About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms (Sleeps 1-14)

This 100 year old classic Greek-revival Mansion is NOT a B&B, but a rare opportunity to enjoy a little Texas history and charm.

Our fully furnished 5,000 square foot mansion has 5 bedrooms & 3 1/2 bathrooms. Four of the rooms are located upstairs and the fifth room is downstairs. Three of our bedrooms offer private access to adjacent bathrooms and all of our suites have a flat screen TV, sitting area, Wi-Fi and 12 foot ceilings with a historical feel unlike any of the other modern venues. The house is covered in its original hardwood floors.

In the downstairs of the home, which we refer to as our 'museum' section has several 100 year old antiques, a chandelier and even a piano for our musically talented guests and their entertainment. Our family room has leather furniture with a 'oil mans' historical motif look that sets directly off the 500 square foot covered patio overlooking the sparkling POOL and FIRE PIT.

Other amenities include a fully stocked kitchen, dinning room, living room, two sets of washer/dryer (upstairs & downstairs) and an over-sized private yard. Our kitchen has ample flatware and cooking utensils for 20 people and a second refrigerator for those extra beverages. If you are preparing to cook a holiday dinner or host a large group, there is a double oven and formal dining room that comfortably seats 12 people.

This beautiful home sits on an acre of meticulously manicured lawn, which is canopied by 100 year old oak trees.

So...if it's your afternoon tea party, family reunion, wedding or your weekend long corporate event for large groups of people (20-250) the Gonzales Venue is your solution!

We are here to create 'FOREVER MEMORIES' for you, your family and friends!

For wedding parties, the home can be easily divided into separate bride and groom quarters. Upstairs we have a luxurious bridal area with a wedding gown fitting stage and comfortable seating. Downstairs in the basement is our underground "Speakeasy" bar and game room. The groom and his entourage can enjoy relaxing and reminiscing about good times while playing pool, poker and watching sports and enjoying a cocktail at the bar.

This beautiful Mansion was built and designed in 1910 by Gonzales entrepreneur, O.B. Robertson. He was an attorney before taking up banking as well as involved in farming and lumber. Robertson's most known endeavor was building a brick company on the banks of the Guadalupe River in Gonzales, first called the Sunset Brick Company, later called 'Gonzales Brick'. You will find most of the building on Gonzales Square of this brick.

This breathtaking jewel is located on a beautifully manicured acre of natural beauty on the edge of the official Texas historical museum district. The elegant entrance opens onto one of the most historic residential avenues in the state of Texas – the avenue of ancient oaks where Sam Houston, his troops, and the population of Gonzales heroically marched to Texas victory and independence in 1836.

Gonzales, the home of “Come and Take It” the battle cry where the first shot of the Texas revolutionary war happened, is an irresistible, carefully planned canvas of historic homes, churches and museums, of public parklands and playgrounds, just ten minutes south of interstate 10 on an inviting stretch of hwy 183 as it winds its way to the Texas coast.

A short one-hour drive time to Austin and San Antonio and a little more to Houston and the gulf coast, Gonzales is among the most desirable locations in the state.

In the heart of the eagle ford shale oil and gas activity, economic indicators place Gonzales as one of the wealthiest rural counties in the nation within the next five years. With its charming 19th century storefronts, five Texas history museums, and avenue upon avenue of elegant historic homes, the quality of life opportunity and economic potential of life in Gonzales today is unparalleled.

Why Roxana Kappmeyer chose Prairies & Lakes

Luxury home in a Quiet neighborhood. Large outdoor Patio with 100 year old oak trees that provide a lot of shade and a fabulous Pool to cool off in the hot summer Texas sun.

What makes this house unique

The breathtaking surroundings, natural beauty and 100 year old oak trees as you pull up to this historical home says it all! The spacious steps leading up to the covered porch and the large white historical columns that surround the house absolutely take your breath away. One of our favorite places to spend during the hot summer Texas heat is on our private covered and fully shaded patio as well as swimming in the pool, enjoying steaks on the BBQ and playing sports with the family in the large backyard. This home is truly a 'memory maker' for all!

What a magical Christmas!

  • 5 of 5

My entire immediate family and I stayed here together over Christmas. We had such a wonderfully magical Christmas in this gorgeous mansion. Our kids now call it the "Christmas Mansion". There was plenty of room for all 14 of us. The kids all got to wake up together on Christmas morning and see what Santa had brought them and spent the day playing with all their new stuff. We made some great memories!

Thanksgiving family trip

  • 4 of 5

When you arrive you feel transported back in history to the early days of Texas. The Mansion is a part of that history. It is elegant but also practical for large families stay. We really liked sitting in the rocking chairs in the backyard facing the swimming pool. The steaks we cooked on the huge charcoal brick grill were absolutely delicious. At night, the adults and children really enjoyed gathering around the fire pit. There were plenty of comfortable beds for the nine adults and five children in our group. The huge kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and the dining table was large enough to accommodate everyone. There are flat screen TVs in almost every room and the internet connection was very good. This was an excellent trip with wonderful memories.

Fantastic long weekend extended family getaway

  • 5 of 5

This location was perfect for our annual memorial weekend getaway! There was plenty of room indoors and outdoors, the property had all the amenities, and the 'go-to-guy', Gene, answered all of our phone calls and questions! The owners were friendly and flexible and the management company was on the ball and very helpful. On top of it all, the property was very affordable. Two thumbs up!

Great Wedding Venue

  • 5 of 5

Super place for a roaring 20s theme wedding as this mansion probably encountered many parties back in the 1920s. The house is perfect for a wedding venue and the backyard was gorgeous set up for a reception. We only had about 40 guests but could definitely hold many more. Guests at the wedding commented that it was so unique for this style wedding. They loved the house and grounds. Special thanks to Gene as he made sure everything we needed was taken care of. Also a special thanks to Rayce that was in charge of the pool, he went above and beyond to make sure the pool was in tip top condition which was a challenge after all the storms. Arrangements for renting the house was a breeze.

Our family had a great stay at the Gonzales Mansion for our family reunion. The house is just beautiful We loved all the space in the house as well as the wonderful outside areas. Homemade ice cream on the back porch overlooking the pool - what could be better?! Making arrangements for renting was easy as the owners were very responsive.

Great place for a reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We just had our 25 Year Class Reunion at the Mansion. The house and grounds make the perfect setting for get-togethers like that. The kids also loved the pool and yard during the "meet the families" event.
