The cabin itself was the perfect getaway. We loved sitting in the hot tub with the sound of the river behind us and the snow falling all around us. Such a beautiful experience! We are so grateful to the host who checked in on us during a blizzard and worked hard to have us plowed out. Anna was kind, thoughtful, and communicative. We are so glad this is the place we chose for our trip and hope to come back again next year!
Stayed for two nights in late June. Loved the river located directly on the property. Close to the city of Marquette, so it was in an ideal location for a nice day trip and for exploring Lake Superior.
Upon arrival, Google Maps directed us to an overgrown trail rather than the property. The host’s driving instructions did not mention that GPS would take guests past the driveway, nor did they provide any identifying landmarks or signage. After calling the host around 9:30 PM, we were told we were in the wrong location and he thought we cancelled even though we messaged two days before. The host provided updated directions and arrived shortly after to prepare the property. We were not able to settle in until approximately 10:30 PM due to the place not being clean. Once inside, we discovered that the sleeping accommodations did not match the listing. The advertised queen bed appeared to be a full-size mattress, and it sagged significantly in the middle. At 5’6”, my feet hung off the end of the bed, and the severe dip in the mattress caused enough discomfort that I woke up with back pain during the night. The bed was not suitable for two adults to sleep comfortably. The property’s river setting is beautiful and was the highlight of our stay. However, the inaccurate directions, confusion upon arrival, and sleeping arrangements that did not match the listing significantly impacted our experience. Based on our stay, I do not feel the property offers the value reflected in its current price and it cannot accommodate more than 2 people even with one sleeping on the hard couch(it is not a pull out double bed as described on the listing)
Me and my husband had a very relaxing quiet weekend getaway. This cabin is secluded and there are some beautiful views. The weather was just perfect for being mid October. The hot tub and sauna were just right for those chilly evenings. We did have some problems with flies and beetles, but that happens everywhere. Would be nice if you had a little vacuum to clean up all the dead flies and beetles.

Born and raised in Gwinn. Outstanding fly fishing and kayaking here on The Middle Branch are just 2 of my top 10 things to do here. You can kayak right to the cabin or even float on tubes. Snowmobile and ATV trails within 1 to 2 miles from cabin. As well as snowshoeing, cross country skiing, hiking paths, dirt bike trails and multiple local lakes. Downtown is under 3 miles to get gas, food, drinks and entertainment
Why they chose this property
It was my great great grandparents farm and my mother was raised in Princeton from birth until middle school
What makes this property unique
UNIQUE AND RARE -Waterfront 30 + private acres, Several trails have been added through out the property. Minutes from everything but so private and secluded. 5 person hot tub and wood sauna. This is the only local Airbnb that is on 30+ acres on the Escanaba River or around Gwinn on water that is so private and secluded. Literally minutes from local town, 25 minutes from Marquette. Very centrally located to trave tol any location in the U.P. Within 2 hours either direction you completely across the U P. Pretty much anything you are looking for, need or want to do i can put you in contact with people to make it happen or will have the information requested since I'm a local Yooper girl. .
