The grand, spacious kitchen will likely be a centerpiece of your laughs and memories as it frequently acts as a sort of great room. Enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, even from inside the home, with the large sliding glass doors and many windows. The pictures just do not do the house or views justice.

The Adirondack chairs on the porches are great for bird watching, mountain viewing, stargazing, reading and just plain sitting. The hot tub is a great place for stargazing and unwinding after a day of adventures. You will want to take in the views from every room in the house, ogle at the western sky near sunset, watch the changing clouds and shades of pink over the mountains, relax on the porches, soak in the camaraderie of the kitchen space, take walks around the property and vicinity, stare at the fire as it dances in the outdoor wood fireplace, and gaze at the milky way and stars at night. These will be the best of times shared with your friends and family. Go play all day in this southwestern playground, and come back to enjoy the camaraderie and space of this gorgeous home. Don't be surprised to see deer on the drive or on the property. The eagles’ nest (and hopefully the eagles) can be seen from the road on the way to the home, just past Bauer Lake. You’ll certainly be able to find the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation you desire at this stunning home in such a breathtaking area.

Close to Durango (30 minutes), Telluride (90 minutes), Mesa Verde National Park Entrance (10 minutes), the San Juan National Forest (5 minutes), Purgatory Mountain (1 hour), Arches National Park (2.5 hours), and the San Juan Skyway (233 mile loop in SW Colorado). You will have access to more than your fill (but you may never want to leave the property). Mancos is a quaint little western town 3.5 miles from the home with all the essentials and then some. Fahrenheit Coffee Roasters, the local coffee shop; Olio, a ten-table, reservation-only restaurant and wine bar; Absolute Bakery, a favorite for breakfast and lunch; are all worthy of note. Mancos also has a small local grocery, liquor store, a brew pub, additional restaurants, a yoga studio, a spa for a massage or facial, a paint your own shop, a park, and more.

This is our dream home. Please respect it and all that we have invested in the space. We welcome you to enjoy the home and the surrounding area to relax and enjoy all that nature and this wonderful spot offers. But if you are coming to use the house just to party, to smoke inside or have pets, please look elsewhere. Children are welcome, but we ask that you provide good supervision, both for their safety and the respect of our home.

There is a portable pack-and-play and high chair for a child and a queen air mattress available.The kitchen is very well appointed. You will also have some basic kitchen essentials available, such as spices, flour, sugar, salt, pepper basic condiments etc. Dishwasher and laundry soap are supplied.

The house is amazing. Very spacious for 4 adults, kitchen well equipped, fabulous patio area and hot tub. Beautiful area of Colorado that is easily accessible to many hiking and sight seeing attractions.

Perfect Getaway

We had such a fun time at this house. We were able to access local trails, local beer and visit National Parks all without driving for hours. The house itself is pure perfection, the views are amazing and they provide all you need to feel like you are at home.

Wow, the pictures show an incredible home but do not do this property justice! I met my adult siblings and spouses there for our annual get together. All bedrooms offer privacy and the common areas are incredible. DO NOT hesitate to rent this place.

Our stay at this home for a brief Christmas holiday couldn't have been better! The lovely home had a great layout for our 3 families gathering with plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful house in the perfect location!

Our stay here was incredible! The house was a great size & layout for 8 people with plenty of space for big dinners and hanging out. The views of the mountains are amazing and can be enjoyed from lots of comfy patio spaces. We brought a telescope to stargaze, and loved that we were away from the city lights. The location is perfect for exploring Mesa Verde & activities in Durango - easily accessible, nicely furnished and peaceful surroundings.

Friends weekend

This is a beautiful location and very nice home. The kitchen is well stocked with nearly anything you could imagine or need while staying away from home. It's private and an easy drive from the highway. We were grateful to use the outside fireplace and hold a vigil for our friend suffering from cancer.

This house was so well appointed!! The kitchen had all we could have asked for and more! What a treat building a fire every night on the outside porch or soaking in the hot tob and looking out over the mountains. This home is one in a million! The views are spectacular and the location quite and peaceful! The home is immaculate and extremely well stocked. The owners are quick to respond and very helpful. We truly enjoyed our time here! My kids wanted to experience snow and they got just that! My husband and I loved watching the snow fall through the huge beautiful windows while hanging out by the fire. I had a perfect vacation in mind and this place exceeded my expectations! We really hope to be back soon!

Perfect Place!

