Awesome little mountain cabin

  • 4 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Me and kids especially enjoyed Winding Stairs Rd. Momma not so much. It gave the aura of true mountain living. She made us take the paved roads going out. Enjoyed the creek side fire while grilling dinner. Kids found the perfect spot to hang their ENO hammocks. Morning coffee on the front reading a book while listening to the stream flow over the little waterfalls. Minutes from NOC and a day of adventure.

One problem encountered when we got there was the dust. The owner needs to be more mindful of dusting the windowsills and checking under the twin beds for spiders and such, especially if nobody has stayed there for a while. Also, trash bags amounted to a few plastic grocery bags. There was only a half a roll of toilet paper and paper towels. I had to reboot the wi-fi router for it to work, but provided great reception. I waited a while to do this so the kids were forced to enjoy our company for a while. Once we got settled in, it's a great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

All in all, a great experience. We will be back.

False advertising

  • 1 of 5

I didn't mind being 25 minutes away from a store, but finding out the stove or oven doesn't work at ALL was upsetting. Neither did the tv... No smoke alarm either and the carbon monoxide detector was a plug in... The internet required rebooting but then it was operational. I tried to reach the manager but she didn't return my call... Left a note behind to explain why we had to go home early... Only so many sandwiches we can eat:(

Still haven't gotten a response!

This is truly a hidden treasure! The charm this sweet little cabin has along with the beautiful landscaping and scenic view is simply breathtaking. Our family enjoyed the stream that ran along side the cabin and also the pond that sits on the property. Our son kept smiles on his face as he caught the fish! Karen is also gracious, friendly and always a phone call away! The quiet, cozy cabin will be one we will most definitely come back too! Thanks for the memories!

Great Mountain Get Away

  • 4 of 5

This cabin has lots of charm with a creek running by it, an outdoor fire pit and a nice kitchen. A short drive to lots of activities. My only suggestions would be a thorough cleaning of the front porch and maybe adding a programmable coffee pot.

Stairway cabin

  • 3 of 5

The grounds were the cabin sits are wonderful. We were able to hike and pick blackberries during our stay. The fire ring is always a hit with our family and the stream truly relaxes the spirit and mind.

The cabin's interior lacks personality and shows lack of care. The cushions on the couch were dirty and one even appeared to have blood stains. The interior of the cabin needs a serious cleaning , many cobwebs and dust bunnies were apparent throughout. The kitchen was well stocked and the fridge was immaculate. You will have a good experience despite the shortcomings the interior of the cabin displays. Should the propieter choose to enhance this property it would no doubt in my mind be a truly wonderful location to spend vacation time.
