Overview

About the property

Very private 4 bdr+, 3.5 ba waterfront home on 1.1 acre w stunning views

Relax and enjoy spectacular waterfront sunsets year round from our beautiful, peaceful lakefront home. Only 10-15 minutes from Bellingham's core areas, yet a million miles away from the rush of city life. Our home is ideally located on a dead-end road, in a very quiet section of the highly sought-after sunny side of the lake. We enjoy bright sun well into the evening year round. Our home is perched just above the lake at an ideal elevation - high enough to offer an unparalleled, panoramic view of the lake removed from any boat noise, but low enough to be just steps away from our private beach. We have wonderful neighbors, but our property is so private that you may never see them.

Constructed of cedar logs and situated on 1.1 park-like acres with over 200 feet of no bank private water front, our spacious home feels like a resort lodge. The house includes 4 large bedrooms plus a loft, a bright well-equipped kitchen, a large open living area with floor to ceiling windows, a recreation/home theater room, and a large jacuzzi/soaking tub. We can sleep 6 in real beds. A 4th bedroom is currently used as a study, but can hold a queen air mattress to sleep 8. The loft holds a double futon to bring the total to 10. A large dining table just off the kitchen on the expansive deck provides a great spot for alfresco dining. Our study is equipped with a large built-in desk, high speed internet connection and printer. In addition, we have high speed wireless access throughout the house. With lots of southern exposure the house is bright and sunny year round, offering spectacular views from almost every room.

There is no shortage of recreational activities. Two kayaks and a small aluminum fishing boat with electric motor are available to explore the water in our backyard. If you'd like to bring your own ski boat, we have a dock and one of the few private boat launches on the lake. Our spacious private beach is double the size of most other lakefront properties in the area. It includes a large dock, fire ring, two picnic tables, a BBQ, lots of seating and plenty of space for waterside relaxation and games. As is true with most properties in our section of the lake, the house is set across the road from the beach and at a slight elevation, which affords stellar views, peace and privacy. The beach is just steps across a very low traffic, quiet road and can be accessed via a set of stairs from the house. Those with mobility issues can conveniently drive right up to the beach.

On rainy days, you can choose from a large library, a wide selection of family games, or a home theater room with a 62' television, X-Box 360 and a large collection of video games, Blu-Ray and DVDs. On the main level, the large open living room has a stereo, but no television, and is a great place to curl up with a book by the fireplace or just enjoy the panoramic view through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

There are many great spots to escape with a good book or just to enjoy the view and the wildlife (eagles, deer, and geese are all frequently sighted). You can also fish from the dock or enjoy a scenic walk on the 3 mile long lakeside trail that starts a short stroll from our home. Keep in shape with a well-equipped home gym (elliptical, recumbent bike, free weights and squat rack). Take a bike ride along the lake. Golf on one of Bellingham's many excellent courses. Ski or snowboard at Mt Baker. Or best yet, simply relax on the expansive deck with family, friends and your beverage of choice. Whatever your interest, there is something here for everyone in every season.

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this property for a few close friends and family member to get away from our busy lives and relax. Even with the rainy weather, the house was perfect! Thank you to Jaret and Kerrie for letting us rent your beautiful vacation home, we can't wait to stay again!

Wonderful!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time! Thank you for sharing your home with us. We would definitely stay again.... the only thing we really didn't care for is, the air conditioning was set too high for the temperature of the weather when we stayed there. The information you had there to override the temperature for the short term, made no sense with the gauge on the wall, so we were unable to adjust it.

Also if you have problems with stairs... I would not recommend this place, because you have stairs inside the house and outside the house to get to the dock/lake across the road.

Regardless of any of those things...we would definitely stay again.

The home was wonderful, the views were fabulous, the time on the lake was a blast and we enjoyed the use of the hot tub! We called a couple of times and we were able to get in touch with someone to help us with small problems.

Thanks again for letting us stay in your home!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. For the benefit of future guests, I wanted to clarify your observations. We do not actually have air conditioning (as per our listing details). In fact, air conditioning is rare in the PNW as evenings are cool and there are very few truly hot days. The instructions in our home manual for mitigating hot days should keep our guests comfortable. The main floor of the house is fully accessible by wheelchair and includes the kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, two bathroom, and access to the deck. There are indeed stairs to the walkout basement as well as to the lakefront. Thanks again for staying with us.

Lakefront Gem

  • 5 of 5

House was clean and had lots of room for our family getaway. Big, beautiful deck overlooking the lake, that we enjoyed both during the day and in the evenings, the views were spectacular! We spent a lot of time down by the water on the dock - fishing, swimming, kayaking & sunning. We would stay here again :)

Better than imagined

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful time we had. We were a group of ten: My parents, and their two boys now grown up with two young families of their own. The house had a well-lived warmth to it that we will feel for years. You can read all about how gorgeous the place is etc. And the long waterfront with kayaks and a boats for us to use. The location is incredible and you can just stay there in the living room, and watch time go by. Or within an hour's drive visit Vancouver, or drive up to see Mt. Shuksan. But what was really cool was our host's totally helpful and gracious attitude. On the second day, I had to abandon their boat a few docks down the road, as I could not row it back against the strong wind. I called Jaret, was a bit stressed, and he laughed, completely relaxing me, explained the weather phenomenon behind the wind force, and told me to rest and just get it back when the weather was better. On another day, we asked if the water pressure could be improved and within three minutes I got a response on how to fix it, and sent the housekeeper as well to check things. No wonder this house gets rented back to back. We will certainly be back.

A perfect vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

We thought this would be a nice place based on the description and reviews, and it was well beyond our expectations. The house is comfortable and very thoughtfully furnished and laid out. The view is spectacular and the lake is idyllic. We had ten people, eleven years old and up, in the house for four nights and everyone enjoyed swimming, boating, making s'mores around the campfire, grilling and relaxing on the deck enjoying the view. The kitchen is well-equipped, the beds are comfortable, and we really could not have asked for a nicer place to stay!
