About the host
Hosted by Mike Larson
Hey there! I’m Mike Larson — a Northern Minnesota guy who grew up loving the outdoors: boating, hockey, and snowmobiling (especially trying to tackle my older sisters on our old Polaris Colt!). These days, I still ride in the Blackwood Blizzard Tour every year to raise money for ALS.
I’m married to my wife Kristin (20 years and counting), and we have two busy, fun-loving kids. I’ve coached both of them in hockey and passed on my love for fishing, ATVs, snowmobiles, jet skis, boats, wakesurfing, paddleboards, and kayaks.
Kristin grew up in the Twin Cities, but her family lives in Warroad & Canada — places we try to visit often. It has that same great, remote feel as the Upper Peninsula, which is one of the reasons we fell in love with this area back in 2015.
At Cabin Creek, campfires are a nightly ritual, and you might hear about my son’s favorite food — “Canadian Chicken” (because for some reason, he refused walleye but loved Canadian Chicken!).
We’re big fans of the outdoors, good food, and relaxed times with family and friends. If you need local tips or anything to make your stay better, just let us know!
