About this property
Old River House Rumford Point. 14 mins to Sunday River
PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING:
The 1866 River House is a historic New England farmhouse that retains many of its original features and character. This is not a newly built vacation rental or hotel-style property.
While the home is professionally cleaned before every stay, older homes naturally collect dust more quickly than modern construction, especially when windows are opened or during high pollen seasons. Guests should also expect the occasional historic-home quirk such as original doors, uneven floors, or painted-shut windows.
If you appreciate authentic charm, history, and unique properties, you'll likely love the River House. If you are seeking a brand-new luxury home with modern finishes throughout, this property may not be the best fit.
Enjoy your stay at the historic 1866 River House, a unique riverfront farmhouse filled with authentic New England character, stunning views, and modern comforts. With 5 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and room for up to 16 guests, it's the perfect gathering place for families, ski groups, and friends looking to make lasting memories.
Located near Sunday River, Mt. Abram, and Black Mountain, with direct access to the Androscoggin River, the property offers breathtaking views of the river, spectacular sunsets, and Mt. Washington in the distance. Amenities include a covered hot tub, home theater, library, game room with ping pong and over 50 board games, and a spacious, fully equipped kitchen.
The 1866 River House is perfect for:

We were staying near my mother’s hometown with extended family, and the extensive space worked great. We had a lot of fun with the game room and movie room, and the grill got a lot of use for family meals.
House is very spacious and enough room for everyone to spread out. Kids enjoyed the game room and theater room the most. Located in good and quiet neighborhood. Over all had a great time.
Old farmhouse, so if ladybugs aren’t your thing and you expect a modern interior- skip it. But if you know Rumford, love history and look for the cute quirks in a house- this is your place. It has so much character and the most spacious place I’ve ever stayed.
We liked the house overall. Great location very quiet neighborhood. Game room was nice ping pong table got alot of use. It was cool having the theater room. Plenty of room for 6 adults to spread out. Beds were very comfortable. Liked having the master room on the 1st floor. However as for the cleanliness was definitely not up to par. (Surfaces had a layer of dust, dead bugs in game room and on kitchen counters dust bunnies under bed ) The minor isses did not take away from our stay. we still had a nice time here.
