2 family vacation
This cabin in out in the middle of no where, which was quiet and wonderful. The cabin was spacious and had plenty of room for both our families. The loft was small but the 10 year old boy loved sleeping up in the loft area. Would consider renting this cabin again when we come back to visit the inlaws that live in Hackensack Mn.
This cabin and property is a great vacation spot alone to relax, walk the trails, enjoy wildlife, play yard games, enjoy an outdoor fire and BBQ but also has so much to offer within a close distance. Shops, antique shops, restaurants- a few to mention are the Iron Horse Bar and Grill in Nevis, The Lucky Moose Bar and Grill, Bensons and Chase Bar and grill in Walker.Forest Edge Winery is 23 miles away. Stop in to sample wines or sit out on the patio to enjoy a glass of wine. Look for their Art Fair in August. Many town festivals being celebrated in the summer months. Theatres in the area include Jaspers Jubilee and the famous Wood Tic Theater in Akeley. Many golf courses including Headwaters country club, Fair Havens Golf Course, Eagles View Gold Course, Blueberry Pines Golf Course, and Bemidji Country Club to mention a few. The eleventh crow wing lake in Akeley and Birch Lake in Hackensak have public beaches as well as Leech Lake in Walker and the State Parks. Northern Minnesota is known for its great fishing (All year round). Guided fishing available in the area. Check out The Crow Wing Chain of lakes or Leech Lake. Eelpout Festival is a great time for all. This takes place on Leech Lake in February. There are ATV and snowmobile trails that can be accessed from our location. Check out the Round River ATV trail and the Martineau Trail that starts a few miles north of Akeley. We have two Beautiful State Parks within an hour of our home. About Sharon Beaudreau
This was a property my late husband and I owned for several years. When the property was first purchased it was in rough shape and we bought it solely for hunting land. After spending some time there we got a vision. With the help of our boys and many good friends we gutted it out, remodeled, added special touches doing most of the work ourselves and made it into what it is today. We moved up from the cities and our family lived there for a few years. My late husband Wade always called it a little piece of heaven which I truly believe it is. I am remarried now to my wonderful husband Joe. I have 3 grown boys. We still love to enjoy this property but want to share it with others when we are not using it. We also hope to use it for some ministry in the future as well.
Sharon Beaudreau purchased this House in 2002
Why Sharon Beaudreau chose Akeley
One winter we were taking to a friend about purchasing some hunting land. He told us of a property we had to see. It was more land than we were thinking about but we took the drive to see it. The snow was falling gently and we turned into the driveway which is about a quarter mile long. Going down the driveway was one of the most beautiful scenes I had ever seen. The trees were blanketed in snow, the snow was glistening in the head lights, and animal tracks were covering the driveway. At the end of the driveway was a log home overlooking a beautiful frozen pond. The home had so much character even in the shape it was in. The logs were hand peeled and logged from the property. The home was built in 1980. I am very visionary and knew this had so much potential. Soon it was not just hunting land we were purchasing, it was a place we were going to make home. Those memories are very precious to me and I am very grateful to have this place. I hope you will come spend time here and enjoy it as well. It is very comfortable and has a beauty of its own. The views are breathtaking and there are so many things to do in the area. After busy days, it is a great place to relax and spend quiet time cherishing memories and reflecting on what each of us have. Life is truly a Blessing.
What makes this House unique
One of my favorite things about this place is the location. I love the privacy and Beautiful views of the trees and pond and all the wild life. It is absolutely beautiful all year long. From the budding of all the trees and the new life in the spring, to the abundant fun summer activities and relaxing evening fires, to fall where the colors are spectacular and it is nearing hunting season. It is truly a winter wonderland. A cozy place to snuggle in and enjoy a fire, read, spend family time and enjoy winter activities. The trails throughout the property are great for snow shoeing, cross country skiing and viewing wildlife. Many ice fishing lakes and snowmobile trails close by and easy to access. Buena Vista Ski resort located in Bemidji for some family fun of down hill skiing and snow tubing. The custom log work and the stone fireplace in this home are beautiful and inviting. I am always drawn to the four season porch to look at the beautiful view of the pond and surrounding wooded area. I love to see all the wildlife. There is a large beaver dam in the middle of the pond. We often see ducks and geese, eagles, deer, wild turkey, and bear. The many trails throughout the property also call to me. It is great exercise and I love to explore nature and view wildlife. It is a great area for photography and bird watching. When we finished the basement I wanted something unique. I did not want it to feel like a basement. This lower level is amazing and comfortable. It also has a lot of room and is a great place to gather or have some personal space. There are small birch trees used in the finishing work. There is a matching custom entertainment center and bar in the family room. Windows are large so that the light can come in. Furniture is comfortable. It is a great space to have some separation or quiet time if you have large groups.
