Reading about this listing in Prague as we sat in our cozy house in the States, we knew we were taking a risk. There were very few pictures and, at that time, no feedback. However, the description of the apartment & its location was ideal for our group of seven. We had already booked properties in 4 other locations for our trip & finding a place with 4 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms was extraordinary. No piles of people sleeping in the common spaces for this part of our trip. Hallelujah!
We arrived in Prague around 8:30pm; tired & hungry. We met the lovely Bogy at Cisty Stul restaurant & had a delicious meal. Since we were staying at the apartment upstairs, we were given a 20% discount on our meal. We were also provided with parking in a locked courtyard across the street.
After finishing our meal, Bogy took us up to the apartment. I will not lie, this part was a little sketchy. We entered through a very tall locked door from the sidewalk into a dark hallway and staircase. The concrete walls had been chunked out revealing all the electric wiring. The vibe was communist era, early 1980's. We went up 4 big flights & Bogy let us in to the apartment.
Our mouths dropped open. The apartment is spectacular. Newly refinished, the listing does not begin to describe the reality. There are hardwood floors throughout. Towering ceilings...perhaps 20' high. Huge windows.Very tall, wooden double doors between each room. Four very large spacious bedrooms with windows in each & comfortable beds. Two full newly remodeled bathrooms. A beautiful, modern, almost commercial style kitchen with lots of seating & plenty of kitchenware for a large group. Absolutely spectacular.
For this trip our group stayed in 7 different locations; in a mix of hotels & private homes. While most were great & completely adequate, this apartment was a truly extraordinary experience. We could not help but wonder about the history of the building & of our apartment. Who had lived here during the different political regimes in Prague history? We would love to know.
As for location, amazing...streetcars run continually on the street below the apartment. We walked roughly a mile circuit & went through the main tourist sections of Old Praha, over Charles Bridge & back to the apartment.
Having Cisty Stul restaurant available to us was an unexpected bonus. A free delicious breakfast every morning and excellent dinners at night; all within a few feet of our front door.
