Why Nina chose La Cité-Limoilou
Maison Versailles is a historic French - Victorian home built by a famous Architect. Heliodorus Laberge gave a neo-Romanesque look at this property using arches highlighted by a brick contrasting color. The corner tower, pierced by a group of three small windows, and the porch enclosed by arches are also references to the medieval romance. It was owned by Séminaire de Québec appointed by the King of France and than the french aristocrats. It is next to a large urban park on Plains of Abraham commemorating the battles of 1759 and 1760. where the french lost Quebec to the English. Officially recognized by UNESCO in 1985 as a world heritage city. A 3 minute walk and parallel to the historic Plains of Abraham & St. Lawrence River and in downtown Old Quebec City. Grande Allee also known as the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the most famous street in Paris, France. With its cinemas, cafés, luxury specialty shops and clipped horse-chestnut trees, the Champs-Élysées is la plus belle avenue du monde ('the most beautiful avenue in the world').

Great location, hosts were easily accessible and accommodating since we arrived late. David provided us great recommendations and highlighted everything on a local map. Beautiful original home with everything we needed for a great stay. Thank you Nina
We are delighted you had a great stay and enjoyed Suite Versailles.
It was a pleasure to receive you!
You are most welcome.
Quebec City girls weekend
We loved our stay here! The house decor is gorgeous and the location is very central. Nina and Chris were also both very nice and accommodating!
We are delighted you loved your stay, the house and location. Thank you for sharing your experience.
It was a pleasure to receive you!
Fabulous Christmas in Suite Versailles
We spent a week in Suite Versailles over Christmas. Seven adults and two young children. We had a fantastic time despite the very cold weather. The Suite was very warm. We enjoyed the location being close to the big park for snow fun and reasonable walks to the old town and some great local shops and restaurants. The management were very accommodating. This was a once off white Christmas for our group of Australians and we would highly recommend both the experience and the apartment to others.
It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay at Suite Versailles!
It certainly was a white Christmas, on the cold side this year but very beautiful. Thank you for your review and it would be a pleasure to have you stay with when you are in Quebec City again.
Could be great!
This house has amazing potential, and the upstairs, which has been mostly redone is very nice. However, with the exception of the hardwood floors, the main floor is not done. While it is a charming 19th century home, for the price we paid, I expected better conditions, including the furniture. The owners are very nice and hospitable, but I want to offer my honest opinion about the property. Some day this could be spectacular.
The location is good if you don't mind a healthy walk to Old Quebec.
Yes the house is quite spectacular. We are glad you enjoyed the renovations upstairs, it was a big project indeed as we like to keep the originality of the home.
The main floor was the next stage and we are at present working on it. We use November as a time to renovate and restore bigger projects so the work has begun. The furniture has been ordered and will be placed once the restoration has been completed.
Thank you for your feedback and perhaps if you visit again, you can see the restored version of this charming house.
Great location, but a tired, old house
Seven of us (three couples and a single) rented this suite for three nights in Quebec City. The owner Nina was wonderful to work with throughout the process, and the young concierge Chris greeted us with a friendly smile as well as an abundance of good information about the house and the area.
However, this once-stately home is in need of some serious maintenance and updating. Stained and faded wallpaper, peeling paint, slanted stairs, bathrooms which only moderately serve their purposes, and a kitchen that needs help lead us to decide that we would not stay here again. Most concerning to us were the electrical issues: not enough light to read by, updates that had wires stapled to the walls, and, in one case, a switch that seemed to be held together with electrical tape and a prayer.
We were all surprised to find that one of the bedrooms could only be accessed by traipsing through another one. We made it clear from the beginning the composition of the group, but never once was it mentioned that the bedroom situation might make it uncomfortable for those who had the two bedrooms impacted by this awkward connection. As the single, I was going to sleep on the couch to avoid encumbering one of the couples, but, luckily, we are good friends and we worked out the details as to who would be impacted the least.
It is rare to accommodate a large group in the heart of Quebec in a beautiful Spacious Victorian house and at a great price, and this you had. You could walk, visit and enjoy. Chris asked how your visit was and you said you enjoyed it. We are glad you enjoyed the location.
Your comments are an exaggeration and not a reflection of the reality at all. Most of the house has been beautifully restored and has been certified by Commission de la construction du Quebec, therefore electricity and stairs are safe along with all other areas.
We keep continuing to restore this magnificent home. The two rooms left to restore are the living and dining room which will be worked on before the end of this year, yet they still carry their charm in their present state. The original tapestry on these walls will be maintained because of our love for history. I am not sure what you mean by your comment on the washrooms as we have 2 full bathrooms and we show pictures of them on the site. It is truly disappointing and surprising to read that you are not able to appreciate the history, authenticity and the care that has been taken to restore the house. All our guest reviews show their great appreciation for this home.
In reference to the light switch, what you saw was a 100 year old casing that has been lost and was in the process to be replaced which was taking longer as we were looking for a historic casing to replace it. I assure you that it was safe as this is important to us and as of now it has been replaced with a generic one.
We have 2 historic bedside lamps in each bedroom and in addition there are dimmable chandeliers in most rooms. I will check the wattage on the bedside lamps to see if we can increase it.
Your surprise of finding the 3rd room connecting to the 4th should not be as it is clearly stated in the picture that the 3rd bedroom leads to the 4th. We have even taken effort to show the picture as such so our clients are aware when they view this Suite.
I am always available to answer questions or to provide more information. You asked questions about restaurants, transportation etc to which I provided answers. You booked online and did not ask to clarify about the Suite, I would have been happy to answer your questions.
If you appreciate beautiful, spacious historical homes and their authenticity in the heart of Quebec City, this is the right place otherwise perhaps the Best Western would have been better suited for you.
We had a wonderful time. The unit was well appointed, roomy and beds were super comfy and rooms were very large. The location was superb, very close to old town Quebec with many local eateries. Place Abraham was right behind location with the lovely Joan of Arc gardens. Chris met us and provided extensive information and there was nothing he could not answer from this group of well- versed guests. We were celebrating a girls weekend with mother -daughters and aunts and were a bit concerned with carrying luggage down 3 flights of steps. The owners graciously offered to help retrieve luggage for us the morning we were all leaving. Can't thank Nina and her husband (the owners) enough for their kindness and hospitality. Holly
We are very happy you a wonderful time. You are most welcome and it was a pleasure to receive you and your family!
