About this property

Sparrow's Nest Charming Vintage Apartment with Bay Views

Discover this uniquely designed and beautifully, yet eclectically curated apartment home. If you adore whimsical decor, charming historical vibes, well-stocked amenities, and home-grown hospitality while adventuring on Oregon's southern coast, you've found the Sparrow's Nest for good reason!

With spoonfuls of magical character and many stories from it's 110 plus years, this unique gem has so much charm that you can feel it. Staying at the Sparrow's Nest is a truly divine experience!

The Sparrow's Nest second floor suite is accessed by a tall stairway, complete with authentic ship's railing. Rustic ship-lap walls are accented by soft and eclectic furnishings, vintage pieces, and artwork.

Charming rustic-chic decor with comfy linens, fluffy towels, treats, coffee, tea, and first morning's continental breakfast, among other amenities to make your travels feel like home.

Check out the vintage kitchen with well-supplied, modern amenities: everything one needs to whip up a batch of Sunday morning pancakes, and more! Delightful touches such as the double drainboard cast iron sink, open shelving, and no fewer than four different ways to make a hot cuppa Joe (French Press, percolator, drip, and of course coffee maker...or there are two charming coffee shops within walking distance!) compliment the uniqueness that is the Sparrow's Nest.

Discover the original butler's pantry, now the Secret Library, which has a lovely and diverse collection of books from local history, sightseeing, and maritime lore to interior design, fiction, and a darling array of children's books for guests to peruse, enjoy, and curl around during their stay.

Two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, two twin folding floor mattresses, a sofa and love seats for petite guests in the living room are able to comfortably accommodate a myriad of sleeping arrangements. Deciding who gets to sleep in the lace-draped canopy bed, or the Paper Art Room with enchanting classical art prints may be coin-toss worthy!

Eastern bay views of the water can be enjoyed from the living and dining areas. Sunrises over the bay can be spectacular.

Walk to theaters, shopping, restaurants, pubs, and parks; a 15 minute-drive to beaches, sandy toes, and sand castles!

When inquiring for a reservation, please feel free to explain what brings you to the area, how many are in your party, if you'll be bringing pets (and if so, what kind), and lastly acknowledge that you are aware of the tall staircase, urban noise, and property rules. Many thanks!

*Apartment is on the second floor of historical building, so there is a tall staircase of approximately 20+ steps upon entry.

*Being that the Sparrow's Nest is located downtown, city sounds such as traffic, among others, are inherent and unavoidable in an urban setting.

*Respectful nudes, as well as cultural images are present in the artwork inside of the Sparrow's Nest.

*While we do our sincere utmost to maintain meticulous standards of cleanliness, the space may contain allergens, including those of pets and gluten, among others, inherent in a vintage and historical building. Please communicate any special needs or requests prior to your arrival, that we may do our best to make your stay as convenient and comfortable as possible.

Home Rules:

*There are two parking spaces in the front of the blue building, and 3 parking spaces behind the sand-colored apartment building that you may park in. Parking behind the sand-colored building can be tight for larger, or full-sized vehicles, though we regularly accommodate minivans and smaller trucks back there. It is up to your own discretion, risk, and comfortability to decide where you would like to park. For larger vehicles, I recommend parking in one of the two parking spaces in front of the blue building when they are available. Parking is not assigned, and there is one space per suite, so your party is allowed one space only. If you happen to have multiple vehicles or guests with vehicles during your stay, they are welcome to park up the street, or in the free city parking spaces.

*Please inquire prior to bringing pets. Breed restrictions apply per insurance requirements. Well-behaved pets are welcome. We just ask that pets are on a leash at all times when outside, and that owners are diligent about picking up pet waste. There may also be other pets on the property with whose owners I have the same expectations. Pets should be attended at all times.

*No smoking/vaping of tobacco or cannabis products indoors. Both are legal in Oregon, and you are welcome to step outside, off and away from the property to enjoy.

*While families with children are welcomed, please know that there are potential safety risks, and children should be attended to at all times.

*For the sake of our guests, quiet hours are maintained between 8pm and 8am.

*Please do not cook crab, seafood, or other highly odoriferous foods inside of the home space as the smells are incredibly difficult to remove.

*These are shoe-free homes. Please curl your toes around the soft rugs and make yourselves cozy. This eliminates so much dirt from entering the place, especially in the wet months on the coast. Thanks for understanding!

My name is Shayla, and I am overjoyed to be your hostess during your stay on Oregon’s south coast. Born and raised in North Bend, just a few blocks away, this is my hometown, and I adore sharing it with my cherished guests. Having grown up on the Oregon coast, I offer visitors a charming combination of hostess and concierge through a hearty menu of recommendations, including dining options for varied palates, local events, as well as absolute must-see local attractions. Feel free to VRBO message me anytime for tips on local bites and must-see sites.

With a passion for hosting and interior design, welcoming guests to my home spaces on VRBO is a true pleasure. My styles are eclectic with a thick blend of textures and colors that come together through intuition and feeling more than textbook design standards. Inspired by vintage interiors, the brighter colors of nature, and art, senses are enlightened among the heart-felt curations while yet preserving space for practical living movements. Staying with us is a true experience!

I wish for all of my guests to enjoy these spaces as much as I enjoy creating them. Every detail has been considered to ensure that travelers feel more like they are visiting the cozy home of a friend, rather than just another bland hotel room. Hosting through VRBO is a delightful honor, and I hope to share my homes with those who feel intrigued, led, and inspired to stay within their cozy walls.

Warmly,
Shayla
