Come enjoy this family friendly beach apartment in a private community. The property features 2 bedrooms (1 king, 2 bunk beds) and a bath. The great room includes kitchenette with Thermador cooktop, small refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, toaster, and a complete set of Calphalon Cookware Herbs, spices, sugar, coffee and tea, as well as soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, and paper products. There is a washer/dryer combo in the bathroom. The Boat House also has HD TV, AC/heat, charcoal Weber grill on large deck overlooking the private beach--access to 60 feet of waterfront! Our private association has a park with a playground, tennis court and shuffleboard a short walk away. A garden railroad (G gauge) next door is fun for children and adults! Check out what's happening in the workshop as well. Unfortunately the Boathouse is not pet-friendly or accessible for wheelchairs as there is an outdoor flight of stairs to access the apartment.

About Pam Comer
Dave and I have always loved traveling and have stayed in many vacation rentals over the past 20 years. We originally built the garage apartment next door for our son and his family but they're only here for 2 weeks a year. Now we want to share our slice of beach, lake and fun with fellow travelers.
Pam Comer purchased this Apartment in 1997
Why Pam Comer chose Harbor Springs
The cottage next door, where we live, was built in 1880 and moved from Harbor Point to its current location by horses across frozen Lake Michigan at the turn of the 20th Century. My great grandparents, grandparents, my father, my aunts, myself, my children and now my grandchildren have spent every summer here since 1920 when my father was brought up here on the train in a laundry basket!
What makes this Apartment unique
My grandfather came up to Bay View when he was eleven. He came back up in 1920 looking for a summer rental for his young family to escape the heat in Indianapolis. My grandmother vetted his choices over the phone by asking, "How do you get to the beach?" The other two cottages involved crossing railroad tracks and roads. When talking about this cottage, the answer was, "You just cross the sidewalk."

This was our second stay in less than a year! The location on the beach is peaceful and quiet. Easy drive into downtown. I would highly recommend this property but don’t want this gem to become too well known or it won’t be available for our next trip (sorry Dave!).
Thanks, Gary, for your kind review. We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again soon.
Cozy Beachfront Apartment in a Great Location
We had a great time at the Boat House! The property is right on the private beach and is extremely well appointed. We packed out own supplies (TP, paper towel, coffee filters, dish soap, laundry detergent, etc.), but that was not really necessary. Everything we needed was included in the apartment. The apartment is cozy and comfortable and well maintained. There are also a lot of things to see and do that are very close to the property (Thorne Smith Nature Preserve, Pond Hill Farm, Petoskey State Park, Bear River Recreation Area, etc.) The only small complaint would be that the combo washer/dryer is pretty small and takes a long time to run thru a cycle. But, that was truly a minor inconvenience. We would highly recommend the Boat House!
Our own beach!
We loved having our own beachfront and the ability to have a fire on the beach. The apartment was perfect for the 2 of us. Super comfy bed in the main bedroom and a set of bunk beds in the second bedroom. All the amenities you need for an enjoyable stay. We will rent again!
Thank you for the lovely review. So glad you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to welcoming you again in the future.
We had a wonderful time at the Boat House!
Thanks to Dave and Pam for a lovely vacation at their Boat House property in Harbor Springs. Our weather was hit or miss, but it didn't matter to us! We had a nice clean and dry place to play games, cook good food, and spend time together. When it was sunny, we were on the beach building sand castles, checking out bees on the golden rod, and looking for heart shaped rocks. We had such a nice time. Thanks again for a great week.
Really enjoyed our time at the boat house. Perfect location for a quiet vacation with our boys. Pam and Dave were great hosts.
So glad you enjoyed your time here! We hope you come back soon with your boys. Pam and Dave
Third Time Just As Charming
My husband and I just completed our third stay at the Boat House. It's a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Everything about the place is top notch, and the decor is delightful. The deck across the front provides great views of and gentle breezes from the beach. The private beach is quite large. The beach chairs are provided, and there is an established fire pit in the sand for roasting hot dogs and s'mores. The open concept living space is spacious. The two bedrooms have built-in chests of drawers and adequate closet space. The bathroom has a great shower. If you choose to leave the Boat House to explore the area, you will find good restaurants and many places to explore in Harbor Springs and close by.
Thank you for you wonderful review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay here for the third time. I was blown away by your pictures that you took of the Milky Way from our beach! We would love to see how you take such fabulous pictures next time you're here. I was also interested in your trip to the Headlands International Dark Sky Park in Mackinaw City. I have added it to my suggestion list of things to do in the area. We hope you will be returning for many years to come.

Harbor Springs is a mile and a half away with shops, restaurants, a post office, an ATM, a fudge shop, Tom's Mom's Cookies, Yummies, the unique Lyric Theatre for movies, and Gurneys for the best sandwiches to go. Going west on M-119 (at the top of our hill) is the beginning of the "Tunnel of Trees" which goes all the way to Cross Village where you must stop for a meal at Leggs Inn. On the way there, stopping at Thorne Swift, you can walk a boardwalk through the woods to the lake and also visit their science exhibits. Another good stop along the way for kids and everyone is Pond Hill Farm. Enjoy lunch, wine tasting, doing "squash rockets", and seeing the farm animals as well as a fish pond. When you're ready to leave Cross Village you can always go east and return to Harbor Springs on State Road.
Petoskey has its fancy shops, big box stores, a movie theatre, Pirates' Cove, and many restaurants.