The house was Perfect! We could not have picked a better place/spot. The house is comfortable and spacious with plenty of room for everyone to spread out or come together. It's beautiful inside and outside, its super clean and has everything you need! The location was perfect for our plans, Mancos is small but has the essentials. It's only 30 min to Durango and 1.5 hrs to Telluride, both places were fantastic! We even decided to drive to Canyonlands, Utah on our last day (about 2 hrs to the south entrance) and did some off-roading - so much fun! Wish we could have stayed longer, would absolutely love to come back and would definitely recommend to others. We loved every second, thanks for letting us stay!

Heavenly comfort in Mancos

This house is so clean and immaculate it must be fairly new. Everyone remarked how much they loved the design and layout; we all wanted to take it home with us! Remarkable blend of beauty, use of space and functionality. Well-sited to enjoy the mountain views and Mancos Valley. House is well equipped in all respects. Love the kitchen and outdoor patio with fireplace. Expectations easily exceeded. Wish we had stayed longer. And do not let the copious rules bother you (wait till you own a rental property!) The owner could not be a sweeter lady to deal with if she tried.

Beautiful, well-appointed home with great views and a fantastic location

A group of friends and I just spent a week in this home and we loved every second of it! The property is immaculate and the most well-appointed vacation rental I've ever been in. It has anything and everything you can think of: lots of cooking utensils, all the pots and pans, and even a number of more specialized small appliances. It made cooking for a large group a treat. The master suite is enormous and very comfortable; each bedroom is a good size as well. We enjoyed playing pool upstairs and sitting by the outdoor fireplace. We took a few walks down to the nearby lake, and were thrilled to spot a pair of nesting bald eagles! I can't recommend this place highly enough, and the owner, Sue, was a joy to communicate with.

Gorgeous views and all the amenities!

We were looking for some luxury and amenities, but away from the noise and hustle of the bigger towns. This property hit all the marks! The backdrop views of the mountains were beautiful. The house was as lovely as advertised. We rarely heard a car pass on the little road to the house. Mancos offered a quaint assortment of small town shops and Durango and Cortez were within a 30 minute drive. We saw all kinds of wildlife from foxes, rabbits, groundhogs, squirrels, birds and a coyote. My 10 year old son loved adventuring in the nearby state park. All in all, a perfect place to commune with nature and relax in high luxury. A peaceful and serene place indeed.

This property was exactly as described. The kitchen has everything you will ever need! The home owner even provided us with a roaster pan to cook our turkey in. The owner was very specific with directions to the home and included the door codes for easy access. We would stay here in a heart beat again!

Mountain Retreat Escape

We had a girlfriends retreat to remember at your lovely home. The home was so wonderful that truthfully, other than a lunch trip into Durango, we never left your property except for walks up and down your peaceful road. We sat around, read books, cooked, drank wine, laughed and all the things you want to do at a leisurely pace but never get around to. I think my favorite was our 3 hour breakfast and coffee on the front porch in our pjs. I could use one of those right now!

Awesome House

A family wedding brought a bunch of us to the Durango area from all over the country. The home easily accommodated multiple family members so we all had our own space. Yet, the community space allowed us to share so many good times. The home is luxury all the way, the setting is peaceful and quiet (with great views!), and the opportunities for close adventure were limitless. Sue was great to work with as she offered a tour of the home when we first arrived. The location could not be better. Outside of wedding activities, some of us went zip lining, some took the Durango train, some took a day trip to Telluride and rode the free gondola, some did jeeping in the La Plata Canyon, some took short hikes close by and others even took a longer hike to Sharkstooth pass at 10,000 feet. We never even made it to Mesa Verde National Park so we will have to come back! I highly recommend this house to my friends and others.

We have rented vacation homes over the years as we took our children on vacations. We loved not waking up in a hotel with 3 kids, and having plentiful space for our family to laugh and play. Our jobs kept us living in the big city, but our hearts led us to the mountains. Now it's our turn to offer our dream home to others, hoping you can enjoy each other, nature, and peace as you make your own memories.

Why they chose this property

Why this home? Because it's really our home and not a rental property. It's beautiful and equipped for us for regular living with all the extra's you just don't find in investment houses. It was custom designed and lives great for a group (or just the two of you)... The home is close to town but in a quiet secluded setting. We often come to the home and hardly leave the property, as it's so peaceful just being there. Yet we are close to all the fun activities around us.

What makes this property unique

Because we are away from even the city of Durango, the night sky is spectacular. Seeing the milky way is awe inspiring.
