Access to National Park was excellent. Home even more beautiful than pictured with wrap-around deck and lots of lovely art. Even the dishes were beautiful. Very private and quiet. Loved every single thing about it.
This is a unique and beautiful property. It is a perfect base for exploring Volcanoes National Park and this side of the island. Chilly at night – bring a sweater!
Clean. Beautiful wood furnishings, stone fireplace and rainforest environs. But know that the rainforest is very humid and chilly. The house only has portable room heaters, so it may not be for everyone.
Host was great. Property was one of the most beautiful we ever stayed at. Very comfortable home. If we can say a minor improvement would be to add a few more kitchen culenary utensils and cups / plates for a home of this size. Decorations and furnishings were incredible. All in all in all lovely home that we'd like to return to.
Amazing stay and the one we'll remember most forever. There's nothing like spending time in the hot tub and watching the stars above with super close access to Volcanoes National Park, we'd do it again in a heartbeat!

This was the nicest short term rental we have stayed at in the Volcano area. I think it was our 7th house. I am looking forward to going back in 2026. It was a fun weekend away from Oahu !

All the aloha vibes! A beautiful and comfortable home with kind hosts that left fresh flowers in every room and Kona coffee for us. We felt so lucky to stay in such an amazing home.
What a beautiful estate situated in the lush Hawaiian Islands The house is constructed with outstanding attention to architectural detail and the interior was just as beautiful—clean, and thoughtfully designed to complement the natural beauty outside. Waking up to such breathtaking views each morning was amazing!Everything about our stay was peaceful and restorative. The house was well-equipped, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the location offered the perfect mix of seclusion and accessibility. Thank you to Jennifer and Rob, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The Volcano Rainforest Estate & Lodge was perfect for our Volcano getaway. It’s a beautiful, well built home on a gorgeous property. The kitchen had everything we needed and the dining room is stunning. Beds are very comfortable. The property management team was responsive and helpful. I highly recommend this property. We can’t wait to return!
We have a wonderful experience in the most beautiful home on the Big Island of Hawaii. It was comfortable and relaxing. Thank you for sharing your lovely cabin with whomever would like to experience the beautiful rain forest of Hawaii.
The house was awesome and perfect for our needs. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time and didn’t want to leave. The hosts were awesome and even reached out to advise us to visit the park when the Volcano erupted (luckily we had just entered the park already when it started). It was an amazing experience and we’d definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Our family recently enjoyed another fantastic stay at the Volcano Rainforst Lodge. As repeat guests, having stayed at this beautiful home multiple times in the past, we continue to be impressed with its excellent condition and unique charm. The home truly is a one-of-a-kind home, and its proximity to Volcano while seculsion and privacy makes it an ideal choice. Our family of six had an excellent time, and we look forward to returning again in the future.
Easy check-in, good directions and beautifully clean. Easily most beautiful home and setting of any place we stayed. Great communication from the beginning includkng when we needed to move our stay a day later. Helpful guide book, games for kids and beautiful outdoor setting. Unfortunately didn't get to the hot tub as rainy in evenings, but sti enjoyed the outdoor space. Excellent experience.
We loved how close this home is to the National Park! The house is incredible and beautifully built. Would definitely recommend this home if you’re wanting to stay close to the park!
It is a beautiful home and location. We couldn’t be happier with anything associated with the property. If I could build my dream home in Volcano this would be it.

About the host
Hosted by Rob and Jennifer Owens
features from every room and private lanais. We built this home to last for generations, with only high quality construction materials being used. The Volcano Rainforest Lodge took years to complete because great efforts were made to spare the forest and lava features. No bulldozer ever touched the lot with the utmost effort being made to protect the many endangered trees and plants on the grounds. The utilities were placed underground to maximize the views from The Lodge.
Why they chose this property
The property was chosen because of its location. While only minutes away from the national park, Volcano Village, and the golf course, the home site has a remote, rural feeling for those who desire privacy and quiet. The elevation of the lodge is about 3,025' and the daytime high temperature is rarely over 78 degrees. The property is within Hawaiian Orchid Island Estates. The nine acre estate allows for an extensive hiking trail network exclusive to our guests. The property has numerous lava outcroppings to explore as well as 200-year-old Ohia trees, rare native plants, and 20' Hawaiian Hapu'u tree ferns. Construction of the Volcano Rainforest Estate was completed in December 2012.
What makes this property unique
The Lodge has over 1,400 square feet of covered, outside living area. Comfortable patio furniture surrounds the house for guests to enjoy the forest in every direction. After a day in the park guests may enjoy a relaxing rest in the hot tub while viewing the beautiful fern forest and stunning night skies. All of the lava excavated during construction was used in the foundation of the home, fireplace, and retaining walls. Exotic woods add to the beauty and elegance of The Volcano Rainforest Lodge. A giant Mango tree which was blown down in a storm and blocked the highway is now our floor and trim. Come and enjoy this beautiful Hawaiian Craftsman home.
