Rustic 1927 Estes Home With Four Bedrooms, 3 Baths And Continental Divide Views
Alpentraum, (Mountain Dream) was built in 1927 and has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and is a rare example of 'Old Estes Architecture'. Enjoy the mountain views and wildlife from the sunroom, dining room and kitchen, family room and deck. There is a screen porch game room that overlooks the Big Thompson River. The master bedroom has a king bed and is on the main floor, with a full bath. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms. there is a bedroom with 2 twin beds, a bedroom with a queen bed, and a bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds. A 3/4 bath services the upstairs. Under the main floor, there is a separate 'maid's quarters', with a bunk bed and a 3/4 bath. This 'apartment' is the teenagers favorite. The house overlooks the Big Thompson River, and, various game trails cross the property. Please be aware that there are bears, elk, mountain lions, deer, bobcats, coyotes and other critters that live on the mountain.
We have a gourmet kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. The kitchen was updated with new appliances (except the stove/oven) and new cooking pots, pans, utensils, dishes, flatware, stemware, etc. in 2013.
All beds, except the queen bed, were replaced in 2013.
We have wireless Internet. Not all cell phones work well in the mountains.

Lovely home! Yesteryear with modern amenities.
This place was everything we wanted and more than we ever expected! Full of warmth, charm, and character from the minute we walked in. The owners had a lovely welcome for our group - a basket on the kitchen counter with wine and pasta. The bathrooms and laundry had all the necessary supplies provided. Enough extra blankets for each bedroom. The ping-pong and foos ball tables were an added bonus and gave us some entertainment after the hiking, fishing, horseback riding, golfing and shopping! (Estes Park had plenty to offer.) We had 3 accomplished chefs in our group and they were not lacking for dishes, pans or cooking utensils. The retro stove was icing on the cake. Unique furnishings and stained glass light fixtures made the house extraordinary. Railing on the staircase was exceptional! I expected that an older home could be cold and drafty...not this place. Warm and cozy!!! The sunporch was our favorite room - with an incredible view - and was a good place to gather. Outside we had ample space for parking our 3 vehicles and plenty of privacy on the property. A nice deck area off the kitchen was large and comfortable. Several huge elk walked through the property and dined in the yard while we watched from this overlook. We highly recommend this one-of-kind, classic mountain home!!!
Great cabin with great views of the mountains. Loved the outdoor fireplace and grill.
We loved the cabin and the location. Couldn't have found a better place. Will definitely be coming back.
This house was fabulous!
The house was in a beautiful setting and beautiful inside. It really made us feel like we were in the mountains yet very close to town and to the entrance of the Rocky Mountain National Park. The house was clean and we'll kept. The kitchen was well stocked with every utensel we needed to cook a great meal. A bull elk was in the side yard our first night there. The second day, three mule deer spent a day in the yard. We will return next year!
It was special to have you and your family stay with us. Glad you saw the elk and deer....but no bear experiences! LOL.
We look forward to your return!!

Great place to relax as a family!
We stayed here on a family vacation with our 3 children, my parents and my sister, and there was enough space for us all. The kids loved playing ping pong and Foosball out on the screen in porch, and there was so much room for us all.
Beautifully Maintained Cabin with Lots of Fun Things to Do
We had a wonderful time here in the mountains. The layout of the bedrooms worked perfectly for our group (family with kids upstairs, grandparents on the main floor, and another guest in the maid's quarters downstairs). It wasn't specifically stated, but there is no interior access to the basement bedroom, bath, and laundry. There was enough seating for all of us in the dining room as we looked out for elk and deer during breakfast. The foosball table was so much fun for everyone and even had telescoping rods so the little kids didn't get poked!
The property managers were great as well. When we ran out of gas on the grill, they were there in 5 minutes with another tank. Very responsive service! They have also added an old piano that we got to play on together too. What a treat. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay!
Thanks for taking time to leave this great review! It's special to hear how much you and your family enjoyed your trip to RMNP and the Alpentraum.
Kids always enjoy the game room and glad you mentioned playing the piano! Our owners think of all the "extras" to make it a special stay for their guests.
Be sure to come back when your plans bring you this way again!
Make each day count,

Great Mountain Views and Rustic Feel with Modern Amenities
This was our first VRBO and we picked the right one. The property and home was beautiful and classic. The hosts made us feel welcome. Just a short drive to downtown Estes and RMNP. Great Mountain View. Our kids loved climbing on the rocks behind the property. We heard coyotes and saw, elk, deer and even an early morning black bear. You are across the road from the river but the screened in porch is a great place to grab a cocktail while listening to the river rush b. Donna, the manger, gave clear and welcoming instructions and left us with a special surprise. Thanks to the owners for opening their home to us. We will be back.
Close to Rocky Mountain National Park, Downtown Estes Park and National Forest, there is an abundance of activities in the area. Our rustic home is an ideal place to explore the surrounding area.
