Late Summer Rate Reduction - Don't Miss This One

Located on Kennebunkport's historic Cape Arundel, this house embodies the style and grace of that time. Built in 1885, this home is one of the original summer "cottages" that dotted Maine's southern coastline. Named Sweetbrier by the original owner, this shingle style Victorian is situated to take advantage of the prevailing ocean breezes and sunsets. Many of the original architectural features have been maintained with an eye towards careful restoration. Exposed beams, hardwood floors throughout, grand staircase with turret and back staircase highlight the unique design of this vacation home. Dining room, 24' x 24' great room and wrap around porch provide plenty of space to spread out and relax. With 4 second floor bedrooms including 2 twin beds, 1 full bed, and 1 queen bed, comfort is only a few steps away. The 3 bathrooms are equipped with showers for convenience. Enjoy the amenities like a washing machine, heating, and WiFi during your stay. Newly remodeled sunroom adjacent to kitchen is perfect for entertaining or just enjoying time with family and friends. Ample parking and a large backyard add to the property's appeal. We hope you enjoy what our place and Kennebunkport has to offer.

The house has been beautifully restored and offered many amenities in the renovated kitchen. I would highly recommend this wonderful historic house to any family who loves walking to the ocean and St. Anne’s Church both in close proximity.

Historic house in a great location

Seven of us, including young children, enjoyed the quiet residential setting of this historic house. It is within a short walk to a nearby beach, the harbor, and eateries and a short drive to other lovely beaches. The house is well-furnished with many antiques, a well-supplied gourmet kitchen, spacious rooms and a wrap-around porch with chairs and a gas grill. The owner provided us with helpful information about the house and its history and sight-seeing in the area. There are some quirks, such as the en suite bathroom lacked a bath or shower.

My family has been in Kennebunkport since the mid 1960's, primarily at Goose Rocks Beach. Everyone had summer jobs and I worked at Mabels Restaurant just down the street. (and yes, Mabel was my boss). We spent countless hours on the Kennebunk River and Arundel Beach. Growing up at GRB and Kennebunkport was truly unforgettable. I still have many friends in the area from the old days and we get together as much as possible. When I was looking for my own house I discovered "Sweetbrier" and decided this was the place. I currently reside in MA but spend time in Maine when my schedule allows me to escape.
I truly enjoy sharing this property with others, whether they know the area or are first time visitors. So much history and special memories are created here every season, and for me that makes it special.

This location is perfect for a getaway, quiet and off the beaten path, yet so close to everything. Explore the coastline along Parsons Way that runs next to Ocean Avenue all the way to the Bush compound. Arundel Beach and several restaurants and shops are a 5-minute walk from the house. Dock Square and all it has to offer is an easy 15 minute walk. Take in the sights along Ocean Ave including, Booth Tarkington's (Pulitzer Prize winning author) summer retreat named the "Floats", Chick's Marina along the Kennebunk River and beautiful summer properties along the way.

Cosa rende unica questa struttura

I've always enjoyed older houses with their history and unique characteristics. Sweetbrier was one of the original houses built on Cape Arundel and showcases the architecture of the time. Shingle style Victorian with intersecting gables, asymmetry. Overall, a very special house. Location provides the best of everything, quiet and peaceful, yet a few minutes' walk to the best Kennebunkport has to offer.
