A beautiful home in a beautiful location
We stayed at Alice’s house during a two week vacation from England, timed so that we could see the wonderful colours of fall foliage in Vermont and then on Mount Desert Island and in Arcadia National Park. The house is in a beautiful setting, with a pond lined by red and orange trees in fall, and we are so grateful for having had the chance to stay in such a wonderful place. We have strong memories, which we hope to refresh in years to come.
Maine Vacation Home
Property was in a great spot for exploring all of MDI. The kids loved their bedrooms, all of the moose stuffed animals, and the outdoor location.
Quiet cabin in wooded setting
Great location for seeing all the sights in Acadia and Bar Harbor. Cabin was clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the Wi-Fi. We could not watch TV and use wifi on our phones at the same time.
Lovely home and a beautiful place! Loved Acadia!
Thanks for your comment. I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
Very comfortable family home
We had a fantastic week in this lovely family home. The house is located on a beautiful private lot a short drive from Acadia park’s cycling and hiking trails and the amenities of Bar Harbor. The house was very clean and comfortable and the kitchen was was well equipped. I would highly recommend it!
I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. I would welcome a return visit at some time in the future. Alice Harper
A great home-base to visit Acadia
The cabin is a lovely, well-equipped property in a very quiet location. It worked well for just the two of us (8 days) and with our 2 grown children/spouses visiting (6 days) - I would recommend it for a romantic get-away or a family vacation. The cabin was well stocked... with spices (for cooking), games/books/videos (entertainment) and mosquito repellent (it is Maine, after all). Down by the pond we saw the beaver, a broad-shouldered hawk and great blue heron, along with the usual assortment of birds, bugs & mushrooms.
Being Mt Desert Island, you are really not far away from anything: head east and you are in downtown Bar Harbor withing 15 minutes... head south and you can be in Southwest or Northeast Harbors in about the same time...and Acadia National Park is pretty much in any direction. You can easily head to Indian Point to hike in the morning, return to the cabin for lunch, then go to the stables for an afternoon carriage ride -- nothing is too far.
Finally, one of my goals while in Maine was to photograph the Milky Way - the view south from beside the pond on a clear night was perfect.
Come to Bar Harbor, the first place to see the Sun in the United States. Mount Desert Island's (MDI) unique topography provides a mixture of natural woodlands, waterways and mountains. Experience activities ranging from golf, fishing, birding, biking, boating to mountain climbing all without leaving MDI. Take a mail boat to the Cranberry Islands. Climb the 'Bubbles' and then reward yourself with high tea at Jordon Pond House where giant popovers and strawberry jam are made using the same recipe originally used in the late 1800's
