Our Montana vacation was BEYOND our expectations with the perfect setting at Scott and Chris’ beautiful cabin. There are not enough words or room to describe how beautiful the location and view is (Montana sunsets are divine!), how perfectly warm and cozy (yet still very high end) the cabin is, or the kind spirit of the lovely property caretaker Dean. My family of 5 visited for 11 days in October over my oldest daughter’s fall break. We are from Phoenix and we were looking to expose our kids to a new experience. We delivered. To illustrate the level of hospitality we received from Dean, I’d like to mention that the first night we were supposed to arrive at 2:25pm, and due to the craziness of the airlines, we arrived at 12:30am. He met us off of the main road and led us to the property, he showed us around and tried to put us at ease-he is such a wonderful gentlemen. We are lucky to have met him.
During our stay we were blessed to have snow-so much that we were effectively snowed in! It was awesome. Scott and Chris had snow discs and weather appropriate items for our use and we spent the days playing outside, playing board games, cooking and drinking hot cocoa. When the snow slowed down a bit, Dean came and plowed us out. He checked on us often and stayed in contact. He answered my questions about wildlife in the area because we sure saw a lot haha! We had a moose cow and her calf visit a few times and that was so surreal! The drive from the cabin to the main road was like being inside a wildlife sanctuary: antelope, moose, white-tail deer, horses, cattle, sheep etc. My kids were in heaven. We ventured to Yellowstone for a day and it was amazing-take the time to do it if you can.
We loved visiting Deemo’s meats for Montana beef and we grilled some serious tomahawks on the Arnold’s grill: 10/10 recommend. We ate at Gravel Bar more than once (the burgers are amazing) and Yesterday’s for breakfast. Downtown Ennis is so cute and charming. The Ennis Mercantile was great for local art and jewelry, and Willie’s Distillery is a must visit. Their bourbon and vodka is top notch.
For travelers with families, we felt very comfortable and safe at the Arnold’s property. They had a high chair, toys for the children, games, and the bedroom arrangements were great for keeping kids together. We feel so blessed we were able to have this experience and meet these kind people. We hope to return one day and are so thankful for the memories we made.
