About the property

Newly Renovated 4000 sq ft, 5 bedroom, 4.5 bath house in Heart of Crested Butte

Remodeled in 2013, our home is a former bed & breakfast, in the perfect Crested Butte central location.

The house is on the sunny side of town; in a residential neighborhood, two blocks to Elk Street shopping and dining, two blocks to Crested Butte town park/playground and the Performing Arts Center, and one block to Rainbow Park/playground and the Recreation Path. Ride to all lower trails in 5 minutes. The house is located one block to the Visitor Center and the free shuttle bus stop, which circulates through town and runs to the ski resort and three blocks to the town grocery store.

The house is set up as follows:

Downstairs has three bedrooms, all with en suite baths. Two of these bedrooms have queen beds, one has two full over full bunk beds. All have new furniture, mattresses, linens, etc. Also downstairs is a game room with a large screen tv, an x-box 360, many board games and a queen size futon; entryway/mudroom and laundry with oversized machines and sink for outdoor gear. A queen aerobed is also available for additional sleeping space.

Upstairs is the main living space with very large, open concept kitchen, dining, living areas, as well as a pantry and powder room. This is one of the only houses within Crested Butte town with large gathering spaces. Kitchen is fully equipped to cook for a crowd (two refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves and ovens; platters, large pots, etc.) and there is dining space and tableware for 18. The living room has plenty of seating and another large screen tv with a dvd player and surround system for movies or your ipod. A large bedroom (with queen bed and walk-in closet) and smaller office/bedroom are separated from the living space by french doors and share a large master bath. The office comes equipped with a chromebook laptop and a laser printer as well as internet and wifi. The office has a queen bed and large walk-in closet.

The house also has a two-car garage with secure bike storage, a wrap around porch and a large yard.

When we renovated this house, we did it with our own family and visitors in mind. There is lots of space to spread out and enjoy each other or have some privacy. We have kids' toys and dishes, a portacrib, spare twin sized floor mattress, a high chair, 2 townie bikes, a double bike trailer and a dog crate, bowls and leashes. Please note that primary renters must be over 25.

About Shannon Callahan

We live in Boulder Colorado most of the year and are avid ultra runners, mountain bikers and skiers. We've loved Crested Butte for many years for its amazing outdoor activities and kid-friendly community village attitude.

Shannon Callahan purchased this house in 2013

Why Shannon Callahan chose Crested Butte

For us, this is the perfect house - easy distance to the parks and playgrounds, one block to the ski shuttle, close enough to Elk Ave that's its an easy walk to dinner and ice cream but not noisy and with very little car traffic.

What makes this house unique

This is one of the town's largest homes; while there are other 5 bedroom houses, few of them have the very large gathering spaces we have.

Amazing Home and Place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two weeks this past August with our two kids. It was amazing! The home had everything we needed, including toys and books for the kids. The home is very well done, super clean, and very cozy. We could not have asked for a better trip! Thank you!

Very nice accomodation

  • 5 of 5

A group of 9 of us spent our spring break here in mid-March. We were here for 6 nights. This former B&B was ideal for our diverse purposes: some of us wanted to ski, some of us wanted to cook elaborate meals, some of us wanted to play video games or otherwise be couch potatoes. The rooms were sufficiently large and the queen beds were very comfortable (the rooms probably would have been a bit cramped with king beds). The best features of the house were the cooking and dining facilities. There was ample kitchen counter space, all appliances were in good working order, there was a side-room with a second refrigerator (aka our beer fridge) and a huge dutch oven and stock pot. The dining room was very large and we easily sat 10-12 people at the main table, with seating for additional dinner guests at the kitchen counter a few feet away. We had friends visit us for dinner on at least two nights, and the ample dining space was much appreciated. For the few of us who wanted to ski, it was convenient to have the shuttle to the mountain located just a block or two away from the house (I didn't use the shuttle so I'm not sure exactly where it was but I was told it was really close). For those of us who wanted to spend the day drinking craft draft beer and reading, the Brick Oven pizzeria and brewery was a short (8 min?) walk away from the house. Lots of nice restaurants are even closer. For those of us who wanted to play video games, the downstairs game room had a good selection of titles (I didn't play, but one of our group got addicted to Legend of Zelda and played it 6 hr straight). I would happily return to this property for another vacation.

Excellent in all aspects - location, condition, size, furnishings

  • 5 of 5

9 middle.aged guys on our annual ski trip. Best property we’ve vacationed in in over 25 years. Plenty of space bedwise, living room, closets, washer & dryer and much more. Kitchen extraordinarily stocked with cooking tools, appliances, knives, 2 dishwashers. 3 min. walk to shuttle stop and max 12 min walk to end of town. Super convenient. Seriously considering repeating this trip next year. Thanks so much for a great trip!

Great for a big group

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time staying at The Gray Lady this past weekend. There was lots of space, it was very clean, and the house was equipped with everything we needed and much more! It was also incredibly convenient to get to the shuttle to take us up to the mountain and the walk downtown was a breeze. We would absolutely stay here again!

Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC)
Car: not necessary

Crested Butte is the last great Western town partly for what it doesn't have - chain stores, traffic lights (no traffic at all actually), surly attitude. And of course, also for what it does have - amazing mountain biking, trail running and hiking, extreme skiing, wonderful restaurants and bars, fabulous kids' playgrounds, friendly community. Our house is perfectly situated to everything Crested Butte has to offer and is completely outfitted to make vacations complete.
