Built by respected log home builder - Larry Barnes - this wonderful Colorado custom log home enjoys peace and tranquility with majestic La Plata Mountain Views. Driving up to the house with its Silverton Eureka Rock driveway easily accommodates multiple cars and convenient in-and-out access. This great Colorado log home is located minutes to shopping/restaurants in Historic Downtown Durango as well as 3 major ski areas. Walk up the slate-tiled steps to the covered porch and enter this lovely home through the double glass doors. The home immediately opens to a huge western facing bay of windows in the living/dining room perfectly positioned to take in the grand mountain views. Located to the left of the entryway is the kitchen equipped with granite tile countertops, slate tile floors and stainless steel appliances. Birch cabinets and drawers filled with everything you will need to make your vacation feel like home. A breakfast bar for 3-4 people is made from a large piece of dimension lumber which further enriches the log home feel. A spiral staircase leads up to the loft area which looks out over the living/dining area and enjoys the same massive bay windows as the living room. This room has a queen futon. The living/dining room's high vaulted ceiling is complimented by solid log cross beams. A two-sided wood burning fireplace with river rock surround offers the romantic ambiance of an evening fire to both the living room and the master suite. An elk antler chandelier overhanging the dining area adds a touch of Colorado flair. The master suite has its own patio access and a master bathroom that will surely satisfy. An oversized Jacuzzi tub sits in the corner of the room supported by a travertine surround. Relax in a warm jet bath and enjoy the mount views through the window next to the tub! The bathroom also has a walk-in shower with travertine tile and dual sinks with stylish oval vanity mirrors. Don't forget about the dual-sided fireplace to keep you warm on those colder evenings!

For convenience, a laundry room with washer & dryer is suitably located adjacent to the master suite and the living room. Extreme La Plata Mountain views will be enjoyed from this spacious concrete patio spanning the width of the home. This area will produce many memorable barbeques with friends and family. Canned overhead lighting is fixed into the exterior eaves and provides a nice lighting element for the evening time. Privately located on the other side of the home, the 2nd master suite with a full walk-thru bathroom and individual access to the patio. This 2nd suite offers a full bathtub and shower complimented by a glass block wall at the far end of the tub. This home comfortably sleeps 6. There is a 1-car garage at the top of the driveway to park a small vehicle, ATV or any other entertainment equipment. Great Base Camp

My wife and I stayed in this beautiful home for 2 weeks in Aug 2016. We had a different couple of friends stay with us on separate weeks. All of us loved the home. We used it as our base camp to see the sights of southwestern Colorado - Chimney Rock, Mesa Verde, Durango/Silverton RR, Vallecito and Haviland Lakes, Historic Downtown Durango, the Animas River and more. The home had everything we needed. Kitchen was fully operational, not just a few pots and pans. Great BBQ pit and beds were comfortable. Each couple had their own private suite. Loved both porches. Saw deer. rabbits, scrub jays, doves, woodpeckers and black chinned and broad tailed hummers. Renee provided feeders for the hummers and the other birds. The owners manual was very complete so we never had problems figuring out how things like dishwasher, disposal, fans, washing machine, etc worked. Best of all Renee was very responsive and gave us great recommendations on what to see, where to eat, etc. When she learned it was my wife's birthday, she even arranged to have fresh flowers there to greet us.

Great Stay....Again

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd stay at Orion's View. The home is very well kept and fully loaded with everything you will need for a perfect stay. We brought our motorcycles up for the week and Renee made sure we had the entire garage to securely store our bikes when we were not riding them all over beautiful Colorado. There were a lot of deer outside the home daily as we sat and watched from the two great patios. We will certainly stay again.

Paradise all seasons!

My husband and I and our Golden Retriever have stayed at Orion’s View 4 times over the last year and a half (two winter visits, one spring, and one long summer). We have also had numerous guests stay with us at various times. All of our stays have been amazing, delightful experiences and from the first time we ever went, we always felt right at home. The cabin itself is spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. There was ample room for guests (with their own large bathroom) and plenty of storage space, a large nicely laid out and well equipped kitchen, a spacious western facing deck perfect for cocktail sunset viewing or star gazing, and nice large jacuzzi/soaking tub in the master suite to melt away achy, tired muscles post hiking or apres ski. There is also an abundance of wildlife around the house to photograph or just sit and quietly enjoy. My husband and I like to visit the local farmer’s market and cook together. So, the kitchen and the availability of kitchen pots/pans, cookware, preparation gadgets and dishes was especially important to us and we were able to prepare and enjoy numerous home cooked meals featuring local ingredients. Orion’s View is conveniently located only 15 minutes into Durango, and also has quick, easy access to Bayfield, the airport and Ignacio Casino, Vallecito Lake, Pagosa Springs, and Mesa Verde. Getting to the ski resorts is an easy day trip. The owner and the house caretakers could not have been more professional and responsive. We never had to worry about anything and each time we arrived, there was always a hand-written note with some yummy home baked item or fresh flowers to welcome us. After each visit we returned home relaxed, reenergized and calm and eagerly counting the days until we could return! It is paradise.

What a beautiful and family-friendly home!

We absolutely loved our week at Orion's View. This is the 1st VRBO home we've rented where the house is even better than the pictures! The house is very stocked (kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, etc.) and not a thing was overlooked. The view was amazing, and the deer were right outside our windows at night. We are looking forward to staying here again the next time we are in Durango!
