About Linda Drake
My husband and I live in Oneonta. I have been a local person all my life. I went to school in Cooperstown and I went to college in Oneonta. I am a bank of information for directions and fun things to do around here. We love to travel and I have some of my photographs in the house. I hope you enjoy them.
Linda Drake purchased this House in 1981
Why Linda Drake chose Oneonta
I raised my three children in this home. We have wonderful memories that were made here. I've always welcomed everyone in my house. I hope to welcome you. I have made the home cozy and comfortable for you. Oneonta is a great place to live. I have traveled all over the world, yet, we chose to live here.
What makes this House unique
Once you wind your way down the streets to the house, one forgets that you are in the city of Oneonta. My children learned to ride bikes on the dead end street. It was a place that they could run and play outside and I didn't have to worry about them. This house was where all their friends were welcome and family happened here! My grown children are excited that I have started this project and I am opening up our home so others can enjoy it. Oneonta and surroundings offers a lot of entertainment. Some examples are: Oneonta Tigers (minor league baseball team) games in the park down the road, two beautiful parks, Orpheus Theatre, Franklin Play Company, Glimmerglass Opera, many small lakes to visit, Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame (of course), The Farmer's Museum, The Fennimore House, and much more!!!!!!!!!

This is a great home away from home!
Drake's Escape is a very nice, clean, welcoming and spacious home. Linda is great to work with and is both readily available and very helpful. We recommend this stay!
Thank you very much! I try and make sure everyone’s stay is comfortable and feels like home. I enjoy helping you make the best out of your vacation with helpful suggestions. Please come again!!!!!! Next yeat we will have two cabins to rent as well located in the back lot. Stay tuned!!!!!
Quiet little house for kids to play in the yard.
We enjoyed our stay. We had a son playing at the Cooperstown Allstar Village (About 10min drive). Our other children were able to run and play in the backyard and have some room to play rather than a hotel. Everything you need is in the house for your use. Nothing fancy, just a nice place to stay and kickback while running back and forth to the ball park.
The Aseltine Family 7/2018
I am happy you enjoyed your stay. Yes, there is plenty of space for the children to play. I think I have the largest yard in the city! Please remember us next time. Next year we will have cabins in the back lot for you to stay in as well!
Thank you for choosing Drake's Escape!
Everyone is super friendly!
The house was nice. It had plenty of space. Everyone we interacted with was very friendly.
The house was clean and in great repair the owner was very attentive while we were there.
I’m happy you enjoyed Drake’s Escape! I try and make sure the house is always clean and comfy.
I hope you were able to enjoy Otsego Lake while you visted Cooperstown.
You are certainly welcome to stay again next year!
We really enjoyed our stay at Drake's escape. It was quiet, roomy, very clean and had everything we needed. We were there to visit Cooperstown and it was an easy drive away. Our grown sons had fun playing catch in the backyard and watching a playoff game in the evening. Linda was kindly available if we needed any thing.
Wonderful Weekend Adventure
We came up for the Susquehanna Balloon festival and stayed at Drake's Escape. This was the perfect solution for the weekend. The house was super clean, had amazing photography all throughout that was taken by the owner, centrally located to everything in town and even had a grill out back for our BBQ. The house has lots 'of space and next year we might even bring some out of town crew, It was nice to still have the 'at home' feel. This was my first time staying in a whole house and I will DEFINITELY be doing it again.
There are many unique museums within 20 min.-30 min. away; Farmer's Museum, Fenimore Art Museum (includes an Indian museum), Baseball Hall of Fame, and Hannaford Mills Museum to name a few. We are in the country surrounded with land and farms...lots of hiking and many small lakes for your enjoyment. Oneonta is called, "the city of the hills." The scenery is beautiful in the summer and the foliage in the fall is unbeatable! Come experience our cozy town.
