About the property

Rustic 1927 Estes Home With Four Bedrooms, 3 Baths And Continental Divide Views

Estes Park Business License: #6050.

Alpentraum, (Mountain Dream) was built in 1927 and has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and is a rare example of 'Old Estes Architecture'. Enjoy the mountain views and wildlife from the sunroom, dining room and kitchen, family room and deck. There is a screen porch game room that overlooks the Big Thompson River. The master bedroom has a king bed and is on the main floor, with a full bath. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms. there is a bedroom with 2 twin beds, a bedroom with a queen bed, and a bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds. A 3/4 bath services the upstairs. Under the main floor, there is a separate 'maid's quarters', with a bunk bed and a 3/4 bath. This 'apartment' is the teenagers favorite. The house overlooks the Big Thompson River, and, various game trails cross the property. Please be aware that there are bears, elk, mountain lions, deer, bobcats, coyotes and other critters that live on the mountain.

We have a gourmet kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. The kitchen was updated with new appliances (except the stove/oven) and new cooking pots, pans, utensils, dishes, flatware, stemware, etc. in 2013.

All beds, except the queen bed, were replaced in 2013.

We have wireless Internet. Not all cell phones work well in the mountains.

If you need a master suite, with whirlpools, bidets, granite and marble, towel warmers and bathrobes, this is probably not your place. If you like rustic, ambiance and want to be awed, this probably is your place. The bottom line, this is a very comfortable home that has all that Estes was, is, and will be.

Perfect place for our family!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Alpentraum in Estes Park. It worked out perfectly for my wife and I and our three adult children. Plenty of room- we were each able able to have our own bedroom. The house is wonderful - a rustic mountain feel but with all the modern conveniences like cable and wi-fi. It is well equipped with everything you would ever need. Perfect location- far enough to feel like you are out of town but close enough if we needed to run into Estes for something. Enjoyed watching the elk walking through the front yard. We loved sitting on the patio in the evening watching the sun go down over the mountains. Beautiful views from the kitchen table also. The property manager, Donna, was great. She made sure that everything was just right for our stay. The bottle of wine and the RMNP pass were a bonus gift! Thanks for making it a wonderful family vacation. We will definitely be back for another visit!

Great vintage cabin with all of the modern amenities!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay in Estes Park and a great part of that was due to the wonderful property we rented while there - Alpentraum!

This house is an inviting, comfortable place to come back to after a long day of hiking and exploring the RMNP. We made use of all it had to offer in the evenings; games, tv, piano playing/singing, ping pong, foosball - you name it...we enjoyed it. The menfolk even taught us girls how to play Texas Hold'em! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed to prepare anything from snacks to a gourmet meal. The bedrooms were very comfortable and it was obvious that great care had been taken to make sure everything provided was of a superior quality. We enjoyed mornings and evenings with a fabulous mountain view and even got to see the first mountain snow of the season come in from the warmth and comfort of the viewing room! Turning into the driveway on our very last full day in EP we were greeted by a large bull Elk and his harem who were using the yard for a daytime nap - this was truly amazing! These animals are beyond beautiful and it was so interesting to get to see them up close - but not too close! :) Overall - we would highly recommend renting Alpentraum - it is a comfortable, family friendly place to get to come back to after your adventures in EP and the RMNP.

Great base camp!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Alpentraum! It was exactly what we'd hoped and even a little better; with comfy beds, a well appointed kitchen, completely charming rooms and decor, great views, and with a great location, close to the park and walking distance to town. Donna was helpful and responded quickly to any questions. All wonderful!!!

Fabulous home in Estes Park

  • 5 of 5

Our family has been vacationing every year in Estes Park for 25 years. This year we stayed at the Alpentraum and we all agreed this is the best place we have ever stayed at. The house is unbelievably beautiful with spaces for all kinds of activities. We cook most meals together and the kitchen is extremely well equipped and works well for those who love to cook as a group. The patio is lovely and allowed us to spend lots of time outside together. We saw deer, elk, rabbits, chipmunks, and lots of birds on a daily basis on the property. The property is close to downtown but located in a place that allows you to get to RMNP and other places in Estes without having to drive through the downtown heavy traffic areas. We have already booked the Alpentraum for next summer and can't wait to be there again. We have gotten to know Donna and Lloyd over the years and they have always taken care of us well! Peaceful, comfortable and relaxing with beautiful views of the Rockies.

  • 5 of 5

We loved Alpentraum it felt like home as soon as we walked in. It was the perfect place to use as home base after a day in Rocky Mountain National Park.

There was a lovely gift basket with wine, ingredients for a pasta dinner, RMNP pass, Estes park discounts and bath samples waiting for us upon our arrival.

It was fun to explore this beautiful home with it's quirky character. We spent several hours cooking in the well stocked kitchen ( it has every utensil, pot & pans, and appliances you could ever need) played ping pong and cards out in the game room and watched the sunrise and set on the mountains in the view room.

The beds were very comfortable (would have liked one more double or queen sized bed) the bathrooms had plenty of towels and was supplied with shampoo, soap and a hairdryer if needed. There was a nice washer and dryer in the maid's quarters that is accessible with an outside door. A grill and lovely patio round out the amenities.

The walk to the door can be a tricky as it is a little steep and uneven in places however my 78 year old mother-in-law did well with a little help.

Do not let this discourage you from such a lovely place to call your "home away from home"

Looking forward to returning in the future.

Wonderful mountain "lodge" experience.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the home which is located on the edge of Estes, across from a stream and with dramatic views of Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park.

The home is historic yet with all modern amenities and comforts and plenty of space for games (the non-electronic type!), reading, relaxing and enjoying the peace and beauty of the spot.

One evening during dinner we even had a herd of 18 female elk and their calves pass through the front lawn which was an incredible experience for the entire family! We would love to return one day to this property!!

Owner's Response: Hi Jessica, Thanks for the great review! Seeing the elk is not uncommon at the Alpentraum along with other wild life. We look forward to your return! Warm Regards, Donna & Lloyd Property Managers
