About this property

Dome Sweet Dome at Antietam. Relax, Naturally! Relax, Naturally!

You found it!
There is NO ONE like us. We are locals, veteran & woman owned & managed.
Simply the newest, most comfortable & accessible rental, in the perfect place.
Luxuriate on the gorgeous paver patio on Adirondack Chairs, soaking in gorgeous sunsets over the Potomac River where it meets Antietam Creek. Savor morning coffee (we stock coffee & teas) as you watch the sun rise over Elk Ridge. Even in winter, we have over 25 species of native birds, & our meadows of milkweed mean tons of butterflies.
Cozy up on our luxurious LayZBoy recliner couch, in front of the E-fireplace, & watch what you want on the 50” smart TV.
Charge your EV- we have the only charger in the area.
Our beautiful paver patio is surrounded by naturalist Emily’s curated native plant garden, & the fire pit has a safe & easy Solo Stove insert, basic firewood & kindling supplied. We have bicycle parking, air pump, & covers (free).
Two queen beds with fresh linens, fluffy hotel pillows, cozy blankets & blackout curtains let you rest up, for adventures.
The Great Room faces South for passive solar heating, & unmatched light, to show off Emily’s photography, or illuminate your own sketches.
The kitchen is all new, thoughtfully equipped for real cooking- or just use the convection toaster oven to reheat that pizza for breakfast.
We do not use chemical air fresheners, dryer sheets or smelly chemicals- except for small amounts of we MicroBan & antibacterial cleaners, to ensure the safety of our guests. All towels & linens are new. Mattresses & pillows are treated to resist bedbug infestation, including bug-proof covers. We’ve never had a problem with them, thankfully, but our approach is proactive.

You can go hiking, bicycle riding, kayaking, do some superb bird & nature watching, or just want to get away from the city, this is it. Designed for comfort & efficiency, the metal Quonset dome nestled in the Potomac Highlands is a short stroll from the C&O Canal or Antietam Creek access. Antietam Battlefield is 2 miles North, Harpers Ferry 10 miles South. Shepherdstown is just across the Potomac. Bring your bikes & use our racks, you can rent bikes from us, or Pedal & Paddle in Sheptown. We rent float tubes as well, so you can have a relaxing float down the creek (weather permitting).
Two queen beds, 1.5 baths, big open indoor & outdoor spaces. All new linens & towels, low fragrance (no stinky air fresheners, just essential oils, ion air filters, & fresh air!
The full kitchen makes it easy to whip up meals, we have spices, oils, coffee & tea. There may be farm noise, there is a drive cam, & we are 10 minutes walk to natural water.
No smoking or vaping on the property, no pets inside or out. Yes, we are very strict about it.

We live close by, & love this area, its history, & the biodiversity it offers. Please consider supporting this small local business, & our greater community, by renting with us directly. AB&B charges 15.5%, VRBO 5%. You can find us on Google, & Crewdogs, a site for & by military folks. Our site offers discounts for LEO/first responders, conservation volunteers, & martial artists. Thank you for thinking local!

Loved the area. House was very clean and the host were very polite. The water has a very foul odor from the well, but that is not within the host control so everything else was excellent.

Locally owned by disabled Veteran Chuck, & Emily, a lifelong naturalist who grew up in Austin, Texas. She & Chuck met doing martial arts, & have lived in Indiana, & Bavaria together. Chuck served in the US Army, then as a DOD civilian. Emily is a Fascial Fitness trainer, & mechanic for the human body, trained in Rolfing® structural integration & osteopathic manual technique, in Germany & the US. If you would like a "trail tuneup" a Fascial Fitness session (we provide mats & foam rollers) or nature & bird walk, let us know (subject to availability).
The property has been Emily's experiment, since 2015. You may notice that there is less underbrush, & there are a lot of small trees in cages (built by Chuck). The land is "in rehab" systematically suppressing invasive olive, honeysuckle & Ailanthus. Emily also sprays poison ivy & ragweed (can't get all of it, so be careful!). Chuck mows paths, & the clear area to the East of the rental, the rest we leave in meadow, for butterflies, birds & pollinators. Many of the young trees are white oak, a keystone species long missing from the local ecosystem. There are wild black raspberry & honeysuckle vines, as well as lemon balm, thyme & sage plants, for use in drinks, & cooking.
