RECENT REVIEW:

"Jerry is a Super guy. I worked under him when he was a National Director for NCA out of Dallas, TX. I was one of his staff of 13, that traveled the USA teaching his public relations curriculum at high school and colleges.

He is a national champion, and worked with the NBA, and AAA International League Baseball. Now, he's brought that class to his home in Savannah...and has opened his home to friends from all over the USA.

The house is eclectic, fun and clean. Great for families.

We loved our stay at Jerry's...and we will definitely be back."

About Jerry

I am from SC. All American Drum Major in HS. John Phillips Sousa Award for excellence in music and leadership. Trained the University of South Carolina Drum Major's and the Drum Major for the 1996 Olympic Band in ATL.

Received a concurrent resolution from the SC House of Representatives as 'Goodwill Ambassador for the State of South Carolina' while in college in 1987.

Worked at USC in Public Relations--traveled with all the USC teams, Asst. Director of Fellowship of Christian Athletes at USC. Started my own company while in college (Kabuki: The Art of Mascot)--made and redesigned college and professional mascots (i.e USC's First National Champion 'COCKY'; SC State's 'Bully'; SMU's 'Seymore'; JSU's 'Gamecock'; Kelly Tire Company's 'Star'; Charlotte Knights International League Baseball's 'Homer the Dragon', etc.)

Worked as an ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter in the SC School System, and as an Asst. Band Director at Spring Valley HS. Worked in professional athletics (NBA Charlotte Hornets/Charlotte Knights International League Baseball) in Public Relations for several years.

Became a national director for a company (National Spirit Group/National Cheerleading Association) in Dallas, TX. Developed a curriculum, published a handbook and had a staff of 13 traveling the nation teaching Public Relations. Taught classes at the National Cheerleading Coach's Conference for several years on 'University and College Imaging Enhancement'. Founder of the National Mascot School.

I've met 2 1/2 Presidents, movie stars, and Pope John Paul ll. Still friends with many guys in professional sports, as well as several Grammy winning (Christian) music groups.

Started a turn-key Cabinet/design business (Quality Kitchens).

Fell in love with Savannah, and bought a house here. One step closer to my goal of retiring in Savannah.

Jerry purchased this house in 2008

Why Jerry chose Savannah

This house caught our attention because of its quirky eclectic look and feel. The house is interesting, and has a very relaxing 'homey' atmosphere. Visit online at comevisitusinsavannah.

What makes this house unique

We didn't see anymore houses in Savannah with an atrium from the first floor to the second, a built-in water fall in the wall, and a wall-to-wall chalk board in the kid's room. something for everyone!

The Studio Suite was an added bonus offering a private, intimate place for Two--rented separately. Great for an individual (parents or grandparents) or couples who want a romantic 'getaway' just for Two.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time, thanks for everything Jerry!!!

It was nice to have take-out menus at our fingertips … we ordered from Smokey Bones Cantina just down the street last night because of the big thunderstorm, and it was awesome!

Loved everything about our trip, hope to stay there again down the road!

Comfortable, Cozy. Home-like Experience

  • 5 of 5

Upon looking for a place to stay for a wedding myself and 9 of my sorority sisters had a really hard time looking for a place to accommodate all of us. When we found this property everything from booking the reservation to check out was SEAMLESS and EFFORTLESS! Jerry was a great host whom was easily accessible via text for any questions/ concerns. My favorite part of the house was the master bedroom/bathroom and balcony in the master bedroom. Everyone in my party felt comfortable and felt like everything was clean and organized. upon arriving we had changed the thermostat and was able to keep a comfortable temperature throughout the whole weekend. the house was properly stocked and we didn't need to get anything while we were there ( we did not cook as we had specific wedding events) The area was a quiet residential neighborhood. we found a great outdoor seating restaurant/bar ( with $5 dollar margaritas) within walking distance. we also found a VERY popular breakfast spot ( line out the door) within walking distance. the convenience store next to the house was nice to have for snacking purposes ! Overall I recommend this house for any large groups as it is cozy but still has enough space for everyone ! If ever there is a reason for us to come back to Savannah I will definitely be staying here again.

