Classic Hamptons compound, minutes to beaches, in sought after Sagaponack, NY
This "south of the highway" estate is located in Village of Sagaponack, the jewel in the crown of the Hamptons. Open farm fields, beautiful estates and the best of the Atlantic Ocean beaches. We were fully rented during the premium summer months again for the 9th year consecutive year. In this compound, the architect designed central house is modeled after the 18th century houses along Sagg Main Street. The main houses combined have 8 ensuite bedrooms including 3 master suites with large marble baths and wood burning fire places. Separate studio/pool house with wet bar, fireplace, bath, bed and living rooms. The main houses contain a large Chef's kitchen with mahogany and marble counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Other public rooms include formal dinning room, living room, grand stair hall, library, two large family rooms (one with regulation pool table), family breakfast room, mezzanine card room with private deck overlooking the grounds, butler's pantry with wet bar, exercise room and large wine cellar/tasting room. Also, laundry and mechanical areas/rooms. All building are are centrally air-conditioned and heated and equipped with large flat screen TVs, wireless internet and Sonos sound system. The floors are wide-plank quarter-sawn white oak or marble.
The cathedral ceiling pool house/studio has living room with fire place, bedroom, wet bar, marble bath and large mahogany deck and outdoor shower. Blue stone patio and deck surrounds a 20' x 50' heated gunite pool with flowering plants and majestic row of crepe myrtles. The original house has a classic columned rear porch with mahogany floors, wicker furniture and a swing. Cook on an outdoor grill on the blue stone patio off the living room, dining room and kitchen equipped with tables and chairs. Enjoy an abundance of flowers in bloom in ever direction from a house and pool house with dozens of large windows and French doors.
The property is a series of inerlocking gardens (including a vegetable garden), an orchard and rolling lawns hidden behind dense 20 foot tall hedges (the real defining element of the Hamptons). Only minutes down a beautiful farm field road are the wonderful beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. There are no guest houses, hotels or "share" houses in the Village of Sagaponack (and very few in the entire area) so the beaches are left to those owning or renting private single family homes here. At the compound, there is over an acre under fence (and a special toddler pool fence if you need it) so pets are welcome within reason.
The compound is fully equipped with everything you and your family will need for the perfect Hamptons vacation. Hotel quality professionally finished linens and towels are by Matouk and Frette. Quality cook wear, cutlery, china and glass ware fill the kitchen and butler's pantry. The house is our real home with art, antiques, rugs and furniture collected over a life time of travel and living in New York City, Washington, Atlanta and the Hamptons.
We have rented the house during the Hamptons season - Memorial Day to Labor Day - since the central house was completed in 2008, primarily to families with children. Often there will be three generations ranging from grandparents to babes in arms. The towns and hamlets of the Hamptons, including the Village of Sagaponack, do not allow short term rentals or to rentals to groups of not related to each other or so called “shares." We are allowed to have two, two-week rentals within the season and the remainder must be 30 day rentals. You will find this property as warm and comfortable and welcoming as any fine 5 star hotel anywhere in the world. The 2018 season open. But. only 2 weeks remain available in 2017 - September 5th through the 20th.
Grounds keepers, maid service and chefs are available on request. And, you couldn't be more centrally located in the world famous "South of the Highway" Hamptons.

About Jame M. Brasher III
I am a retired executive who has traveled through out the world (107 counties) and worked with some of the most influential and interesting people on earth in the fields of health, development, human rights and politics. This house is among 32 that I have owned, built and/or restored. It reflects some of the best features of the many places that I have owned or visited. It is our second home in the Hamptons and many say it epitomizes this singular haven for quite enjoyment of the sea and nature. Designed by my Architect spouse, the house is private, warm, comfortable, charming and quietly elegant. We love people and the house is often filled with interesting friends who love it as dearly as we do. I have been lucky to have been a guest in many different beautiful (and sometimes historic) private residences around the world in my life of travel; I have made note of what makes the best of these home really work. We have tried to incorporate those features in this house. I am a lover of homes, art, people and the things that make life worth living. Some of the most discriminating vacationers have chosen our house for stays of over 3 months through the years. We know that they could have had any home they wanted and are so happy that they chose our property for precious time with their families and friends.

Why Jame M. Brasher III chose Sagaponack
It is a real Hamptons estate compound with connected houses, lush gardens, beautiful pool and separate pool house/studio. It is hidden from view by 20' hedges all the way around. It takes us just 12 minutes to be on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Some of the wealthiest and most famous people from the arts, business and government make Sagaponack their county home. There are wonderful public and private gardens to visit, markets located on the land where the vegetables are raised along the the streets, vineyards, seafood shops that stock the local catch, food stores - all within 5 minutes or less from of your front door.
What makes this House unique
Coming to the Hamptons and spending a month or more in one of the private estate properties here has been a tradition for many prominent New Yorkers for decades. More and more we are having families from other US Cities or from abroad joining us here as well. You will feel like you belong to the so called "summer colony" when you rent our home in this magical place.

