Cozy and close to everything
Had a great stay in this charming unit. We intended to Sightsee a little more than we actually could due to COVID, so we stayed indoors more. It was cozy and well appointed. It didn’t feel cramped. Actually it felt a little bigger than the pictures.
Ann, the host was very kind. Eager to go back when we can enjoy more of St. Pete.
Our "second" home
Imagine, as a repeat "resident" of Gene's Loft West, checking in to find a framed photo of your beloved pet on the bed stand. Ann is intent on making her rentals your home.
Ann has thought of everything you could possibly need during your stay in St. Petersburg. The cheerful decor and sunlight shining throughout the loft is particularly welcoming to those of us getting away from a dreary, cold northern winter. A personal favorite addition is the claw-foot tub--so relaxing.
After a good night's sleep in the comfy queen bed, get ready to explore St. Petersburg on foot or bike (we bring our own bikes but there are many bike-share kiosks). It is a very friendly city with plenty to do, not to mention the beaches just a 20-minute drive away.
Needless to say, we are extremely happy with our little gem and in the process have gained a friend in Ann. For that we are so very thankful.
Charming and convenient.
We loved our stay at the carriage house! The neighborhood is wonderful — brick streets and bungalows, easily walkable to downtown and waterfront parks. The carriage house itself was perfect for a 3 week stay, with cute, cottage decor and to our surprise, all the room we really needed. Ann was delightful to deal with. We would definitely rent this place again.
Our little Oasis!
Ann, It was such a wonderful time, love your place, we called it our little oasis! You never felt like it was too small, so well appointed and thoughtfully arranged. Really appreciate the little extras, wine, chocolate, water. Plus, extras in the bathroom and kitchen. Thank you for your local tips as well!
Here were some of our favorite things;
Riding our bikes along the parks and stopping to see dolphins or stingrays and etc. was amazing! Even riding around old NE was a blast, we would try to predict how many wild parrots we would see at the house on 2nd St N, highest was 7! Crazy! Even biked to Lassing Park, another Gem, so quiet and peaceful there.
Of course the Dali, plus we did yoga at the Dali and it was lovely! The James museum was amazing but I lived in Colorado so it really spoke to me. The Imagine museum was WAY more interesting than I thought it would be, would recommend taking their tour so informative, would not have understood and appreciated it as much.
The American Stage Theater was great, not a bad seat in the house!
Loved catching the free music outside on the patio at Ale and the Witch, even danced, very surprising to find that gem. Plus just walking and catching music on Beach and Central, even during the day on Saturday.
Took several workshops at Whimsodoodle. A mixed media and acrylic paint pour class, both were excellent.
Also took a pottery class from Charlie Parker studio with my daughter and it was fantastic! Kayla was our instructor was amazing, totally picked it up quickly with her guidance, so much fun.
Sunken Gardens was beautiful and interesting and next door is an amazing bakery!
The loft was just right!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in Gene’s loft. To our delight the website pictures were accurate—the decor is colorful and quirky as well as comfortable. Ann welcomed us with fresh flowers and a nice bottle of wine. We were a little worried about the size for a little longer stay than our usual vacations, but we found it was just right. The bath and kitchen were stocked with all the basics we needed, including shampoo and soap, basic cleaning supplies, coffee, sugar, salt/pepper, etc. We also appreciated being able to leave our car safely in the garage.
Thanks to the convenient location in Old Northeast, we stayed busy with daily walks along the bay, golf, museum visits, trips to nearby St. Pete Beach, enjoying local restaurants, and visiting with friends in the area. We even took in a Rays game!
About Ann Goldman
I am originally from Annapolis, Maryland where my former husband and I rehabbed historic homes. We accumulated a handful that we rented. When I came to Florida to escape the dismal northern winters, I continued. I buy and then convert sad little places into whimsical fun spots in my signature shabby chic, coastal and eclectic style. Being a professional designer helps. And being a collector of antiques gives me the means to add interesting vintage pieces to the mix. When done right, this crazy combination makes for a relaxing and homey combination. I now have 5 charming little furnished rentals. All are vintage 1920 properties and all are in Old Northeast. I make my outside spaces as nice as the inside spaces. All my bungalows are surrounded by lush tropical flowers, vines and palms. Each has a fountain with outside seating areas. My loft and studio apartments have either courtyards or flower boxes off the screen porches. I lease to sophisticated renters who appreciate vintage homes with charm and character. Most of my requests are from people out of state. Lately, I’ve had visitors from abroad. Some want to escape the northern winters. Some want to live here while they search for a place to buy. Some are rehabbing a house nearby. And some just want a second home here. I hope I can help with all those needs.
Why Ann Goldman chose Historic Old Northeast
I purchased this property in 2014. It is nearly 100 years old. It used to be part of an old horse farm. It is currently a multi-family property. The bungalow in front has a beautiful private courtyard and garden. It is rented year long to the same couple. Visitors in the carriage house can enjoy the garden from their windows. The carriage house was either a barn for buggies or possibly a garage housing T-model Fords and other cars of the period. On the early maps, it is designated as a garage. Now it houses two charming loft apartments.
What makes this Apartment unique
The lofts are in a terrific location. Walk one direction and you are heading for the shops, restaurants, museums and waterfront in town. Walk the other direction and you are going toward the businesses on 4th Street . . . coffee shops, grocery stores. Walk to dinner and shops. It is only about 10 blocks. Walk to the water. It is about six blocks. In fact, you can see it from the street. Tons of restaurants, bars, shops, museums, theaters and festivals. Travel less than 15 minutes and you are at the gulf beaches with a variety of water sports. Even places like Disney are just a day trip away!. St. Petersburg, Florida keeps getting better. People used to think there was nothing to do in St. Petersburg but sit on the green benches downtown. But now, it is a vibrant, growing city and an exciting tourist destination.
