Week at Kingfishers Roost

We had an excellent week at Kingfishers Roost. The rental was outstanding and had everything we needed. The location was the perfect balance of seclusion with a quick drive into Bryson City. The river was beautiful!

Amazing cabin!

The cabin was absolutely perfect for our family! The location was amazing, and the cabin and grounds were beautiful! May need to add some more daily essentials in the kitchen such as pans, coasters, etc. We had a great time and would definitely stay at this cabin again.

The Perfect Setting

We really hated to leave Kingfisher's Roost. The cabin with the stream running by was as perfect as you can get. Peaceful, serene but close to activities. Clean, beautiful view and decor. I loved the artwork. The deck at night with lights was magical! We can't wait to come back!!

Fantastic cabin, great location, very happy with all!

Amenities…some extra toilet paper, paper towels, and garbage bags should be increased…especially if garbage needs to be taken out.

Quiet Cabin in the Woods

The cabin was super clean & well located. The lake was beautiful. The only downside was there was no secure Wifi (only "guest") & we couldn't connect our baby monitor so didn't get to enjoy the hot tub as much as we'd have liked. Very nice stay overall, though.

Perfection!!

This cabin was absolutely perfect! I was nervous because there isn't a lot of reviews, but it is exactly as pictured! It was amazing sitting out on the porch overlooking the water every morning and evening! The hot tub was perfectly nestled in the trees, we used the fire pit to make smores, grilled dinner at night, everything was excellent! Cabin was very clean and well stocked with whatever we could think of. Beds were comfortable! Can't wait to go back!

Lovely Place

The house is very lovely and clean. The view is beautiful. Everything needed for a short stay was provided -- except firewood. No complications whatsoever. The only negative was the smell of the water that is within the house. It smells strongly of sulfur. We thought it would go away after the water has been run through the pipes. It did not.

Kingfisher Roost

Our stay was amazing. The house is the last one on a quiet gravel road so it was quiet and felt private even with the road across the lake. The view from the house never got old and we didn't want to leave. One word of warning to future renters with boats: The "boat ramp" is for kayaks only. The listing is disingenous at best when they advertise a boat ramp. We went at full pool and the bottom of the ramp is too shallow to launch a boat. I also wouldnt take anything larger than 18' because you wont be able to turn around your trailer and you dont want to have to back your rig up that narrow road. You can launch at Alarka for free but they do not have trailer parking.

Great getaway

Our stay at Kingfishers Roost was great. The residence is in great shape, lots of character, very clean. The view out over the channel that connects to the lake is very pretty. There is a fire pit, but you should bring your own wood if you'd like the use it. It's more or less a straight shot into Bryson City, although the residence is a few miles out. Alarka marina is about a half mile down the road and they rent very nice pontoon boats. Almond marina is about 20 minutes away and they'll rent you a fishing skiff for a very reasonable rate. If you're looking to do any fishing we learned the hard way that the fish aren't really biting during the late summer months, but that April through June are probably the best. In spite of no fish caught, the residence and lake are beautiful and relaxing.

Best before they drain the lake or after done draining lake (then creek adjacent)

It was a very cute house. It fit our family of three very well. It was also on a lovely plot of land with beautiful moss, stone steps, large deck and quiet. That being said.. there are some upgrades needed to the kitchen counters and appliances. They could also use an extra frying pan. The only one available is very large (not great for eggs) or if you need to cook two things at once. We did have a wonderful time and rented a boat for a few days from Almond marina and you can park the boat at the dock (which is so conveniently close to the house) IF they haven’t drained the lake which they tend to do towards the end of August early September.. that happened to us. Overall I’d say we had a wonderful time and the hot tub was clean, the house was charming and even though there is a small road across the way from you it’s a very quiet one. Made some good memories

Overall Nice Experience

We stayed from Tuesday to Saturday. We did enjoy our stay and would book again, however we would be more prepared next time. We had no problem with the directions using Apple Maps and the property directions. Again, there is no cell service but Wi-Fi was excellent when we did use it. The drive way is very steep, and you cannot see at the top. There should be a mirror of some sort to help with that. You wouldn’t know if another car is coming once you hit the peak of the driveway. The neighbor’s dog used the bathroom all in our parking pad, so that sucked. There were several people fishing and using the boat ramp during the week. No problem if it’s the community boat dock, but at least hang some type of curtains or blinds to give the privacy feeling. Getting out of the shower was a trick, because the neighbors could see us once you hit a certain spot. The feeling of privacy was not there. However communication with the property managers and checkin was super easy! The overall scene was great. We fished, not much in the lake and def. Not much was biting, used the hot tub, and enjoyed our stay other than the constant seeing people walk in front of the house.

Cabin at Larka Creek

Property need some upgrading. Near fire pit was falling in. We could not get our boat across the narrow bridge coming into the property. The owner told us it would be no problem using their ramp but not being able to get to the property with the boat did not help at all. We were from Friday night until Tuesday without internet. No fault of the owner but still in a bad place for an emergency. The house was prettty nice, clean, everything worked. Trash was a bit complicated for staying an entire week. Perhaps a bin of somesort to place trash in, of course bear proof. The owners did communicate very well with us. It was a good time with family. Thank Goodness for Matt and staff, at Larka Marina. They were very helpful to us. We were able to get our boat up to the owners dock which was very helpful on our 4 trips down to the Lake.

Wonderdul getaway!

We stayed here as we wanted a quite cabin on the water and near kake Fontana. We had two wonderful meals, great quite eveningsbsitting on the deck in the latebevening and the woods came alive with Frogs and crickets. We could hardly hear each other talk. We rented a nice pontoon boat from the Alarka Marina just an 1/8th of a mile away and crusied the lake for 8 hrs. Amazing. The staff was great. Very enjoyable!

Disappointed

House was clean, comfortable, with basic supplies, wifi/tv worked well, hot tub was clean and well maintained, House not on lake but on a creek that feeds the lake, water had been let down so basically a mud hole remained, could not use the dock sitting since on the ground, no swimming or fishing since the lake was gone well before they said it would be lowered, should have booked a house on the main body of the lake, would not recommen or return