Beautiful Home, Perfect Stay
We loved our stay! The house and gardens are lovely, great space for entertaining family and friends. The kitchen, vegetable/herb garden and apple trees are perfect for those of us who love to cook and bake. The bedrooms are luxurious and we love the pool house, very charming.
Location is perfect, morning stroll to the beach is our daily ritual and botanical gardens and wineries are close by for a day out.
The owners are personable and attentive. We look forward to coming back again.
Thank you for your thoughtful review. We are looking forward to your next visit. We hope you had a great trip to the carriban last week. Thanks, Jim
Stunning Hamptons Retreat
Waking up to the sounds of songbirds, picking vegetables from the garden, swimming in a gorgeous pool, swinging on the backporch in an afternoon daydream, relaxing by the fireplace in the evenings...those were days of pure relaxation and beauty in all surrounds.
The home offers so many unique experiences: from poolside lounging to apple picking in the orchard to movie watching in the den. With so many choices it felt like we had everything that we could possibly desire at our fingertips. This variety kept us completely satisfied and also offered ways to enjoy private moments or get many friends together for that perfect celebration or event.
The gardens are particularly lovely with vegetables and herbs in one spot, numerous fruit bearing apple trees in another and ornamentals at the front and back. Amongst those we found a variety of lettuces, asparagus and rhubarb from which to conjure the perfect meal in the amazing chef's kitchen. The pool offered respite from the heat of sunny days and warm evening swims after dinner.
This was a truly luxurious experience that left everyone feeling refreshed and invigorated. The owners were attentive and responsive throughout our visit ensuring the estate was ready for our visit, met our expectations, and that the entire experience was truly best-in-class.
Thank you Janice and Leonard,
This means a lot to us knowing that you both are leading architects who travel all over the world and stay in great hotels and private homes. To have you back three weeks ago between your trips to Thailand and Belize was great. Thanks for this nice review. Janice, it was so nice to have your help in planting the vegie garden for our spring and summer guest. The apple and pear trees are in full bloom this week and the grounds and gardens never looked better. We are doing some painting, replacing some carpets and dramatically increasing the the wireless internet speed. We look forward to having you back again in September. We know you have a lot of choices so we are glad you keep choosing our home over and over again.
A private estate in Sagaponack. Make it yours!
I had a wonderful time renting this very beautiful garden property surrounded by tall hedges --- complete privacy, it was like heaven. There is an ample vegetable garden to make your own farm to table dreams come true in a chef's kitchen and dining either relaxed in a breakfast room or a large formal dining room. The entire property is breathtakingly beautiful and perfectly maintained. From fresh cut flowers to Frette sheets and linen pressed for dinner.
The pool house is it's own oasis I would sneak off from a house full of guests (did I mention 8 lovely bedrooms?) for a morning cup of coffee and a catch up with the Times and both afternoons and evenings are perfectly framed by a dramatically lit pool.
If you are bored (who can be bored with tranquility away from the City?), it's a short 15 minute morning walk to the ocean.
The owner's are delightful and extremely accommodating, although in our case there was very little to want for! I cannot recommend them enough!!
Thank you for this wonderful review. We knew you enjoyed your stay and look forward to having you with us again soon. And, it was good to see you again last week after your trip to Poland and 2 trips to Paris. We are so excited about your new business venture with the fences that disappear into the ground made in Poland but distributed by you East of the Mississippi in the US. That will add greatly to your noted architical firm doing so much work our here in the Hamptons, in New York City and your work across the country. We seem to collect architects as our tenants and feel honored that they enjoy what we have created here in this beautiful farm land by the sea in Sagaponack. We hope you will visit more since your new home in East Hampton is still under construction. It is going to be spectacular.
Thanks for helping us install the new high speed router for the wireless internet on Saturday.
We loved renting this sagaponack home!
We loved our summer renting this sagaponack home. The outdoor spaces are fantastic. The pool and pool house were so much fun for our family and guests. We loved the vegetable garden as did our children! The home is beautiful and the location is perfect. Anyone would be lucky to stay in this hamptons oasis!!
Thank you for your thoughtful review. We loved having you and your family with us for two plus months last summer. I was so happy that your parents were able to join you and enjoy the compound with their 4 grandchildren. You were perfect guest. We always like it when our guest utilize the house and gardens to their fullest extent. Good luck completing your new vacation home in PA but sorry you aren't going to be in the Hamptons this summer.
Great House Great Location!
Great House -very well equipped with kitchen supplies,- (dishes and equipment) which makes it perfect for someone who likes to cook and entertain. Plenty of sheets and towels for house and pool. Nice extra touches like bathrobes to use in every bathroom. You feel like you're in a hotel! Beautiful gardens both flowering and vegetable. Owners are super nice and accommodating. We loved the house so much we rented for 2 summers!
Thanks for this thoughtful review. We loved having you with us both summers (for a total of 6 months!) We were thrilled that you were able to find a beautiful home less than a mile away to purchase a few months ago. We know that you loved our home by the wonderful way you took care of the whole compound and of all of our furnishings and accessories. Our best to your entire family and we are thrilled to have you as our friends and neighbors. I know that you loved the orchard and vegetable garden and happy that you are adding apple trees to your new compound.
The Hamptons is one of the most famous but exclusive vacation areas in the world. Established in the 1640s, it is the oldest English settlement in New York State. For two hundred years writers, artists, movie and broadway stars, business leaders and the wealthy have built their summer "cottages" here. There are very few hotels and guest houses on the South Fork and "share" houses are not allowed. There are a limited number of rentals woven into the various towns, villages and hamlets along the wonderful Atlantic beaches of Long Island's South Fork. The most desirable rentals are located "south of the Highway" among the beautiful farm fields and in waking distance of the ocean. On your walk to the beach from our house you will pass the riding academy where so many great horse women and men have learned to ride and where the famous Hamptons Classic Horse Show was founded. I am assuming that you know the Hamptons if you are looking for a summer rental here. It is a one of a kind place on earth. There are hundreds of articles on the Hamptons. We have been here 19 years (this is the second house we have designed and built here) and we love every minute of this glorious place. It is the opposite of any beach area you have every visited.
