This 100 + year old Classic Greek-Revival Mansion is NOT a B&B, but an exceptional opportunity to enjoy a little Texas History and charm. Where else can you rent a Mansion for this value?

Our fully furnished 6,000 square foot mansion has 5 bedrooms & 3 1/2 bathrooms. Four of the rooms are located upstairs and the fifth room is downstairs. Three of our bedrooms offer private access to adjacent bathrooms and all of our suites have a flat screen TV, sitting area, Wi-Fi and 12 foot ceilings with a historical feel unlike any of the other modern venues. As a bonus, our basement & "speakeasy" bar and game room has a sofa bed perfect for the kids. The house is covered in its original hardwood floors.

In the downstairs of the home, which we refer to as our 'museum' section has several antiques, a chandelier and even a piano for our musically talented guests and their entertainment. Our family room has leather furniture with a 'oil mans' historical motif look that sets directly off the 500 square foot covered patio overlooking the sparkling POOL/HOT TUB and FIRE PIT.

Other amenities include a fully stocked kitchen, dinning room, living room, two sets of washer/dryer (upstairs & downstairs) and an over-sized private yard. Our kitchen has ample flatware and cooking utensils for 20 people and a second refrigerator for those extra beverages. If you are preparing to cook a holiday dinner or host a large group, there is a double oven and formal dining room that comfortably seats 12 people.

This beautiful home sits on an acre of meticulously manicured lawn, which is canopied by 100 - 400 year old oak trees.

We are here to create 'FOREVER MEMORIES' for you, your family and friends!

For your event we can provide outdoor tables, chairs and linens for seating for up to 125 people. We have suitable parking for 15 vehicles on site as well as additional public parking across the street. We also, have preferred vendors; caterers, photographers, bands, and florists at discounted rates. For your additional lodging needs for your guest, ask us about great new hotel rates as low as $59 per night.

For wedding parties, the home can be easily divided into separate bride and groom quarters. Upstairs we have a luxurious bridal area with a wedding gown fitting stage and comfortable seating. Downstairs in the basement is our underground "Speakeasy" bar and game room. The groom and his entourage can enjoy relaxing and reminiscing about good times while playing pool, poker, watching sports and enjoying a cocktail at the bar.

HERE'S A LITTLE HISTORY OF OUR HOME:

This beautiful Mansion was built and designed in 1910 by Gonzales entrepreneur, O.B. Robertson. He was an attorney before taking up banking as well as involved in farming and lumber. Robertsons' most known endeavor was building a brick company on the banks of the Guadalupe River in Gonzales, first called the Sunset Brick Company, later Robertson renamed it, The Gonzales Brick Company. Interesting enough this Mansion is not built out of the brick from the Gonzales Brick Company. Rumor has it, that Robertson wanted a different brick than what was in most of the town. So he traded his brick to his friendly competitor named, D'Hanis. You will find most of the buildings on the Gonzales Square made out of this brick.

This breathtaking jewel is located on a beautifully manicured acre of natural beauty on the edge of the official Texas historical museum district. The Gonzales museum is walking distance from the Mansion and is where the famous "Come & Take It" cannon is located; which shot the First shot of the Texas Revolution. The elegant entrance opens onto one of the most historic residential avenues in the state of Texas – the avenue of ancient oaks where Sam Houston, his troops, and the population of Gonzales heroically marched to Texas victory and independence in 1836.

Gonzales, the home of “Come and Take It” the battle cry where the first shot of the Texas revolutionary war happened, is an irresistible, carefully planned canvas of historic homes, churches and museums, of public park lands and playgrounds, just ten minutes south of interstate 10 on an inviting stretch of hwy 183 as it winds its way to the Texas coast.

A short one-hour drive time to Austin and San Antonio and a little more to Houston and the gulf coast, Gonzales is among the most desirable locations in the state.

In the heart of the eagle ford shale oil and gas activity, economic indicators place Gonzales as one of the wealthiest rural counties in the nation within the next five years. With its charming 19th century storefronts, five Texas history museums, and avenue upon avenue of elegant historic homes, the quality of life opportunity and economic potential of life in Gonzales today is unparalleled.

Excellent place for a large family.

  • 5 of 5

This home is the perfect place for folks that want a real Texas historical experience. The home is great and located just minutes from the Gonzalez Texas History Museum. It is ideal for a large family of 8 like ours or your next family reunion. The rooms are great and there is plenty of room for activities, including a great outdoor area with a pool.

Can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

I booked the mansion with Julie last minute for a holiday weekend after I decided I could not let another 3 day weekend go by without getting out of Southeast Texas! My husband & I were going to rent the place just for ourselves but decided to take my step kids with us last minute. My goal for the weekend was to stay away from people in general and get some sun! What woman or little girl doesn't want to stay in a mansion?!? The pool was great, big shallow end, deep deep in with benches inside the pool. Big yard with huge, gorgeous oak trees and our 2 dogs LOVED running around and playing on the bushes. The yard does have a privacy fence but you're not too far from the main road and it's not completely enclosed, so if you're bringing your furbabies you have to keep a close eye on them. The house is old & beautiful but has a flat screen tv in almost every room with wifi and 3 AC/HEAT units for all 3 floors you'll use. The appliance are great & updated, gas stove but the kitchen fridge, although on the coldest temp when we got there, wasn't keeping everything super cold. We bought plenty of groceries so we just put some in the laundry room fridge and it all worked out. All the bathrooms were clean & beds were comfy. The basement is a game room/speakeasy which is updated & fun. We opted out of the hot tub being that it's hot out & with the additional fee for it we decided we wouldn't use it. The backyard had these Edison bulb light strings among the oaks and it's just so peaceful and romantic. We had a great time an we're sorry to have to leave. They have a museum my husband & the kids checked out and enjoyed themselves, they ever drove about 20 minutes to Shiner to check everything out even though the brewery was closed. Gene was great checking in on us upon check in and answered his phone the few times we did have to call him. The owners were friendly & communicated through phone & email before our arrival.

Enchanting

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, we felt welcomed and at home in this beautiful mansion. Even though we were a large group, we had plenty of room in which to relax and visit. My favorite spot was the covered porch overlooking the beautiful yard and pool area. I would recommend the Gonzales Mansion as an ideal place for any event. Upon leaving, you'll take with you not only wonderful memories but an important piece of Texas history as well.

Wonderful weekend family get together!!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Gonzales Mansion for a girl cousin weekend. We could not have asked for better accommodations!! We had plenty of room, comfortable beds for everyone, enjoyed every meal together after cooking in the adorable kitchen and relaxed in the gorgeous backyard setting! The owners are wonderful - Chris happened to stop by our last morning there and was gracious enough to take multiple pictures of our group and give us some history about the house!! I would definitely recommend this gem to anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming place to stay!

Girl Cousins Reunion

  • 5 of 5

First impressions are never made a second time -- My first impression was "How clean and smelled so sweet!" That is hard to get from an older home. There was so much space that none of us 10 women were tripping over each other. I have already told many friends of the beauty of the house and surrounding yard which was so relaxing and private. Beds were comfortable, plenty of indoor comfortable seating as well as great outdoor lounge furniture. Can't wait to return! Thank you for preserving Gonzales historical mansion.
