This beach house is located within the Ebey's Reserve National Reserve Park area and is situated on the west side of Whidbey Island on its own private beach. The home is in the middle of the Keystone Spit in a national park adjacent to Fort Casey State Park, yet the Beach House is just four miles from the historic town of Coupeville, a Red Apple grocery store and Whidbey General Hospital. The home is surrounded on three sides by public property and only has three neighbors to the west. This home is not stacked and packed into a large development of beach houses but instead is part of a small in-holding within and between State and National park areas. You will really enjoy the privacy.

You can relax in 2800 + square feet of comfort in this fully equipped home. The large private fenced backyard goes almost all the way to the high tide line of Puget Sound. Since several people have asked, our property is on the water and it is private waterfront. There is over 2 miles of State owned beach to the east of us, but it is pretty quiet and rarely used. An adjustable forced air heating system will keep you warm in the winter and the AC will keep you cool in the summer.

Enjoy wonderful water, mountain, and shipping views from almost every room in the house. A huge deck with 42 inch 1/4 inch thick safety glass walls is perfect for dinner and drinks. We are immediately adjacent to almost two miles of publicly owned 'Ebey's Reserve' beach so our location feels very private. Puget Sound is due south and the Lake Crockett bird refuge is due north across the street, so there is a lot of water views in almost all directions. There are so many different views of the site that you should request a link to more photos so you can get a better idea.

One of our favorite views is to the west right before sunset of the Colonel's house in old Fort Casey.

The Beach House is only a five minute (flat) walk to the Keystone Ferry with service to Port Townsend! The ferry leaves from very close by and lands right in the heart of the waterfront of the beautiful town of Port Townsend, so no car is needed to enjoy the fine restaurants, shopping, and other amenities available there.

Outdoor activities abound here with fantastic salmon fishing and crabbing, wonderful kayaking, para-sailing and world class diving from our backyard. The public boat launch is next to the ferry terminal and is less than one minute by car. The home is bounded by Ebey's Reserve Park to the east, Puget Sound on the south, and Crockett Lake on the north across Highway 20. Whidbey Island is the home of Naval Air Station Oak Harbor. The aircraft, ships, subs, and parachutists can appear at anytime.

This smoke-free home is located in the middle of the main waterfowl flyway of Whidbey Island. For you runners, the distance around the lake is 5.6 miles. An excellent training area for both running and biking. A wise choice for the family that wishes to be close to the cities, but maintain their privacy.

This home is 90 minutes from Seattle (including Ferry) and 75 minutes from Bellingham by car. Air Travel can be arranged with Kenmore Air 866 435 9524.

The Beach House is equipped for 8 persons in four separate and quiet bedrooms with one bedroom being kid friendly in 'boat' beds along. There is also one additional semi private sleeping area not including the great room with a King sized Murphy bed. One of the ground floor rooms with a king bed also has a large window seat that can also be utilized as a sleeping area.

The home has DSL internet and a wireless router for easy use by guests. DishTV service is provided on at least 2 TV's along with Netflix. We also have a gym quality LifeFitness 9500 Elliptical training machine.

About Tom Schwab

We are busy professionals in Seattle (mom is a pediatrician at Ballard Pediatrics and dad is a mortgage banker at Westwood Mortgage) and we wanted to find a place out of the city for our family. Our boys love the beach (don't all kids) and Whidbey Island is beautiful with the peacefulness of the San Juan Islands but with nearby services like a Hospital right up the road.

Since we are very busy and can't get up to this property as much as we desire, we have chosen to share this home with you. We hope you can create some great memories with yoru friends and family like we do.

This home is located in a small sliver of private property of 7 homes surrounded by park property, wildlife refuge, a Washington State Ferry Terminal (Coupeville to Pt. Townsend), an underwater dive park (Keystone Underwater Park) and both fresha nd salt water. So, how often can you buy a beach house inside of a Park? Central Whidbey and Ebey's Reserve is like the San Juan Islands without the 5+ hour journey and lack of services. Our relatively isolated home sits within the Ebey's Landing National Reserve Park and feels a lot further away than 1.5 hours from Seattle. There is great Salmon fishing right on our beach. Our house is on the east end of the seven homes and it is adjacent to over two miles of State of Washington owned beach and park area.

What makes this house unique

Wonderful walks on the beach collecting beach glass and various other things that wash ashore, piles of driftwood, sunrises and sunsets, happy islanders, and a generally relaxed feeling. We can't get enough. Our family and friends love to visit. This house is not scrunched up against a long row of homes, you can have some quiet privacy. Beautiful and spacious waterfront home

We had a wonderful stay at your home. The updates in the kitchen and great room are beautiful. We really appreciated how well stocked the kitchen was. Not only were there some pantry items, but plenty of cookware too. We enjoyed the fancy coffee maker too. There is plenty of sleeping space and a lot of bedding. We felt so lucky to get a perfect sunny day to spend at the beach. It’s a gorgeous spot. We would love to return again. Thank you for sharing your space with us.