It was alright

  • 3 of 5

Landlord was watching us like a hawk. The house was well kept, clean and got the job done. However we were not loud we parked where instructed in his welcome emails. But he showed up unannounced to see what we were doing. I didn't appreciate that at all, if we aren't breaking any rules I don't see the issue but the house was well kept

Owner's Response: As a VRBO/HA homeowner...this was the potential "Frat Party" that you hear about, but never want to encounter! This guest called the week of his arrival, asking about parking. I told him that information was on the listing, but I would also be sending a Welcome Letter with more information. He said he would have two cars. (On the phone, and in the welcome letters...we specifically ask that guests Not park in front of our neighbor's house--who gets Meals-On-Wheels.) The first night of his arrival we noticed a large number of people, and a large number of cars (6+), two of those were parked in front of that particular neighbor's house. After midnight, we called VRBO to make sure they knew that there might be a conflict, as the party escalated. The young men had left the side door open and the party flowed to the outside porch. (A porch shared by the studio apartment where we were staying.) While walking my dogs before bedtime, one of them ran inside. The drunken guests were yelling at me to 'get that dog out', until they realized that I was the owner. Seeing the number of people, I asked how many people they had in the house...and no one would respond. I asked for Joseph, who made the reservation, and they said he left in an Uber. (Just prior, we had seen a car leave with about 5 guys.) Between the listing, the Guest Agreement, the welcome letter, conversations on the phone and the welcome book in the foyer...information is clearly stated about parking, number of guests, on-site owner and having parties. The bad news is: this was very disrespectful, could have gotten out-of-hand, and it took two texts and almost two days to get the cars moved so that my neighbor could get her meals delivered. The good news is: they were responsible enough to take an Uber and they did not destroy our home.

Perfect for the Occasion

  • 5 of 5

This house was just perfect for our weekend visit to Savannah. We had three families with their own needs and the home allowed for us to all have our private space. The spacious living room adjacent to the kitchen offered us the place for late night conversations and those who turned in early were not bothered. The location for us was perfect as well. We were able to travel to downtown to the river area and out to Tybee Island for some beach time with ease. Jerry the owner was onsite while we were there which turned out to be a huge blessing. We had a brief loss of AC on Friday that was resolved with his quick response to our text message. The house had everything we needed to cook. I only wish my own kitchen at home was as well equipped. The cable TV and wireless network were flawless for those who needed access. I would highly recommend this home for your next visit to Savannah.

Clean and nice

  • 4 of 5

This property was a very nice place. We spent a lot of our time on the second floor balcony. For our group of 9, there was a place to sleep for everyone which can be hard to find for larger groups. Everything was very clean which I love. The beds were comfortable with nice pillows which made the stay even better. The living room and kitchen were perfect for our group to gather and hang out. Everyone absolutely loved the house and we made great memories together there. The owner of the property was amazing to work with. He sent detailed information that helped us know where to go and what to do. He followed through on everything. He helped me feel comfortable with renting.

The reason I'm not putting 5 stars is I was a little alarmed by the street. It didn't feel like the safest street. The neighbors had a lot of trash in their yard. I felt like we needed to be on the lookout a little bit. BUT in the house you felt like you were in a nice area because the house didn't match the surroundings. The only reason I'm stating this aspect is because I wish I had known so I could prepare everyone. We were a group of women only.

Owner's Response: Hi Margaret, I'm glad you liked the house...and glad you had a great time! My next door neighbor is elderly, and her grand kids have decided to start recycling. While I applaud their effort, I will talk to her about keeping it out-of-site. Hope you will Come Visit Us In Savannah...Again! ~Jerry

Located in the Historic Thomas Square District...the entire Historic District is within a 2 mile walk radius.

We are between downtown and midtown. There are some restaurants and Cafe's (1--2 blocks), and some of the nicest antique stores (4) with in 2 blocks in either direction.

The house is about 20 minutes from Tybee Beaches, Forsyth Park is 0.9 miles (about 10 blocks), Kroger (the only chain grocery store downtown) is 0.8 miles (about 8 1/2 blocks), and 39 blocks from River St. We walk to River St, and we walk the park everyday.

Savannah has lots of foot traffic, and it is a multi-cultural society. You will see locals, and tourists at "hang-out" spots throughout the city. It is a very dog friendly city and most sidewalk cafes and businesses put out water for you pets.

If you are going to take a tour, you can park at the Visitor's Center for free. Also, there is a free shuttle around town (the CAT shuttle--maps available). Some of our guests tells us that the Visitor's Center offers a city-wide parking pass.

There is a Middle Eastern Deli, one block from the house. And one of the best restaurants (Elizabeth's On 37th) is only 2--3 blocks. There is a new restaurant (the Green Truck) 1.5 blocks away that has just been voted as having the best hamburgers in Savannah. Sammy Green's Subs and sandwiches is about 6 blocks away. There is a Grits 'n Gravy breakfast/sandwich shop 2 blocks away.
