observation deck.

The cabin was appointed with everything you need for a rustic vacation. I appreciated the charcoal and firewood and enjoyed reading in the comfy chair in the back yard and walks with the dogs on the low-traffic roads. Bicycling Winding Staircase Road is both a treat and challenge.

Less than perfect: If you don't like microfiber sheets, you might want to bring your own. The internet is intermittent and cell phone reception (Verizon) non existent. I arrived on an over 90 degree day and the window AC could not bring the inside temp down til late at night.

All in all, a very enjoyable mini vacation.

Awesome little mountain cabin

  • 4 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Me and kids especially enjoyed Winding Stairs Rd. Momma not so much. It gave the aura of true mountain living. She made us take the paved roads going out. Enjoyed the creek side fire while grilling dinner. Kids found the perfect spot to hang their ENO hammocks. Morning coffee on the front reading a book while listening to the stream flow over the little waterfalls. Minutes from NOC and a day of adventure.

One problem encountered when we got there was the dust. The owner needs to be more mindful of dusting the windowsills and checking under the twin beds for spiders and such, especially if nobody has stayed there for a while. Also, trash bags amounted to a few plastic grocery bags. There was only a half a roll of toilet paper and paper towels. I had to reboot the wi-fi router for it to work, but provided great reception. I waited a while to do this so the kids were forced to enjoy our company for a while. Once we got settled in, it's a great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

All in all, a great experience. We will be back.

False advertising

  • 1 of 5

I didn't mind being 25 minutes away from a store, but finding out the stove or oven doesn't work at ALL was upsetting. Neither did the tv... No smoke alarm either and the carbon monoxide detector was a plug in... The internet required rebooting but then it was operational. I tried to reach the manager but she didn't return my call... Left a note behind to explain why we had to go home early... Only so many sandwiches we can eat:(

Still haven't gotten a response!

Precious!

  • 4 of 5

This is truly a hidden treasure! The charm this sweet little cabin has along with the beautiful landscaping and scenic view is simply breathtaking. Our family enjoyed the stream that ran along side the cabin and also the pond that sits on the property. Our son kept smiles on his face as he caught the fish! Karen is also gracious, friendly and always a phone call away! The quiet, cozy cabin will be one we will most definitely come back too! Thanks for the memories!