Beautiful, spacious open floor plan home in a great location.

Our family of 5 booked this home to celebrate Thanksgiving and it far exceeded our expectations. The home was impeccably clean, thoughtfully appointed and everything functioned as it should. Even with the rain and high winds of November on Puget sound, the home stayed comfortably warm and dry. The open floor plan of the upper level was very comfortable, has a great view of the sound and is conducive to socializing.

Our daughter in law is a chef and found everything she needed and then some in the kitchen.

It was great.We will be back.

Beautiful beach house!

We spent 3 nights at the Keystone Beach House and enjoyed our time there. The owner (Tom) was very responsive to our questions throughout.

The beach house itself was very clean and well stocked w/ everything needed for a vacation. The main room is set up perfect for a larger group, and even on our rainy day we loved watching the traffic on the water. The setup of the main floor ensures that there is plenty of room to socialize for everyone.

Our kids absolutely loved the beach and running around in the big yard, and it was nice being able to walk to the Port Townsend Ferry with relative ease (or at least as much ease as one can have with two toddlers!). The basketball hoop on the sports court saw a lot of use, with some pretty poor basketball skills by all parties on display. Overall a great rental and one we would like to visit again.

Beautiful spot

The house was the perfect size for us, actually a little bigger than we needed. The beds were comfy and the kitchen had even more than we needed. The best thing was the location. The view was amazing. Because of the time of year(mid January) we could watch the sunrise and the sunset from the 180 degree view from the living room. We lucked out with nice weather. We also loved being able to walk on the ferry and have lunch and shop in Port Townsend. After the remold and painting that is going to be happening for the next few months this will definitely be a five star rental. The owner is very nice and accommodating. He sent a text asking if everything was okay. I'd love to go back with my grandkids next time.

DIY Project Gone Wrong

I wish I could say better things about our stay because the property manager was great to work with and even let us arrive a day early. HOWEVER, the house itself was an older, fixer-upper that the owners have made their personal DIY project... and it hasn't gone well. All but one of the bedrooms are on the lower level down one hall that has been added on to the original structure and has no bathroom. There is only ONE bathroom (which was somewhere in the middle of being redone) for all of these bedrooms to share and then oddly (awkwardly) another bathroom on the upper level all the way at the other end of the house, meaning long lines for the one downstairs or an awkward traipse through the entire house to take a shower right next to the kitchen and common areas. Our bedroom had exposed duct work hanging from the ceiling and light fixtures at random places in the middle of the walls. The kids' bedroom, which was supposed to have two trundles was not even large enough to have both trundles pulled out at the same time. The kitchen was old and dirty, flecks of paint and wood covering all of the pots and pans when we took them out. Paint was also chipping off of every surface on the exterior of the house, giving it quite a run-down look. And then there was the MOUSE, long dead, that the kids found next to the TV downstairs. Gross in and of itself but also made me wonder how thorough a cleaning the place ever got if this mouse was never even noticed. Also had trouble with the wifi connection, which had to be reset several times. We made the best out of the whole situation but overall, cannot recommend.

Wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at the Beachhouse

The beach house was perfect for our weekend. Adults had the main level for watching football, playing board games and enjoying the view. Kids enjoyed having lots of space downstairs. Nice big comfy beds and the kitchen worked well for cooking the turkey dinner. Beach time was limited because of the stormy weather. Would definitely consider staying here again.

Walk the beach to collect drift wood and what else shows up, building fort with the driftwood, walking to the Keystone Cafe for great ice cream, extraordinary bird and ship watching, exploring Fort Casey State Park and watching rabbits scamper about. Other nearby attractions include wine tasting/winery tours, bike rides, cute historic town of Coupeville (2nd oldest City in Washington State). The home is an easy walk to Fort Casey State Park and the Washington State Ferry at Coupeville (Keystone) to the historic 'Victorian' town of Pt. Townsend and further to the Olympic Mountains and Hurricane Ridge. The Lake Crockett Wildlife Refuge/Bird Sanctuary is located immediately across the street to the north of our house and is great for birdwatching of Eagles, Owls, Herons, Sandpipers and a lot more.

The house faces the entrance to Puget Sound from the Strait of Juan De Fuca & Pacific Ocean and ALL shipping traffic passes right in front of the house.

Great restaurants in Coupeville include 'The Oyster Catcher' open from Wednesday to Sunday and 'Christopher's' open 7 days per week. Please also try to drop in at 'Bayleaf' for great high end wine, cheeses, and specialty foodstuffs. The best espresso & coffee you will find is at the end of the Coupeville Wharf at 'Local Grown' opening by 6:30am. Ask for a 'mexican latte' which are fantastic and hot!
