My grandparents moved to West Seattle in 1948...so I have roots that go way back. Alki beach was my playground and my sons grew up here as well.
The Junction, as we locals call it, has wonderful shops and restaurants as well as a fantastic farmers market.
Lori Wright purchased this cottage in 2006

Well stocked kitchen. Lovely back yard. Quite street
I stayed at Lori's cottage for a week while in Seattle. She was extremely responsive and her home is very inviting and comfortable. Very clean and every detailed covered. The location is ideal in West Seattle, within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and parks. My absolute favorite feature is the outdoor space. Private yard with hot tub, fire pit, and such a serene peaceful vibe that fills the area. A truly peaceful place overall. I will definitely return to her home the next time I am in Seattle. Well done Lori!!
We enjoyed our week long stay in this charming cottage. It was a short drive into the city (considering Seattle traffic!) and conveniently located to everything we wanted to visit. The small local community offered many unique cafes and coffeehouses.
Rented this quaint home for a week while in town for a wedding. Two bedrooms worked well for my husband and I, our son, daughter-in-law and 1 yr old grandchild. As promised, Lori had a pack n play, and booster high chair that worked perfectly for our granddaughter. She also has a baby jogger which we didn't need since we had our own stroller. We took daily walks around the quiet neighborhood and enjoyed several nearby restaurants. Lori has supplied this cottage well; we cooked a few meals without problems. Beds were comfortable. We never ran out of hot water despite 4 adults taking showers and using the washer and dryer frequently. Location was perfect, easy drive to downtown Seattle and we parked in the driveway or in front of the house with no problems. Enjoyed our stay.
I rented this cottage on the behalf of my parents and the three of us were immediately enamored with it! It is a comfortable, bright, organized, spacious, well maintained and fresh property with all the amenities one would need for a relaxing stay. The backyard with paver stones, lush green vegetation and sun spots is added plus. My parents started each day outside with their coffee and newspapers, then we closed the day with wine and laughter under the northwest stars.
This neighborhood is a historic one ideal for walking and wandering adventures. Close to shops, grocery stores, restaurants, parks and coffee spots, visitors have an array of exploring options all within 5-10 minutes of this home.
My parents plan to return to this cottage for their annual visit moving forward. My mom would like to return even sooner with her gal pals for a ladies getaway.
Thank you, Lori, for a wonderful week in your gorgeous home!
The Green Cottage was perfect for the two of us - absolutely clean, comfortable and welcoming. We used the back garden as much as the inside, enjoying the cool breezes and lovely plantings. It is so private that you forget you are in a neighborhood - but when the neighbors do come out you can hear them since the yards are so close. The kitchen was stocked with anything you'd need for any kind of cooking. Since we were there for two weeks we did a combination of going out, bringing meals in and cooking 'at home'. Lori had even provided cloth shopping bags for our trips to Safeway, PCC and Metropolitan Market. We used both the Keurig and the French Press coffee makers. And we used both the air conditioning and the heat - both very briefly as the weather changed abruptly. John used the bike to go collect our take out order one night and to check out the neighborhood. The bathroom was lovely with new tile and accessories contrasting with the well loved antiques in the house. It was great to have the washer/dryer and she even supplied the detergent and softener sheets! We used the wifi every day to plan trips, look up information and check in with friends on Facebook.
We applied for reduced rate ORCA cards before we arrived and used all the various public transportation to get around instead of renting a car. It is a 10 min walk down to the bus stop but I loved looking in all the yards and gardens along the way. We went to picnic concerts at the park, Food Festivals around town, the wonderful Farmer's Market on Sunday and the usual tourist sights but were always happy to come home at the end of the day. Thanks Lori, for making our stay so comfortable. My only suggestion is to put a hanging rod in the back bedroom closet and some storage so adults can unpack and settle in. The front bedroom is perfect and the duvets on all the beds so cozy and pretty.
Handford and Hinds cottage is located in the quiet neighborhood of West Seattle which makes it a great launching pad for any Northwest adventures. Hiking, biking, shopping, golfing, theater, concerts, dining, kid activities, museums, whale watching, boating, dancing, and more... the list goes on and on!
