About Dara Liberatore

I has always had a love of the water and boating. Although I did not grow up on the water, and did not come from a family of boaters, I have been drawn to water sports - swimming, scuba diving, boating - both sailing and motor. Prior to having my own yacht, I did a lot of chartering, and often found the charter experiences to be disappointing - usually because the boat was not in great condition. After spending over a year in Charleston working with a client, the idea of having a yacht and having it in Charleston, as well as filling a need in the market for high end yacht charters all came together. So, I started Atlanta Yacht Charters in December 2012, with my first yacht - La Nina. I recently renamed AYC to Low Country Yacht Charters, to better convey the focus and value proposition that this business offers, especially as I start looking to expand. Outside of boating, my core professional focus is strategy and operations management consulting. After graduating from Georgetown University, I spent several years on Active Duty with the Army, both in the Middle East and Germany. After coming back from Germany, I started my consulting career, taking a two year pause to get my MBA from Duke and then going to work with Accenture. I currently work with Alvarez and Marsal, helping companies improve their performance, across multiple industries and functional areas, with a focus on strategy, supply chain, manufacturing, profitability improvement and M&A.I welcome you aboard my yacht - La Nina - and hope you have a wonderful experience!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I am writing this note to say how much we enjoyed our cruise on La Nina. She is a beautiful boat, and perfect for what we had in mind for a break during our two-day company meeting in Charleston. Our manager gave us a choice for a "team building" activity, and one of them was an afternoon trip on your boat. Our decision was almost unanimous, and what a great choice it was. It was sunny and slightly chilly, so we bundled up a little and spent most of the time on the flybridge enjoying the amazing views of Charleston Harbor and downtown, with our wine and h'ordeuvres. Our thoughtful captain had the heat on in the cabin for whenever anyone wanted to go below and warm up. I must say, I have been to Charleston many times, but have never seen the city from the water on "my own yacht". I hope you don't mind the reference, but that's what it felt like! Thank you for our wonderful time. We will certainly be back.

Great stay onboard

  • 5 of 5

Organized, clean, tidy, easy to find. Easy to figure out boat stuff, even for someone totally new to boat stuff. Would love to stay again if we are in the area.

Sublime time in Charleston

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had never been to Charleston and it was on our "dream list" of things to do. Our dream is also to live on boat for a few years when we retire, so we accomplished two dream goals visiting Charleston. Staying on LaNina is wonderful. It was spotlessly clean and felt brand new new. Although the galley was small, it had all the bells and whistles. The wifi was an added perk and it worked very well. The owner is warm, personable, hospitable, and full of information about the area. She is always available by phone or text if you have any questions or concerns. We absolutely loved the location. It is minutes from downtown Charleston and the marina offers a free shuttle service into town. We also loved meeting all the different people that we met at the marina. We had the opportunity many times over to pick their brains about living on a boat. Great time! And we only have wonderful things to say about our awesome hostess. Would do it again!

Owner's Response: Thank you, Geri & Wayne! The flowers are beautiful...I'm still enjoying them. Thank you for leaving them! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in CHS. ...and that you were able to stay with us while in town. Staying on boats is a hidden gem. You will love your retirement on a boat, and the fun part is finding the right boat for you! I have a great boat broker if you need one. We look forward to seeing you again soon; hopefully, aboard LaNina. But perhaps along the ICW... BIG HUGS!!!

Loved the boat atmosphere

  • 5 of 5

Overall property kept up nicely. Few issues with the A.C. in the sleeping area but stayed comfortable since it wasn't very hot. Husband could not stand in most areas of the boat because he is 6'8" but I'm 5'8" and was fine. Sitting on the upper deck in the mornings and evenings was the best, so serene. Would definitely do it again.

Owner's Response: Hey Julia, So glad you had a great time in CHS. Hope you got to use your SUP board around the marina... Thank you for your stay aboard, as well as accommodating our maintenance crews. The AC was fully repaired and back in fighting shape! Luckily in time for the humidity as it returned;) You truly had the best week here! Sorry about your husbands "ducking" issues. That was a first for us, but something I guess guest should think about... I am going to measure this week!

Excellent stay!

  • 5 of 5

Staying on the La Nina was a real treat for my husband and I. The boat is spotless and has everything you need to be comfortable. We were lucky with perfect weather for sitting up top and watching the sky change into night time, morning sunning on the front and very comfortable sleeping cabins. The Marina restaurant was perfect for a casual but delicious breakfast. Parking was easy and the check-in and out was very convenient. We will definitely return to this property when we visit our daughter in the future!
